The Second Hundred Years may refer to:
The Second is the second studio album by Canadian-American rock band Steppenwolf, released in 1968 on ABC Dunhill Records. The album contains one of Steppenwolf's most famous songs, "Magic Carpet Ride". The background of the original ABC LP cover was a shiny "foil", in contrast to later (MCA Records) LP issues and the modern CD sleeve.
Featuring a style incorporating psychedelic music as well as aggressive hard rock, the release has received critical acclaim both when it came out as well as in later years. For example, Allmusic critic Bruce Eder stated that, though "highly derivative" of their first album, The Second had "very hard and edgy" tracks with the band "in excellent form".
All tracks composed by John Kay, except where indicated.
Monte Markham (born June 21, 1935) is an American actor. He has appeared in films, television series and on Broadway.
Markham was born in Manatee County, Florida, the son of Millie Content (née Willbur) and Jesse Edward Markham, Sr., who was a merchant.
Of his television roles, Markham is perhaps most famous for playing the dual role of Luke and Ken Carpenter in the 1967–68 ABC sitcom, The Second Hundred Years.
Markham is also widely remembered for his role as Perry Mason in the 1973-74 CBS update of the classic lawyer/detective series entitled The New Perry Mason.
Another of Markham's best known roles was as the racing-car-driver-turned-cyborg Barney Miller in the second-season episode of The Six Million Dollar Man entitled "The Seven Million Dollar Man," which first aired November 1, 1974. (Markham reprised the role—albeit with a character name change to Barney Hiller—in the third-season episode "The Bionic Criminal," which first aired just over a year later, on November 9, 1975.)
A year is the orbital period of the Earth moving in its orbit around the Sun. Due to the Earth's axial tilt, the course of a year sees the passing of the seasons, marked by changes in weather, the hours of daylight, and consequently vegetation and fertility. In temperate and subpolar regions, generally four seasons are recognized: spring, summer, autumn and winter. In seasonal tropical and subtropical regions, the wet (rainy or monsoon) season and the dry season are generally recognized.
A calendar year is an approximation of the Earth's orbital period in a given calendar. The Gregorian, or modern, calendar, presents the calendar year to be either a common year of 365 days or a leap year of 366 days, as does the Julian calendar; see below. The average year length across the complete leap cycle (400 years) of the Gregorian calendar is 365.2425 days. The ISO standard ISO 80000-3, Annex C, supports the symbol "a" (for Latin annus) to represent a year of either 365 or 366 days. In English, the abbreviations "y" and "yr" are used.
The second (symbol: s) (abbreviated s or sec) is the base unit of time in the International System of Units (SI). It is qualitatively defined as the second division of the hour by sixty, the first division by sixty being the minute. It is quantitatively defined in terms of a certain number of periods – about 9 billion – of a certain frequency of radiation from the caesium atom: a so-called atomic clock. Seconds may be measured using a mechanical, electric or atomic clock.

Short-lived 1967 sitcom starring Monte Markham and Arthur O'Connell.
I am convinced everyone was in it just for the money. They sold the idea to the network and they churned out whatever bilge they could come up with every week and the cash was green. Most of these same people produced "THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY." Maybe if Monte Markham had sung every week...
This Public Domain episode with Monte Markham and Arthur O'Connell is titled "Little Lady X" and guest stars Lurene Tuttle.
Beverlee McKinsey guest stars as Flo in the episode "Love on the Double" from the television show The Second Hundred Years.
Second Hundred Years with Monte Markham (1 of 3) No Experience Necessary (11/22/1967) The Second Hundred Years TV show was a 30 minute comedy series with a sci-fi twist that aired on ABC. It was about a man who was prospecting for gold in Alaska in the year 1900 when he became covered with snow in an avalanche. When he was thawed out 67 years later, he was alive, perfectly healthy and hadn't aged a day! Second Hundred Years Cast: Monte Markham ............. Luke Carpenter / Ken Carpenter Arthur O'Connell .......... Edwin Carpenter Frank Maxwell ............. Colonel Garroway Karen Black ............... Marcia Garroway Don Beddoe ................ Mr. Tolliver Bridget Hanley ............ Lieutenant Anderson
Monte Markham is an easily recognizable, nice, likable actor. He has starred in three series over the past forty years. Yet none lasted longer than the incredible 26 episodes of this series. I think the key to his failure is his style of acting. He is very theatrical in his delivery and should have been cast in anything that Robert Preston was not. I do not know if he can sing, but Monte Markham would have made a heckuva Professor Harold Hill.

The years betray me now
They usually count
Supposed to be getting by
Move along with time
Why not this time
At least, they should make me feel
How long it? s been
Help me to understand
What wasn't real
And teach what all means
Why do not these years count
He was such a stranger then
By now he should be again
It's too crazy to tell that man
I was in love, I still am
No, I can? t say I still love that man
The years should make a change
Make someone out of me
They should be here
To give a second chance
Show how to change the wheels
They should bring something real
