Visit http://www.jandjacres.net for more hobby farm activities. We visited the Southern Cross Guest Ranch in Madison, GA for a 4 day, 3 night stay. It was an amazing vacation. Above all - the people are wonderful. From accommodating us when we needed to reschedule our trip, to letting my wife ride in the rain when nobody else wanted to go - nothing we needed or wanted was ignored. The guides were all polite and friendly. They helped when you needed or wanted help, and were attentive to notice concerns and provide advice. They were well versed on the history of the animals, the ranch and the local area. We LOVE how they treat their animals. Once a horse is put in to service as a "guest horse", it is never again available for sale. They hold to the believe that once the horse as worked for them it deserves a retirement - as so it does. Their horses retire right there on the ranch and their several hundred acres of sprawling pasture. The trails were enjoyable, but we will schedule our next trip for a time after the deciduous trees have opened up, just for some added scenery. My personal favorite spot is the part of the trail through the creek, with the trail that overlooks the creek being my second favorite. The food was outstanding. We even noticed a nice little note from Chef Robert Irvine (on a picture in one of the lounges) where he agreed that the food, in his words, "rocked".
