Cessnock

Cessnock is in New South Wales in the prominent wine region, The Hunter Valley. The growing popularity of the Valley as a destination for wine enthusiasts has enabled Cessnock to find a foothold in the tourism industry. Building from this, the town has tapped into other tourism markets offering visitors a range of activities including hot air ballooning and sky-diving. Cessnock is very involved in sports and the city has several local teams as well as participating in the nearby Newcastle clubs.

One of the town's great initiatives is a project called The Convict Trail that is striving to restore the Great North Road that was originally built by the convicts. The Werakata National Park is a notable attraction, filled with abundant bush land and wildlife. People are able to venture through the slopes and slants on mountain bikes or take more relaxed walking paths to discover perfect picnic locations.
