This video documents the use of the Fulton Recovery System by C-130 Hercules aircraft at Edwards AFB in 1966 and at Phang Rang AB in 1968.
The Fulton surface-to-air recovery system is a system used by the United States Air Force and United States Navy for retrieving persons on the ground from a C-130 Hercules aircraft. It involves using an overall-type harness and a self-inflating balloon which carries an attached lift line. An HC-130H engages the line with its V-shaped yoke and the individual is reeled on board. Red flags on the lift line guide the pilot during daylight recoveries; lights on the lift line are used for night recoveries. Recovery kits were designed for one and two-man recoveries.

The Wormhole Fulton Extraction Device is a very useful upgrade in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Other than the normal fulton this one cannot be shot down, making it perfect for extracting enemies and their vehicles mid-combat. You can even use it in buildings or when there's something overhead, it always has a 100% extraction chance.
In order to get it you must beat side op #50 "Capture the Legenday Jackal". This side op only becomes available after completing story mission 31. If it doesn't show up after mission 31 right away it's because only a limited amount of side ops can be active per area at the same time. Just keep doing other side ops and it will show up eventually.
You must then develop the Wormhole Device via mother base in your iDroid. Development requires 850,000 GMP and your R&D; team + Support Unit must be level 40.
Everything that you can extract with the normal fulton can also be extracted with the wormhole.

The Fulton surface-to-air recovery system (STARS) is a system used by the United States Air Force and United States Navy for retrieving persons on the ground from a MC-130E Combat Talon I aircraft. It involves using an overall-type harness and a self-inflating balloon which carries an attached lift line. An MC-130E engages the line with its V-shaped yoke and the individual is reeled on board. Red flags on the lift line guide the pilot during daylight recoveries; lights on the lift line are used for night recoveries. Recovery kits were designed for one and two-man recoveries.
This system was developed by inventor Robert Edison Fulton, Jr. for the Central Intelligence Agency in the early 1950s. It was an evolution from a similar system that was used during World War II by American and British forces. The earlier system did not use a balloon, but had a pair of poles that were set in the ground on either side of the person to be retrieved, with a line running from the top of one pole to the other. An aircraft, usually a C-47 Skytrain, would trail a grappling hook and engage the line, which was attached to the person to be retrieved.

Bernard Adamus - Fulton Road
Vendredi, heure de pointe. Je me dirige péniblement vers le Petit Champlain : même à vélo, je dois me coltiner le pare-choc contre pare-choc, prise dans un bouchon monstre. J'ai rarement vu autant de trafic dans le coin à ce temps-ci de l'année. Est-ce à cause des bateaux de croisières qui accostent au port depuis une semaine? En tout cas, c'est probablement ces immenses condos flottants qui déversent autant de touristes dans le quartier en cette fin septembre.
Je débarque au Théâtre Petit Champlain. On me dirige à l'arrière-scène. Me voilà dans l'antre des artistes pour la toute première fois. Je suis un peu (pas mal) impressionnée. Et gênée : les gars ne sont pas encore arrivés. Courageusement -- mais fébrile en dedans --, je me présente à Nathalie du label Dare to Care et m'incruste dans l'univers scénique de Bernard Adamus, qui foulera les planches de cette mythique salle de concert deux soirs pour nous présenter N° 2, son... deuxième album.
Je ne sais pas trop quoi faire en attendant. Je me cale dans le sofa de la loge, écris un peu, défile sans intérêt les actus Facebook. J'ai pas envie mais je vais aux toilettes. Je vais épier du côté de la scène pendant le test de son. L'évier déborde de bières froides, je me retiens pour ne pas en caler une. Et puis Jimmy m'envoie un texto : lui et le reste de la bande sont enfin arrivés. Soulagement.
Vite, vite, vite. Faut installer le matos. Adamus a une entrevue à faire après sa prestation pour Stéréo-Séquence. Et il a faim. Et il a sûrement très, très soif. La captation se fait à la mezzanine. C'est intime, feutré : l'ambiance parfaite pour Fulton Road, qu'il interprète magnifiquement, one shot. Sa voix, puissante, juste; ses doigts qui égrènent les notes de sa guitare mélancolique. Et en sourdine, un solo de trompette interprété par Jérôme Dupuis-Cloutier en bas sur la scène. Je suis envoûtée et tout le stress pour en arriver à ce moment s'est subitement envolé.
Le temps. C'est ce qui ressort de cette expérience avec Bernard Adamus. Le temps qui s'étire, l'attente. Le temps qui se contracte, qui déboule à une vitesse folle, qui nous prend en otage. Le temps, ça se résume aussi à une heure pris dans le trafic pour dix minutes de tournage.
On a eu chaud, Jay s'est battu avec son objectif, Étienne a eu envie de mourir un peu, mais au final tout le monde était content. Pis maudit que la bière était bonne. Ça valait le coup d'attendre.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - How to Unlock Wormhole Fulton Extraction Device
The Wormhole Fulton Extraction Device is a very useful upgrade in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Other than the normal fulton this one cannot be shot down, making it perfect for extracting enemies and their vehicles mid-combat. You can even use it in buildings or when there's something overhead, it always has a 100% extraction chance. In order to get it you must beat side op #50 "Capture the Legenday Jackal". This side op only becomes available after completing story mission 31. If it doesn't show up after mission 31 right away it's because only a limited amount of side ops can be active per area at the same time. Just keep doing other side ops and it will show up eventually. You must then develop the Wormhole Device via mother base in your iDroid. Development requires 850,000 GMP ... -

Fulton Extracting The Man on Fire - Mission 20 - Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
An easy, and rather unique way to defeat The Man on Fire by fulton recovering him in Mission 20: "Voices" - Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Walkthrough: Straight after the cutscene ends, sprint to the water tower by the cliff. Place some C4 by the tower, and then wait for the Man on Fire to approach you. Once he's next to the tower, blow up the C4 charge. Request a supply drop to where he's stunned, I found the best way to do this is to quickly sprint to him and then request the supply drop to your own location. The crate should then knock out the kid hovering above The Man on Fire, leaving him incapacitated. Proceed to fulton extract him, then jump into the 4x4 parked next to the blown up water tower and drive down through the tunnel you initially entered. The mission will then end... -

The Wormhole Fulton Extraction Device is a very useful upgrade in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Other than the normal fulton this one cannot be shot down, making it perfect for extracting enemies and their vehicles mid-combat. You can even use it in buildings or when there's something overhead, it always has a 100% extraction chance.
In order to get it you must beat side op #50 "Capture the Legenday Jackal". This side op only becomes available after completing story mission 31. If it doesn't show up after mission 31 right away it's because only a limited amount of side ops can be active per area at the same time. Just keep doing other side ops and it will show up eventually.
You must then develop the Wormhole Device via mother base in your iDroid. Development requires 850,000 GMP and your R&D; team + Support Unit must be level 40.
Everything that you can extract with the normal fulton can also be extracted with the wormhole.

This system was developed by inventor Robert Edison Fulton, Jr. for the Central Intelligence Agency in the early 1950s. It was an evolution from a similar system that was used during World War II by American and British forces. The earlier system did not use a balloon, but had a pair of poles that were set in the ground on either side of the person to be retrieved, with a line running from the top of one pole to the other. An aircraft, usually a C-47 Skytrain, would trail a grappling hook and engage the line, which was attached to the person to be retrieved.

Bernard Adamus - Fulton Road
Vendredi, heure de pointe. Je me dirige péniblement vers le Petit Champlain : même à vélo, je dois me coltiner le pare-choc contre pare-choc, prise dans un bouchon monstre. J'ai rarement vu autant de trafic dans le coin à ce temps-ci de l'année. Est-ce à cause des bateaux de croisières qui accostent au port depuis une semaine? En tout cas, c'est probablement ces immenses condos flottants qui déversent autant de touristes dans le quartier en cette fin septembre.
Je débarque au Théâtre Petit Champlain. On me dirige à l'arrière-scène. Me voilà dans l'antre des artistes pour la toute première fois. Je suis un peu (pas mal) impressionnée. Et gênée : les gars ne sont pas encore arrivés. Courageusement -- mais fébrile en dedans --, je me présente à Nathalie du label Dare to Care et m'incruste dans l'univers scénique de Bernard Adamus, qui foulera les planches de cette mythique salle de concert deux soirs pour nous présenter N° 2, son... deuxième album.
Je ne sais pas trop quoi faire en attendant. Je me cale dans le sofa de la loge, écris un peu, défile sans intérêt les actus Facebook. J'ai pas envie mais je vais aux toilettes. Je vais épier du côté de la scène pendant le test de son. L'évier déborde de bières froides, je me retiens pour ne pas en caler une. Et puis Jimmy m'envoie un texto : lui et le reste de la bande sont enfin arrivés. Soulagement.
Vite, vite, vite. Faut installer le matos. Adamus a une entrevue à faire après sa prestation pour Stéréo-Séquence. Et il a faim. Et il a sûrement très, très soif. La captation se fait à la mezzanine. C'est intime, feutré : l'ambiance parfaite pour Fulton Road, qu'il interprète magnifiquement, one shot. Sa voix, puissante, juste; ses doigts qui égrènent les notes de sa guitare mélancolique. Et en sourdine, un solo de trompette interprété par Jérôme Dupuis-Cloutier en bas sur la scène. Je suis envoûtée et tout le stress pour en arriver à ce moment s'est subitement envolé.
Le temps. C'est ce qui ressort de cette expérience avec Bernard Adamus. Le temps qui s'étire, l'attente. Le temps qui se contracte, qui déboule à une vitesse folle, qui nous prend en otage. Le temps, ça se résume aussi à une heure pris dans le trafic pour dix minutes de tournage.
On a eu chaud, Jay s'est battu avec son objectif, Étienne a eu envie de mourir un peu, mais au final tout le monde était content. Pis maudit que la bière était bonne. Ça valait le coup d'attendre.

Walkthrough:
Straight after the cutscene ends, sprint to the water tower by the cliff. Place some C4 by the tower, and then wait for the Man on Fire to approach you. Once he's next to the tower, blow up the C4 charge. Request a supply drop to where he's stunned, I found the best way to do this is to quickly sprint to him and then request the supply drop to your own location. The crate should then knock out the kid hovering above The Man on Fire, leaving him incapacitated. Proceed to fulton extract him, then jump into the 4x4 parked next to the blown up water tower and drive down through the tunnel you initially entered. The mission will then end.

There's not much to do in Vermont...Though the combination of cold weather & small isolated towns do force an extremely bored kid to get creative. 23 years old & now based in Brooklyn, Pierce is still subject to the habits of his youth; bouncing between genres & instruments while simultaneously bringing all of these influences into the dance music he's known for. He made his first real breakthrough at the age of 18 with his first 3 track EP titled "Pardon My French". You may have seen the "making of" video where some pretty unconventional sounds were sampled & definitely turned some heads. With breakout singles including Where We Were, Runaway, & Kuaga as well as official remixes for artists ranging from The Killers to Above & Beyond, his style continues to evolve & love of experimentations doesn’t diminish. You may have also heard his downtempo and experimental productions such as 10/6 (That Should Do It), As You Were, his remix for Mutemath & more recently his live version of Kuaga.

Jim Morris is a Texas high school chemistry teacher and coach of the school's baseball team. He's always loved baseball and as a way of motivating his players, he agrees to go to a professional try-out if they win the championship. He once had aspirations to be a professional baseball player but an injury brought that to an end. Sure enough, the 39 year-old father of three finds himself at a camp for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and he somehow seems to have regained his pitching arm, easily throwing a 98 mph fastball. Signed to a contract, he toils in the minor leagues while his supportive wife stays home raising their children. He soon finds himself called up to the big club and pitching for Tampa which is in Texas playing the Rangers. Based on a true story.

There's not much to do in Vermont...Though the combination of cold weather & small isolated towns do force an extremely bored kid to get creative. 23 years old & now based in Brooklyn, Pierce is still subject to the habits of his youth; bouncing between genres & instruments while simultaneously bringing all of these influences into the dance music he's known for. He made his first real breakthrough at the age of 18 with his first 3 track EP titled "Pardon My French". You may have seen the "making of" video where some pretty unconventional sounds were sampled & definitely turned some heads. With breakout singles including Where We Were, Runaway, & Kuaga as well as official remixes for artists ranging from The Killers to Above & Beyond, his style continues to evolve & love of experimentations doesn’t diminish. You may have also heard his downtempo and experimental productions such as 10/6 (That Should Do It), As You Were, his remix for Mutemath & more recently his live version of Kuaga.

Opening in 1851 and serving the state of Missouri for more than 160 years, Fulton State Hospital in Fulton, Missouri is the oldest mental hospital west of the Mississippi River and continues its operations still today. In total, Missouri was once home to four Kirkbride complexes. Fulton State Hospital was the first of four Kirkbrides in Missouri and thus is often referred to as “Hospital for the Insane Number 1” or “State Lunatic Asylum Number 1” among other names.
Let’s start with some background. Dr. Thomas Kirkbride, creator of the Kirkbride plan, was born to a Quaker family in 1809. Although this was a time when the science of mental health was in its infancy, Dr. Kirkbride strived to find a cure for mental illnesses by developing standardized treatments and standardized building plans based on moral treatment and seclusion. Moral treatment sought to decrease the use of inhumane treatments previously practiced on patients. As for seclusion, Kirkbride buildings were constructed in rural areas where patients would often help farm the land and perform daily chores to ensure a completely self-sufficient complex. The seclusion was thought to improve mental health by removing the stress and theorized causes of insanity that city life presented.
On January 6, 1844, Missouri Governor Thomas Reynolds committed suicide. Ironically and tragically, this may have been key to the erection of Missouri’s first mental hospital. In the absence of Governor Reynolds, Lieutenant governor Meridith Marmaduke assumed power and championed the idea of a Missouri state lunatic asylum. At the time Missouri did not possess the ability to aid the mentally ill in any humane manner. The insane wasted away in jail cells as a way to get them off of the streets, or if families had sufficient wealth, they were sent out of state to the asylums in the north east. This also meant that if offenders were not convicted because of an insanity plea, they were simply released back into the community because no in state institutions existed to help them.
According to the 1840 census, there were 270 insane persons in Missouri, however more accurate estimates were over 1200. In 1845 Governor Marmaduke borrowed over $30,000 for a 100 patient asylum and Callaway County promised 500 acres and $12,500 to build the asylum there. The city of Fulton was chosen, which at the time had only 700 residents. This was an ideal location because being in central Missouri, it was accessible to people all over the state. The rural location also allowed staff to implement new methods of treatment which included isolation from theorized causes of insanity.
Dr. Turner RH Smith was appointed as the first superintendent of the asylum, and as was common with much of the staff in new Kirkbride asylums, he had no experience at all treating the mentally ill. This should not come as a surprise seeing as treatment of the insane was a new science and no medical schools taught courses in the subject. Dr. Smith began attending meetings with the superintendents of 13 asylums who together formed the American Psychiatric Association, the first national society of physicians in the United States.
In 1851 the hospital opened its doors and admitted 67 patients. The most common causes for admittance were epilepsy and tuberculosis but other cases ranged widely from indigestion to jealousy. According to reports written by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, initial treatments were cruel and included sensory deprivation, fast spinning chairs, and strait jackets. These practices were quickly abandoned and a theory of Moral Treatment was adopted.
In 1861, only 10 years after opening, the American civil war forced the hospital to close. Patients were sent away and the buildings were used as barracks for union soldiers. After closure for 2 years, the hospital reopened and by 1865 had admitted its first black patients. Patient population soon soared over 1000 by the early 20th century and the hospital consequently expanded and renovated in accordance with the ever so popular Kirkbride Plan. A special unit was even built to segregate the criminally insane, which had not previously been done at this location. In 1940 a new state maximum security correctional facility was opened for the criminally insane, and today it is the only maximum security mental facility west of the Mississippi River. New minimum and medium security facilities were opened along with facilities to aid juveniles and also services for recovering alcoholics and drug addicts.
On March 15th 1956 a fire badly damaged the original Kirkbride building and what remained of it was demolished. Today the Kirkbride no longer exists, and neither do any of the buildings pictured in this video. In the near future, the maximum security Biggs building too will be demolished. This is all to make way for a brand new state of the art mental facility.
