Recipe for Beginners - Delicious dal made by using pigeon peas (Arhar/Tuvar Dal) boiled and tempered in pure ghee with chopped garlic, curry leaves, coriander leaves and spices. Dal preparations can be eaten with rice and with wheat bread called roti. Dal has an exceptional nutritional value.

Learn how to make Dal Fry - Punjabi style at home which tastes delicious and is very easy to make.
Chef Ruchi Bharani brings you a popular dish from the Punjabi menu, that is, dal fry with tadka. Extremely nutritive and tempered with various spices, dal fry tastes delicious when served with jeera rice or naan or roti.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of yellow pigeon peas
1/2 cup of gram dal
1 onion finely chopped
1 and 1/2 tomato chopped
3-4 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
coriander leaves
2 green chillies finely chopped
1/2 tsp cumin seed
1 piece of cinnamon
2 pieces of cloves
1/2 tsp of red chilly powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1 and 1/2 tbsp of garlic finely chopped
salt to taste
1 dry red chilly
Method:
- Wash both the lentils thoroughly. Soak them for half an hour in 1 and half cup water. Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles.
- Heat about 1 & 1/2 tbsp of ghee (keeping the rest for tadka) in a pan.
- Add the seasoning ingredients- cumin seeds, cloves and the cinnamon stick.
- Add the onions and saute until translucent but make sure that they do not turn brown in colour.
- Add the tomatoes, green chillies,turmeric powder and red chilli powder and let the ingredients cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Pour in the boiled dal and mix well. Add water if required.
- Add salt and sprinkle some coriander leaves and let it boil for about 5 - 6 minutes.
Tadka:
- Heat the remaining ghee in a small pan.
- Add a whole dry red chilli and let it cook,
- Add 1/4 tsp asafoetida and chopped garlic.
- Stir and pour it all over the dal.

Dal (also spelled Dahl or Daal, or Dhal) is a preparation of pulses (dried lentils, peas or beans) which have been stripped of their outer hulls and split. It also refers to the thick stew prepared from these pulses, an important part of Indian, Nepali, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, West Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. It is regularly eaten with rice and vegetables in southern India, and with both rice and roti (wheat-based flat bread) throughout northern India and Pakistan. Dal is a ready source of proteins for a balanced diet containing little or no meat. Sri Lankan cooking of dal resembles that of southern Indian dishes.
The word dāl derives from the Sanskrit verbal root dal- 'to split'.
In South India, dal is often used to make sambar, a spicy soup of red lentils and vegetables cooked with tamarind, asafoetida and some vegetables. It is eaten with rice and rice dishes. In West India, dals are used to make curries to be eaten with rice. Dals are also used to make fermented preparations such as idli, dosa, in south and coastal India. In East India, rice is also the main accompaniment. In Sri Lanka, dal is most often consumed in a curry made with coconut milk.

Kent E. Hovind (born January 15, 1953) is an American young earth creationist. Hovind has spoken on creation science and has aimed to convince listeners to reject theories of evolution, geophysics, and cosmology in favor of the Genesis creation narrative from the Bible. Hovind's views are contradicted by scientific evidence and some of his ideas have also been criticized by young earth creationist organizations such as Answers in Genesis.
Hovind established the Creation Science Evangelism ministry in 1989, and frequently spoke on young Earth creationism at seminars at private schools and churches, debates, and on radio and television broadcasts. Since January 2007, Hovind has been serving a ten-year prison sentence after being convicted of 58 federal counts, including 12 tax offenses, one count of obstructing federal agents, and 45 counts of structuring cash transactions. He is incarcerated at the FPC Satellite Camp of the ADX Florence prison in Florence, Colorado.
On February 9, 1969, at the age of 16, Hovind became a born again Christian. In 1971, he graduated from East Peoria Community High School. He holds three degrees in Christian education (1974, 1988, 1991) from unaccredited institutions. He is married and has three adult children and five grandchildren. One of his sons, Eric Hovind, travels doing creationist presentations and debates using many of his father's arguments.

Indian meals are incomplete without dal. It makes a perfect combination with both, rice and roti. Check out chef Ruchi Bharani's take on the popular Gujarati Dal. Ingredients: 1 cup turdal (soaked for ½ hrs.) 1 tbsp. oil 1 small tomato (finely chopped) coriander leaves 1/4 tsp haldi 1/2 tsp. red chilli powder jaggery to taste 3/4 tsp. dhana jeera powder lemon juice to taste salt to taste For Seasoning Mustard seeds, jeera, hing, curry leaves, 1/2 dry red chilli, 4-5 cocum Method: - Pressure cook the dal with water for around 4-5 whistles and then churn it using a hand blender. - Heat the ghee / oil and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon pieces and cloves. Once the mustard seeds starts spluttering, break in the dry red chili, curry leaves, asafoetida and chopped tomatoes and stir everything well. - Cook it for a few seconds and then add the churned dal and water. - Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander and cumin seed powder, red chilli powder, cocum and give it a good mix. - Add the jaggery and coriander leaves and then let the dal boil for about 8-10 minutes on a low flame. - Once the dal is cooked, turn off the flame and serve it with rice or rotis. Learn how to make Dal Fry - Punjabi style at home which tastes delicious and is very easy to make.
Chef Ruchi Bharani brings you a popular dish from the Punjabi menu, that is, dal fry with tadka. Extremely nutritive and tempered with various spices, dal fry tastes delicious when served with jeera rice or naan or roti.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of yellow pigeon peas
1/2 cup of gram dal
1 onion finely chopped
1 and 1/2 tomato chopped
3-4 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
coriander leaves
2 green chillies finely chopped
1/2 tsp cumin seed
1 piece of cinnamon
2 pieces of cloves
1/2 tsp of red chilly powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1 and 1/2 tbsp of garlic finely chopped
salt to taste
1 dry red chilly
Method:
- Wash both the lentils thoroughly. Soak them for half an hour in 1 and half cup water. Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles.
- Heat about 1 & 1/2 tbsp of ghee (keeping the rest for tadka) in a pan.
- Add the seasoning ingredients- cumin seeds, cloves and the cinnamon stick.
- Add the onions and saute until translucent but make sure that they do not turn brown in colour.
- Add the tomatoes, green chillies,turmeric powder and red chilli powder and let the ingredients cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Pour in the boiled dal and mix well. Add water if required.
- Add salt and sprinkle some coriander leaves and let it boil for about 5 - 6 minutes.
Tadka:
- Heat the remaining ghee in a small pan.
- Add a whole dry red chilli and let it cook,
- Add 1/4 tsp asafoetida and chopped garlic.
- Stir and pour it all over the dal.

Indian meals are incomplete without dal. It makes a perfect combination with both, rice and roti. Check out chef Ruchi Bharani's take on the popular Gujarati Dal.
Ingredients:
1 cup turdal (soaked for ½ hrs.)
1 tbsp. oil
1 small tomato (finely chopped)
coriander leaves
1/4 tsp haldi
1/2 tsp. red chilli powder
jaggery to taste
3/4 tsp. dhana jeera powder
lemon juice to taste
salt to taste
For Seasoning
Mustard seeds, jeera, hing, curry leaves, 1/2 dry red chilli, 4-5 cocum
Method:
- Pressure cook the dal with water for around 4-5 whistles and then churn it using a hand blender.
- Heat the ghee / oil and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon pieces and cloves. Once the mustard seeds starts spluttering, break in the dry red chili, curry leaves, asafoetida and chopped tomatoes and stir everything well.
- Cook it for a few seconds and then add the churned dal and water.
- Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander and cumin seed powder, red chilli powder, cocum and give it a good mix.
- Add the jaggery and coriander leaves and then let the dal boil for about 8-10 minutes on a low flame.
- Once the dal is cooked, turn off the flame and serve it with rice or rotis.

DAL TADKA
Ingredients
½ cup split pigeon pea (toovar dal), soaked, drained and boiled with enough water and turmeric powder
½ cup split Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked, drained and boiled with enough water and turmeric powder
2 tablespoons ghee
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
A pinch of asafoetida
4-6 garlic cloves, chopped
1 inch ginger piece, chopped
2 medium onions, chopped
Salt to taste
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
¼ teaspoon cumin powder
½ teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon garam masala powder
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
Method
1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan and add cumin seeds. Once they
change colour, add asafetida and mix.
2. Add garlic and ginger and sauté on medium heat for a minute.
Add onions and a pinch of salt and sauté till the onions turn
golden brown.
3. Add tomatoes and sauté till they turn pulpy.
4. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder,
coriander powder and garam masala powder and mix well.
Cook for a minute and add the cooked grams and salt. Mix
well.
5. Add water if required and bring to a boil.
6. Add lemon juice and remove from heat.
7. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and
serve hot.

Watch how to make Dal Pakwan, a delicious and easy to make recipe by Ruchi Bharani.
Dal Pakwan is nothing but crispy poori with dal. It is a famous Sindhi breakfast combo. Add a variety to your breakfast menu by making these delicious Dal Pakwans because we bet, nothing can beat these aromatic breakfast dish on a relaxed morning.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Chana Dal, Soaked
2 Green Chillies, Slit
1/2 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
1 Onion, Finely Chopped
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
1/4 Tsp Turmeric Powder
2 Tbsp Tamarind Juice
1/2 Tsp Garam Masala
1 Tsp Ginger Paste
Salt To Taste
Coriander Leaves
For Pakwan:
1 Cup Plain Flour (Maida)
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
2 Tbsp Oil
Salt to Taste
Oil for frying
For Topping:
1 Onion, Finely Chopped
Coriander Leaves
Red Chilli Powder
Finely Chopped Green Chillies
Amchur Powder
Cumin Powder
Method:
For making dal:
- Heat oil in a cooker.
- Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds, finely chopped onion, finely chopped ginger, finely chopped green chillies and soaked chana dal (gram dal).
- Add the dry spices - aamchur powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt to taste and water (enough for the dal to soak) and then cover it with the pressure cooker lid and let it cook on a high flame upto two whistles.
- Once done, turn off the flame.
- Add coriander leaves and mix well. Take it out in a bowl.
To make pakwan:
- Make the dough using plain flour, oil, cumin seeds, water and little salt.
- Make small balls of the dough. Apply little oil on the working board and the rolling pin. Roll it into thin pakwans and cut it in the shape of a perfect circle using a lid. Prick the pakwans slightly using a fork so that they do not swell up like pooris.
- Fry the pakwans on low heat. Make sure that the pakwan is entirely submerged in the oil. Fry until they turn golden brown in colour.
To assemble:
- Layer the thick dal on the pakwan and then add a layer of sweet tamarind chutney on the top.
- Garnish with red chilli powder, cumin seed powder, chopped onions and some coriander leaves.
- The delicious Dal Pakwan is ready to be served.

Dal Pakwan is nothing but crispy poori with dal. It is a famous Sindhi breakfast combo. Add a variety to your breakfast menu by making these delicious Dal Pakwans because we bet, nothing can beat these aromatic breakfast dish on a relaxed morning.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Chana Dal, Soaked
2 Green Chillies, Slit
1/2 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
1 Onion, Finely Chopped
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
1/4 Tsp Turmeric Powder
2 Tbsp Tamarind Juice
1/2 Tsp Garam Masala
1 Tsp Ginger Paste
Salt To Taste
Coriander Leaves
For Pakwan:
1 Cup Plain Flour (Maida)
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
2 Tbsp Oil
Salt to Taste
Oil for frying
For Topping:
1 Onion, Finely Chopped
Coriander Leaves
Red Chilli Powder
Finely Chopped Green Chillies
Amchur Powder
Cumin Powder
Method:
For making dal:
- Heat oil in a cooker.
- Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds, finely chopped onion, finely chopped ginger, finely chopped green chillies and soaked chana dal (gram dal).
- Add the dry spices - aamchur powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt to taste and water (enough for the dal to soak) and then cover it with the pressure cooker lid and let it cook on a high flame upto two whistles.
- Once done, turn off the flame.
- Add coriander leaves and mix well. Take it out in a bowl.
To make pakwan:
- Make the dough using plain flour, oil, cumin seeds, water and little salt.

The only way they can prevent it's demolition is by paying him 2 Crore rupees, which they get from a gangster named Rudranarayan, who wants them to steal a video-tape from a bank. They do steal the video and in the process five guards are killed by Rudranarayan's men. The five get the money, but shortly thereafter are arrested by the police, tried in Court, and sentenced to be hanged. While they await their respective ends at death-row, another inmate, Bhaktavar Singh, is brought in and placed in their cell. When Bhaktavar hears their plight, he helps them to escape and even assists them to recover the tape, so that they can get the money to save their slum. What they do not know is that the tape contains confidential information that is of vital value to a dictator named Dadson, who together with Gajraj Daruwala, and others will leave no stone unturned to get the tape. What the six men do not know is that one of them is going to betray them - the one all of them have come to trust the most.

Liz Murray viene allevata da genitori amorevoli ma tossicodipendenti. In seguito ad una disgrazia, Liz a quindici anni rimane senza casa, ingegnandosi tra mille lavori per mantenersi gli studi.
La vera e triste storia di Liz Murray che, pur avendo tutto contro, riesce nell'impresa di costruirsi un futuro radioso, grazie alla sua caparbietà e alla sua intelligenza. Il film inizia con Liz che ci racconta la sua storia, dal rapporto con sua madre, con suo padre, l'avventura in un istituto, il periodo trascorso da senzatetto, fino all'opportunità di finire la scuola e di andare ad Harvard. Storia vera e triste quella di Liz che, si ritrova con 2 genitori tossicodipendenti malati di AIDS ed insieme ad una sorella un pò menefreghista, a vivere in una casa sporca e piena di degrado ad affrontare quitidianamente lo sguardo ostile della gente che, la giudica una poco di buono. Ma Liz non è così, in realtà è una ragazza brillante e piena di qualità e molto sensibile, sempre pronta a mettersi in gioco per riuscire ad uscire da quella situazione di fame e miseria in cui è nata.
