Alfords Point

Situated 28 kilometers south of Sydney's CBD, on the southern bank of Georges River, this quiet suburb is within the local government area of the Sutherland Shire. Bushland almost completely surrounds Alford's Point and residents have been victim to bushfires. One of the most dangerous having been in 1994 during the extensive Eastern seaboard fires, which threatened local homes and businesses.

In 1828, Jane Alford owned 20 hectares of land nearby and Alford was also the name originally given to an area of public land on the bank of the Georges River.

As of 2011, Alfords Point has 3,303 residents and features a small group of shops on Brushwood Drive, a primary school and a pre-school/kindergarten. Two sporting fields are located in the suburb, one on Casuarina Road and the other on Coachwood Crescent, where cricket and soccer are played.
Natural bushland is abundant in this area, with many walking paths accessible in summer.
