On the 15th of December 2014, Martin Place Sydney events unfolded that hours later would see Australians unite together in an amazing spectacle of remembrance. Only hours after the siege inside the Lindt cafe in Martin Place concluded the first flowers were laid. Two days later I took some time to visit the scene, pay respects and reflect. Here is some short clips I shot that can't even begin to do justice to the memorial that Sydney has built. #IllRideWithYou

Chima's favourite spot in Sydney is Martin Place. He grew up skating there every weekend, it's the spot were he caught a train to meet up with all his friends and skate around the city. It also happens to be one of the best spots in the world, you can start from and skate legitmate spots all the way down through 4 city blocks.

Sydney siege: Hostages taken in Martin Place Lindt cafe; black flag hung in window
A siege is taking place at a cafe in Sydney's central business district.
Police are advising people to steer clear of the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Martin Place.
Customers and a workers face are pressed up against a shop window inside the cafe.
Martin Place has been shut down and scores of police are surrounding the building after the alarm was raised about 9.45am.
Workers in nearby buildings, including the Seven Network, have been ordered to evacuate the area.
NSW government offices, including Premier Mike Baird's, are in the vicinity of the cafe.
A black flag with white writing on it, thought to be an Islamic flag, is being displayed from the window of the cafe.
Sydney Trains has announced a partial closure of the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra line between Central and Bondi Junction due to the police operation.

Sydney (

On the 15th of December 2014, Martin Place Sydney events unfolded that hours later would see Australians unite together in an amazing spectacle of remembrance. Only hours after the siege inside the Lindt cafe in Martin Place concluded the first flowers were laid. Two days later I took some time to visit the scene, pay respects and reflect. Police are advising people to steer clear of the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Martin Place. Customers and a workers face are pressed up against a shop window inside the cafe. The clip shows a white-haired man with an umbrella dancing by himself to loud electronic music.
As he continued to dance, the camera turns to a group of three police officers dancing off to the side of the square.
The old raver approached a constable from Rose Bay, who decided to let her hair down and begin mirroring the man's dance moves.
Video shows the duo entering the middle of the square, surrounded by dozens of onlookers, and breaking out some old-school moves together.
Crowds were gathered at Martin Place on Friday April 5 for a fundraiser called Time 4 Kids, as part of Youth Week which ran from April 5-14, NSW Police told ninemsn.
The event involved local personalities being locked up in an open jail until their "bail" money was raised for the PCYC.

My week in Sydney, Australia was simply the most memorable week I can recall. ..Maybe I'm being a bit biased since it's quite recent but it was a week for the a...
My week in Sydney, Australia was simply the most memorable week I can recall. ..Maybe I'm being a bit biased since it's quite recent but it was a week for the ages and I got a chance to spend it with an incredible host who I met in Guangzhou, China 6 weeks prior. I call her the Queen of Australia and the goddess of Oceania because she's quite something to behold...an incredible human being!
She really set the highest standard possible for what every vacation week should be. I tried so much and did even more and said "wow" more than a million times. Every moment felt so natural and special and of course the foods were as delicious as they were diverse. Omelettes, meat pies, pizzas, even sweet potatoes and regular fries delivered such tantalizing flavors to my senses. And of course I can't forget the people...The people in Sydney were extremely welcoming, friendly and adorable with hospitality and "tiny crowds." I often joked about how cute and tiny the crowds were and how fast and seamless you could get things done even during the supposedly "crowded" Vivid events (there's only about 4.5 million people in Sydney so the crowds were pretty small compared to other places I've visited, especially Shanghai, China.)
I did occasionally forget about the driving on the left side of the road and of course walking on the same side as well. Apparently, I crossed the streets extremely slowly. This trip truly expanded my horizon in every area imaginable and my passion for traveling has only been infused with more energy. There's so much to do, so much to taste and so much to experience. God grant me the strength because I am forever an Explorer and I refuse to age with regrets of things and places I didn't do and go! I do hope to see the Queen again. I certainly owe her one and I've made it clear to her that if she ever sets foot in North America, I'd be her host and I'll do my best to return the favor. Bondi Beach

Campbell Parade serves up a mixture of busy bars, seaside cafes, and the ever-popular Sunday market. Topless sunbathing is tolerated and swimmers should always swim within the patrolled areas marked by the red and yellow flags. The coastal walk, which starts at Bondi's southern end and runs along the coast to Coogee, is a must for any visitor.

Bondi Beach
Bondi is one of the world's most famous beaches, a crescent of sand strung between two rocky headlands, just 15 minutes from the city centre. Why am I doing this? I travel a lot. Too much. And recently I find myself rocking up in a city that I've never been to before and know very little about. On any level. Culture, language, transport, money, food, etc. But most travel shows are an hour-long, US-centric, full of bad information, and almost exclusively aimed at tourists. So I wanted to create something different. Something aimed at the frequent traveller, something portable and short-form. Something...useful.
In our pilot episode we get you in, out, and around the wonderful city of London, England. We tell you the best way to get from the airport into the city, the best way to get around, how much things cost, and why you should ALWAYS stand on the right.
In follow up episodes we'll be adding a food and drink segment, as well as tips on how to avoid those awkward social and business faux pas.
I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this and welcome any thoughts, feedback, ideas, and suggestions for future episodes. Travel is my passion and I'm excited to share it with you.

March 21, 2016: Chilling images of the Sydney siege gunman on his way to the Lindt Cafe have been released, as the final stage of inquest into the tragedy began today.
CCTV footage of gunman Man Haron Monis approaching the Lindt Café and manager Tori Johnson’s subsequent triple-zero call have been played at an official inquest into the Martin Place siege.
The footage – made available to the public for the first time – shows Monis walking through a busy Martin Place wearing an unremarkable backpack on the morning of December 15, 2014.
The same backpack is believed to have contained a sawn-off shotgun and knife, which were then used to threaten Mr Johnson into calling triple-zero.Mr Johnson’s harrowing call was also played at the inquest.
The café manager can be heard trying to explain to an operator his location, before insisting on reading Monis’ handwritten note.
“I need - I need to finish reading this message … sorry I have a gun in front of me,” Mr Johnson said.
“Australia is under attack by Islamic State. There are three bombs in three different locations: Martin Place, Circular Quay and George Street."Police should not come too close to me or other brothers otherwise they will explode the bombs. Some hostages have been taken.”The second triple-zero by a Lindt Café customer unable to gain access to the premises was also played, followed by more CCTV footage of the first police officer to attend the scene creeping forward along a side wall prior to calling for backup.
Counsel for Mr Johnson's family had previously asked that the triple-zero call not be played to the public.
Gabrielle Bashir SC told the hearing today that "grief and emotions" of the families of the victims had not subsided, and that they should be protected from further pain.
However counsel assisting, Jeremy Gormly SC, said the evidentiary significance of the calls were of the highest order, adding that it was during the calls that Monis announced himself to the world.
Monis took a total of 18 people hostage in what would later develop into a 17-hour standoff.
Both Mr Johnson and lawyer Katrina Dawson lost their lives during the siege.Monis was killed after tactical police stormed the cafe in the early hours of December 16.
The inquest will run for around eight weeks, during which it will hear from both the hostages and police who entered the cafe to end the siege.Coroner Michael Barnes is expected to hand down his findings later in the year.

INXS JD Fortune New Sensation Live Sydney 2005
Way back on the 9th of December 2005 I dragged myself out of bed early to see the 1st live performance of JD Fortune with INXS at Martin Place Sydney for channel 7's Sunrise morning program. Unfortunately I didn't get into the city early enough to see them perform their new song "Pretty Vegas" and there was already a large crowd. They had a barrier around the stage area for only about 200 people. I waited next to the entrance and was lucky enough to be let in just before they started rehearsing "New Sensation". The did 2 practice runs before the live broadcast. Afterwards they did an interview and signed some stuff. I went to Free School today and asked about the recent raid last thursday and that the media (channel 7 and the telegraph) said that 'at last occupy sydney ' had been gotten rid of or disbanded. Can't remember which word they used but the 'at last' part was what caught my attention. Then we had out Free School discussions. Then the boxes were put together and the police showed up. They were about to touch the boxes and they sprang to life....ah Box Monsters running up Martin place! After that the police took a table, some crates and a poster. -
Anti-Racist Counter Rally Queens Square - Sydney 4th April 2015
On April 4th an organisation named Reclaim Australia has called racist anti-Muslim rallies across the country. Their core demands include banning the burqa, opposition to halal food and stopping sharia law. It has attracted support from far right organisations such as the Australian Defence League. Unlike previous far right events this rally has attracted a large number of attendees on Facebook. Reclaim Australia is trying to win credibility by claiming it is not racist to be anti-Muslim. Our counter-protest aims to challenge this and make clear the racist nature of their event. We hope this will stop the hard core racists behind this event from building any greater support. Way back on the 9th of December 2005 I dragged myself out of bed early to see the 1st live performance of JD Fortune with INXS at Martin Place Sydney for channel 7's Sunrise morning program. Unfortunately I didn't get into the city early enough to see them perform their new song "Pretty Vegas" and there was already a large crowd.
They had a barrier around the stage area for only about 200 people. I waited next to the entrance and was lucky enough to be let in just before they started rehearsing "New Sensation". The did 2 practice runs before the live broadcast. Afterwards they did an interview and signed some stuff.

Can't remember which word they used but the 'at last' part was what caught my attention. Then we had out Free School discussions. Then the boxes were put together and the police showed up. They were about to touch the boxes and they sprang to life....ah Box Monsters running up Martin place! After that the police took a table, some crates and a poster.

On April 4th an organisation named Reclaim Australia has called racist anti-Muslim rallies across the country. Their core demands include banning the burqa, opposition to halal food and stopping sharia law. It has attracted support from far right organisations such as the Australian Defence League.
Unlike previous far right events this rally has attracted a large number of attendees on Facebook. Reclaim Australia is trying to win credibility by claiming it is not racist to be anti-Muslim. Our counter-protest aims to challenge this and make clear the racist nature of their event. We hope this will stop the hard core racists behind this event from building any greater support.
In Sydney they have called their rally outside the Lindt Café, where the Martin Place siege took place in December. But Man Haron Monis, an unstable individual with a history of bizarre actions, had no connection to any terrorist organisation. Even Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin has stated the siege had nothing to do with Islam. But Reclaim Australia is attempting to make a political link between terrorism, Islam and Martin Place.
MAINSTREAM ISLAMOPHOBIA
Islamophobia is already being peddled in the political mainstream. Tony Abbott and the mainstream media have labelled the entire Muslim community as responsible for terrorism.
Abbott has effectively accused Muslim leaders of sympathising with violence and terrorism, saying, “I've often heard Western leaders describe Islam as a 'religion of peace'. I wish more Muslim leaders would say that more often, and mean it.”
Abbott launched a scare campaign about terrorism following police raids in the western suburbs of Sydney and Melbourne, despite there being no evidence of any terror attack planned. Just one person was charged on terror-related crimes as a result.
The raids served to whip up fear and division in the community and allow the government to pass a raft of new and invasive anti-terror laws that curb civil liberties. The result has been a spate of violent attacks on Muslims around the country, especially visibly Muslim women who wear the hijab.
It is not a coincidence that Abbott has ramped up the Islamophobia while he keeps sinking in the polls. Across the world governments are using fear of Muslims, refugees and migrants to get away with budget cuts and austerity.
This is a desperate government trying to sow fear and xenophobia in the community as a distraction.

Two British teenagers accused of battering an alcoholic woman to death in 2014 have been sentenced to life in prison. The two girls, now 15, were convicted of murdering 39-year-old Angela Wrightson on April 5 after an eight-week crown court trail in Leeds, England, the Guardian reported.
