PADDINGTON tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear (voiced by Firth) who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined - until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says "Please look after this bear. Thank you," and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.

Paddington Bear (1989 TV series)
Paddington Bear was the second television adaptation of the children's animated series and made by Hanna-Barbera in association with Central Independent Television. The character of an American boy named David, Jonathan and Judy Brown's cousin who arrived in London on the same day as Paddington, was added to the stories in this incarnation, it was part of The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera in 1989 and lasted 13 episodes.

The elderly bear had been mutilated in a circus in South America – her fingers cut off and her teeth snapped off – and had lost all her fur due to stress.
Animal Defenders International President Jan Creamer said “It is an absolute joy to see Cholita enjoying her new home, and the sights and sounds of the forest which she was cruelly denied as a baby. "
ADI has launched an appeal to rescue another balding lady spectacled bear called Dominga, who is currently living alone in a small zoo in the Andes.
ADI must raise £18,000 to cover the cost of completing an enclosure next to Cholita’s, a rescue and veterinary team, travel crate and transport.

In poor health when rescued, even provided with an oxygen tent when ADI took her over the Andes to her new home, Cholita has flourished and is enjoying life back in the forest.
