With its plantation surrounded by pure rainforests in the cool mountain air, Sabah Tea Garden invites visitors to indulge in its beautiful surroundings, away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.
Sabah Tea is the only organic tea farm in Borneo and one of the few in the world.
A Sabah Tea personnel will show visitors around the factory, where tea processing takes place.
Step 1 is the Harvesting, where the top 2 leaves and a bud are harvested using shears or mechanized cutter by tea harvesters.
Step 2 involves Withering, where the freshly cut shoots are spread evenly in special troughs, and conditioned air flow through and around the leaves to concentrate the juices in the leaves by reducing 60% of moisture.
Other steps to be taken include Rolling, Fermentation, Drying or Frying, Sorting or Grading and Packing.
Sabah Tea also has other flavourings such as Geranium, Tongkat Ali, Cinnamon and Natural Ginger.
At the Sabah Tea House, the famous Tea Pancake and Pandan Teh Tarik made from organic tea await visitors.
Visitors can also choose to stay in a range of accommodation, be it a traditional Rungus longhouse, a cosy bungalow or a campsite. The longhouse is a great opportunity to learn about the local cultures, and provides an insight of living as a large community within the house.

It was the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Malaysia, striking Ranau at 7.15am on that fateful Friday and surpassing the 5.8 tremblor recorded in Lahad Datu in 1976.
The epicentre of the earthquake was 16km northwest of Ranau but tremors were felt by the people in districts such as Kundasang, Tambunan, Interior, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud.
The earthquake damaged the ‘Donkey’s Ears’ iconic peak of Mount Kinabalu and effected damage to property in Ranau.
18 killed in the earthquake, 10 were Singaporeans, among them students and teachers of Tanjong Katong Primary School as well as one travel guide.
187 climbers were impacted, according to Sabah official sources, with most of them from Malaysia and Singapore, and others from Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.137 of them were stranded but subsequently rescued. As of 10 June, 18 people of 5 nationalities were confirmed dead. The Singaporean teacher and student who were reportedly missing, were confirmed dead by the Singaporean Ministry of Education with an official statement released at the same day. Subsequent investigation and witness by other climbers found that four Malaysian mountain guides died while protecting climbers. The four guides were identified as Robbi Sapinggi, Valerian Joannes, Ricky Masirin and Joseph Solungin.

Ranau
Ranau (pronounced [ra.naʊ]) is a town as well as a district located in Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo. The landlocked district is situated in the West Coast Division, commencing in the northern part of the Division and continuing in a southerly direction, while bordering the Sandakan Division to the east until it meets the Interior Division border. Ranau sits 108 km (67 mi) east of Kota Kinabalu and 227 km (141 mi) west of Sandakan. As of the 2010 Census, the population of the district was 94,092, an almost entirely Dusun ethnic community.
Ranau is noted for its hilly geographical structure and is the largest producer of highland vegetables in the state of Sabah. Tourism and highland agriculture are the major industries, as the district is at 1,176 m above sea level. Its many tourist destinations attracted half a million tourists in 2009. These include Mount Kinabalu (the tallest mountain on Borneo), Kinabalu Park, Poring Hot Springs, Kundasang War Memorial, Death March Trail, Mesilau, and Sabah Tea Garden. Ranau's diverse flora ranges from rich tropical lowland and hill rainforest to tropical mountain, sub-alpine forest and scrub on the higher elevations and particularly abundant in species with examples of flora from as far as China, Australia and the Himalayas, as well as pan-tropical flora.

With its plantation surrounded by pure rainforests in the cool mountain air, Sabah Tea Garden invites visitors to indulge in its beautiful surroundings, away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.
Sabah Tea is the only organic tea farm in Borneo and one of the few in the world.
A Sabah Tea personnel will show visitors around the factory, where tea processing takes place.
Step 1 is the Harvesting, where the top 2 leaves and a bud are harvested using shears or mechanized cutter by tea harvesters.
Step 2 involves Withering, where the freshly cut shoots are spread evenly in special troughs, and conditioned air flow through and around the leaves to concentrate the juices in the leaves by reducing 60% of moisture.
Other steps to be taken include Rolling, Fermentation, Drying or Frying, Sorting or Grading and Packing.
Sabah Tea also has other flavourings such as Geranium, Tongkat Ali, Cinnamon and Natural Ginger.
At the Sabah Tea House, the famous Tea Pancake and Pandan Teh Tarik made from organic tea await visitors.
Visitors can also choose to stay in a range of accommodation, be it a traditional Rungus longhouse, a cosy bungalow or a campsite. The longhouse is a great opportunity to learn about the local cultures, and provides an insight of living as a large community within the house.

It was the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Malaysia, striking Ranau at 7.15am on that fateful Friday and surpassing the 5.8 tremblor recorded in Lahad Datu in 1976.
The epicentre of the earthquake was 16km northwest of Ranau but tremors were felt by the people in districts such as Kundasang, Tambunan, Interior, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud.
The earthquake damaged the ‘Donkey’s Ears’ iconic peak of Mount Kinabalu and effected damage to property in Ranau.
18 killed in the earthquake, 10 were Singaporeans, among them students and teachers of Tanjong Katong Primary School as well as one travel guide.
187 climbers were impacted, according to Sabah official sources, with most of them from Malaysia and Singapore, and others from Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.137 of them were stranded but subsequently rescued. As of 10 June, 18 people of 5 nationalities were confirmed dead. The Singaporean teacher and student who were reportedly missing, were confirmed dead by the Singaporean Ministry of Education with an official statement released at the same day. Subsequent investigation and witness by other climbers found that four Malaysian mountain guides died while protecting climbers. The open bids follow this year’s two previous bids for a Danau Ranau project in South Sulawesi and a Gunung Lawu project in East Java. An open tender for Danau Ranau needs to be re-launched as only one proposal was received for it.
