Documentary about the Weston, Clevedon and Portishead Railway which ran in Somerset, UK, and followed the South Coast of the Bristol Channel. It was one of several independent Light Railways in Britain run by Colonel Holman Frederick Stephens from his headquarters in Tonbridge, Kent.
A quiet, pretty little town in North Somerset on the Bristol Channel coast of England, Clevedon was once a fishing village but in the mid 19th century tried to reinvent itself as a small but fashionable seaside resort. It didn't make it in the big time but is nevertheless a nice place to visit, live or retire within easy reach of Bristol & with spectacular sunsets to be seen from the promenade. Unfortunately the branch railway was closed in the 1960's so the town can only be reached by road or by sea at high tide.

I have had several requests to video my regular Charity Shop visits so today I used my mobile phone to record my progress. The phone struggles a bit for quality indoors lower light conditions and outdoors there is a fair bit of wind noise.

Clevedon is a town and civil parish in the unitary authority of North Somerset, which covers part of the ceremonial county of Somerset, England. The town has a population of 21,957 according to the United Kingdom Census 2001.
The town is situated amongst a group of small hills alongside the River Severn estuary, including Churchill, Wain's hill (which is topped by the remains of an Iron Age hill fort), Dial hill, Strawberry hill, Castle hill, Hangstone hill and Court hill which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Clevedon was mentioned in the Domesday Book but did not really grow until the Victorian era when Clevedon became a popular seaside town. It was served by a short branch line from the main railway at Yatton, between 1847 and 1961. Another railway also served the town, the Weston, Clevedon and Portishead Light Railway, which opened in 1897 and closed in 1940.

I have had several requests to video my regular Charity Shop visits so today I used my mobile phone to record my progress. The phone struggles a bit for quality indoors lower light conditions and outdoors there is a fair bit of wind noise.
I cannot answer comments from people who have blocked replies, so if you don't get a reply to your question that may be the reason. It is probably worth reading my video description first because the answer may already be there. Generally my projects are for my grandchildren to enjoy. OK, I enjoy them too. If anybody else likes them, that is a bonus. I like to keep my work as simple and basic as possible so that it can be copied easily and improved by anybody who wants to try themselves. I recycle or repurpose items rather than buy new and when I do buy I like to keep it cheap.

It wasn't long before the crew were paged on 8th May, at 9.10pm to help two people who were stranded on rocks on Ladye Bay in Clevedon ...
