I Don't Believe You

"I Don't Believe You" is a song by American recording artist Pink. It was released as the sixth single from her fifth studio album, Funhouse. The song became the least successful of the six singles from "Funhouse".

Background

Musically, the song is a mid-tempo pop ballad, set in common time and played in the key of A-flat major. The guitar and piano are used for the background music, while Pink's voice follows the A♭ —Fm7—Cm—D♭—A♭ chord progression. Pink explained on her website that, lyrically, the song is about pleading for reconciliation, and is her favourite song from Funhouse "because it's just so naked. It's like taking a deep breathe and saying, 'Here I am. Take me. Take your best shot'." She went on to explain that:

Critical reception

Jonathan Keefe from Slant Magazine praised the song, its sparse electric guitar riff, and Pink's "phenomenal vocal turn that is both vulnerable and accusatory", while New York Times reporter Jon Caramanica claimed "I Don't Believe You" swells like a classic soul ballad, as Pink pleads for a lover to reconsider walking away. On another side, Christian Hoard of Rolling Stone magazine gave a negative review, claiming the song is a "goopy ballad", which makes the singer sound like "just another big-voiced chart-buster", and that she has shown more personality on previous singles.

Time Takes Time

Time Takes Time is the tenth studio album by Ringo Starr, released in 1992, his critically acclaimed comeback album. His first studio album since 1983's Old Wave, it followed a successful 1989–90 world tour with his All-Starr Band. Time Takes Time features several celebrity guests including Brian Wilson, Harry Nilsson and Electric Light Orchestra frontman Jeff Lynne.

Background

In February 1987, Ringo Starr started work on his first new studio album in four years. Sessions began with producer Chips Moman in 3 Alarm Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. These sessions lasted for a few days then came to a halt before being resumed in April, with recording taking place at 3 Alarm Studios and Sun Studios. A month-long string of recording sessions were planned in August, for recording at Mayfair Recording Studios in London, before being halted shortly before recording had begun. These sessions were to have been handled by Elton John's manager, John Reid, and were intended to feature John. While on tour in July 1989 with the All-Starr Band, Starr was told that Moman was attempting to release the Memphis sessions as an album; Starr proceeded to sue Moman in August. An injunction was issued by the Fulton County Superior Courts to Starr in early January 1990, where he was to pay out costs of the sessions to Moman. It was announced at a National Association of Radio Merchandisers (NARM) convention that Starr signed a recording contract with Private Music in March 1991, who seemed to be the only label interested in him at the time.

I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met)

"I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met)" is a 1964 song by Bob Dylan, from his fourth studio album, Another Side of Bob Dylan.

Dylan biographer Robert Shelton describes it as being about "the intoxication of a night of love followed by the throbbing headache of his partner's emotional abandonment and detachment." Dylan, introducing it at his Halloween, 1964 performance (released on The Bootleg Series Vol. 6: Bob Dylan Live 1964, Concert at Philharmonic Hall) said, "This is about all the people that say they've never seen you..."

Live versions of the song have also been released on Biograph (a performance recorded in Belfast on 6 May 1966), The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert (recorded in Manchester on 17 May 1966; also released on Live 1961-2000: Thirty-Nine Years of Great Concert Performances), and The Last Waltz (recorded in San Francisco on 25 November 1976).

Ash Grunwald

Ash Grunwald (born Ashley Groenewald, 5 September 1976, Melbourne) is an Australian blues musician. He has released eight regular albums and in 2005 received an ARIA Award.

Career

The Blue Grunwalds, one of Grunwald's first bands, released the album Groove Cave, which generated some local interest.

In 2001 Grunwald formed a trio called the Groove Catalysts. The Groove Catalysts played a number of blues venues in Melbourne and at several festivals throughout 2001 and 2002. As a solo artist, Grunwald has maintained several residencies over the past few years and has toured throughout Victoria and the east coast of Australia. Throughout 2001 Grunwald also played in a duo with Lloyd Spiegel.

Grunwald drew attention as a solo artist with the release of 2002's Introducing Ash Grunwald, a collection of originals and blues standards that included "Smokestack Lightnin'" (Howlin' Wolf) "The Sky Is Crying" (Elmore James) and "Rolling And Tumbling" (Robert Johnson) recorded live with only acoustic guitar and foot percussion consisting of a stomp box and tambourine.
