Kingstown is the capital, chief port, and main commercial centre of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. With a population of 25,418 (2005), Kingstown is the most populous as well as the largest settlement by area in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is the centre for the island's agricultural industry and a port of entry for tourists. The city lies within the parish of Saint George in the south-west corner of Saint Vincent. Exports include bananas which are shipped mainly to the United Kingdom, coconuts, and arrowroot.
It is built partially on reclaimed land and is the location of many important buildings, including the Financial Complex which was built in 1991 and accommodates the Office of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister as well as those of other departments of government, a Court Office of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and almost all of the governmental ministries.

Botanic Gardens St. Vincent: Located on the northern outskirts of Kingstown are the Botanical Gardens. Kingstown is overlooked by Fort Charlotte, on the north side of town. It is located 190 m above sea level.

Kingstown is the capital, chief port, and main commercial centre of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. With a population of 16,500 (2010), Kingstown is the most populous settlement in the country. It is the centre for the island's agricultural industry and a port of entry for tourists. The city lies within the parish of Saint George in the south-west corner of Saint Vincent.
History
The modern capital, Kingstown, was originally founded by French settlers shortly after 1722, although Saint Vincent had 196 years of British rule before her independence.
The botanical garden, conceived in 1765, is one of the oldest in the Western hemisphere. William Bligh, made famous from the Mutiny on the Bounty, brought seeds of the Breadfruit tree here for planting, ca 1793.
Geography
The town is surrounded by steep hills.

Kingstown is the capital, chief port, and main commercial centre of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. With a population of 25,418 (2005), Kingstown is the most populous as well as the largest settlement by area in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is the centre for the island's agricultural industry and a port of entry for tourists. The city lies within the parish of Saint George in the south-west corner of Saint Vincent. Exports include bananas which are shipped mainly to the United Kingdom, coconuts, and arrowroot.
It is built partially on reclaimed land and is the location of many important buildings, including the Financial Complex which was built in 1991 and accommodates the Office of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister as well as those of other departments of government, a Court Office of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and almost all of the governmental ministries.

Kingston, a city with more than 120.000 inhabitants, is located on the shores of Lake Ontario. Due to the many buildings of gray limestone, like the great prison at the Olympic marina, Kingston is also called Limestone City. In 1976 the Olympic sailing competitions were held in the marina. Once founded as a simple fur trade station, the city was conquered by the English in 1758. Kingstown Government House .... On land that Jack built?
Kingstown, capital city of the tropical Caribbean Island of St. Vincent needs more land. How do you add palm trees, the Government House buildings and a busy parking lot to an unspoiled, developing, tropical island-nation? Jack Burrows and his buddies from the Canada International Development Agency, (CIDA), did just that. Government offices now sit on reclaimed flat lands. CIDA created the deep water harbor for tourism and cruise ships, local travel and commerce. The locals filled it in, later, to reclaim acres of prime commercial real estate in this tropical, island paradise, downtown Kingstown, in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Kingston, a city with more than 120.000 inhabitants, is located on the shores of Lake Ontario. Due to the many buildings of gray limestone, like the great prison at the Olympic marina, Kingston is also called Limestone City. In 1976 the Olympic sailing competitions were held in the marina.
Once founded as a simple fur trade station, the city was conquered by the English in 1758. They built the Fort Henry to secure the commercial shipping on the St. Lawrence River and the Rideau Channel which was completed in 1832. From 1841 to 1844, Kingston was the first capital of the united Canadas.
During our visit, the annual Limestone Musical Festival took place in front of the city hall next to the old railway station of the Canadian Pacific.
