Sneeking up on over 18,000 individuals in the Govanhill area alone / last years statistics ............ issuing FPNs .Fixed Penalty Notices ..........£80 if you so much as let a tiny bit of paper fall to the ground ..without the chance or making amends and being given the chance to pick it up and finding a bin somewhere ........
The area where this video was filmed just so happens to be the 'Ward' were First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is MSP for ........... so no doubt that I will be accused of being anti-Scottish National Party ........which couldn't be further from the truth ........... As a bit of a political activist myself I consider it my public duty to highlight the state of Govanhill ........... You have heard the phrase 'The Buck Stops here' ............ Well who is to blame for the Conditions of squalor ............. I dare say Pubonic Plague is still kicking about ............ and many other horrible diseases ............ The Streets and back-courts of Govanhill are absolutely FUCKING HOWLING .........Filthy to the highest degree .
WHO DO YOU BLAME ? ............. The Local Housing .....The GCC ........ The Residents .... ????????? Blatantly racist comments are not welcome ..........try and be constructive ......and as posite as can be ...It's a solution WE WANT .................Not a rabble .....
Personally .......I think there is a secret plan to make the area that BAD .........that the 'Home-owners will be made to sell their Houses/Homes for peanuts to some newly formed Project that 'Compulsory Purchase' ' a large amount of properties .............many of whom will belong to nice up-standing folk .................who are going to be robbed of the true value of their homes ...............had the area been maintained by all concerned the way you would expect ............. Gary

The children of Big Noise Govanhill performed via a live link to a reception in the Scottish Parliament. The priority on the night was a slick feed and there were live edits between two cameras. We are delighted to have this recording from one of the cameras. It has some sudden movements not seen during the live broadcast but we still think it gives a good reflection of what happened. Many thanks to Chris Campbell for the footage.

Based on the principles of psycho-geography, the film depicts, both aurally and visually, a walk round the Govanhill area. The interview dialogue was "randomised" during the edit and the music was also written with drifting, or "derive" in mind, aligning to some of the main principles of psycho-geography.

Govanhill (Gaelic: Cnoc a' Ghobhainn) is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde between the Gorbals, Mount Florida and Queen's Park. The council ward has boundaries of Dixon Avenue and Dixon Road to the South, Victoria Road to the West, Butterbiggins Road to the North, and Aikenhead Road to the East.
The history of the area is linked to the Dixon family. A prominent ironmaster, William Dixon opened blast furnaces to the North of Govanhill which became known as 'Dixons Blazes'. The area itself was formed in 1877 and the main avenue that runs the length of it is called Dixon Avenue. Some of the local streets were name after the daughters of William Dixon Jnr; Allison Street, Daisy Street, and Annette Street. Successive waves of immigrants from Ireland, Pakistan and more recently Poland and Slovakia have given the area a rich multicultural identity.
Govanhill is home to one of Glasgow's original Carnegie libraries, deftly designed in the Edwardian Baroque style by James Robert Rhind. The library is situated on Langside Road at its junction with Calder Street.

Based on the principles of psycho-geography, the film depicts, both aurally and visually, a walk round the Govanhill area. The interview dialogue was "randomised" during the edit and the music was also written with drifting, or "derive" in mind, aligning to some of the main principles of psycho-geography.
