Saat tentara muda asal Irak ini terpojok akibat kepungan sniper dari ISIS, ketika berada di Kota Kirkuk, Irak, ia mungkin berfikir kalau ia akan kalah.
Dikutip dari Mirror (12/11/2015), daripada memilih untuk menyerah, ide brilian pun muncul di kepala prajurit pemberani ini agar bisa melarikan diri tanpa harus tertembak dan terbunuh.
Rekaman yang berhasil diambil oleh sebuah situs website bernama Topete GLZ, menunjukkan momen menegangkan saat tentara muda ini terlihat bersembunyi di balik sebuah batu, saat ia dihujani peluru dari musuh.
Ia berusaha melawan dengan menembak beberapa kali ke arah sniper tersebut, sebelum akhirnya menyadari kalau ia tak mungkin bisa menembak sniper tersebut.
Saat ia terlihat kehabisan peluru, daripada memilih untuk mengisi ulang senapannya dan kembali menembak, pemuda ini memikirkan sebuah cara pintar agar dapat tetap hidup.
Selama beberapa menit, ia terlihat membuat sebuah benda untuk mengalihkan perhatian, dengan cara menggunakan helm yang ia pakai dan merekatkannya dengan sebuah topi, sehingga terlihat menyerupai sebuah kepala.
Tentara ini kemudian berusaha untuk memunculkan benda tersebut di atas batu, saat sang sniper langsung menembaknya beberapa detik saat kepala palsu tersebut muncul, hingga akhirnya ia bisa langsung bergegas melarikan diri.

Ein besonderer Flüchtling beantragte 1999 Asyl in Deutschland. Rafid Ahmed Alwan behauptete, Mitarbeiter einer Anlage im Irak gewesen zu sein, in der chemische Kampfstoffe hergestellt würden. Stundenlang, tagelang wurde er vom BND verhört. Der deutsche Geheimdienst gab die Aussagen an die US-Administration weiter, unter dem Vorbehalt, dass es Zweifel an der Glaubwürdigkeit gäbe. Von den Amerikanern bekam der vermeintliche Zeuge den Codenamen "Curveball", wie jene angeschnittenen Bälle, die beim Baseball kurz vor dem Ziel die Richtung ändern. Die Regierung Bush verwendete seine Aussagen später als Beweis für Bagdads angebliche unerlaubte Waffenprogramme.
Der damalige US-Außenminister Colin Powell präsentierte sie sogar mit nachdrücklichen Zeichnungen im Februar 2003 vor dem UN-Sicherheitsrat. Das war die Begründung für den Einmarsch der so genannten "Koalition der Willigen" in den Irak. Der Krieg begann am 20. März 2003.
Später stellte sich heraus, dass Curveball die Inhalte seiner Aussagen frei erfunden hatte. Die Weltmacht USA war blamiert. Der Irak war zu diesem Zeitpunkt längst erobert und Saddam Hussein gestürzt. Massenvernichtungswaffen, der eigentliche Grund des Einmarsches in den Irak, wurden nie gefunden. Haben die Geheimdienste versagt, oder waren die Aussagen von Curveball willkommen, um einen Krieg gegen den Irak zu rechtfertigen?
Zehn Jahre nach dem Beginn des Krieges will die Dokumentation "Es begann mit einer Lüge" den Ereignissen im Vorfeld nachgehen. Welche Gründe gab es für die offensichtlichen Unwahrheiten? Warum lehnte es die damalige Bundesregierung unter Schröder und Fischer ab, sich an dem Krieg gegen den Irak zu beteiligen?
Die Dokumentation in Zusammenarbeit mit der BBC zeigt unter anderem, wie die Aussagen eines einzigen Informanten von der Weltmacht USA genutzt wurden, um einen umstrittenen Krieg zu führen. Im Mittelpunkt steht ein langes, exklusives Fernsehinterview mit Curveball.

Irak tiene el derecho de recurrir a cualquier medida posible, incluso la posibilidad de dirigirse al Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, si las tropas turcas no abandonan el territorio del país en 48 horas, comunica el primer ministro de Irak Haider al-Abadi, citado por RIA Novosti.
Según datos de las autoridades iraquíes, un batallón de tanques turco entró en la provincia de Nainawa, Irak, con la excusa de preparar a los militantes de brigadas populares kurdas que luchan contra el terrorismo.
Las autoridades de Irak exigieron que se retiraran las tropas turcas de sus territorios, subrayando que "es un acto de hostilidad". Por su parte, el jefe del Comité de Seguridad y Defensa de Irak advierte que los militares turcos podrán ser atacados si no se retiran.
Asimismo, el presidente de Irak, Fuad Masum, ha definido el despliegue de varios centenares de soldados turcos cerca de la ciudad iraquí de Mosul como "una violación de las normas y el derecho internacional".

El viernes pasado, una fuente de seguridad de Turquía comunicó sobre el despliegue de las tropas para entrenar a soldados iraquíes cerca de Mosul, una ciudad de más de un millón de habitantes que se encuentra bajo el control del Estado Islámico desde julio de 2014.
"Los soldados turcos han llegado a Bashiqa, en la región de Mosul. Están allí como parte de ejercicios de entrenamiento rutinarios. Un batallón ha cruzado a la región", afirmó la fuente. Otro funcionario turco dijo que los soldados se encontraban en esta región para entrenar a los combatientes kurdos peshmerga.
Los países de la coalición liderada por Estados Unidos contra el Estado Islámico tienen conocimiento de que Turquía he desplegado sus tropas en el norte de Irak para entrenar a soldados iraquíes, declaró este viernes una fuente de seguridad de Turquía a Reuters. Sin embargo, según dos funcionarios de defensa de Estados Unidos citados por Reuters, el despliegue de tropas de Turquía no forma parte de los esfuerzos de la coalición.

Iraq borders Syria to the northwest, Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, Jordan to the southwest and Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to the south. Iraq has a narrow section of coastline measuring 58 km (36 mi) on the northern Persian Gulf. The capital city, Baghdad is in the center-east of the country.
Two major rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, run through the center of Iraq, flowing from northwest to southeast. These provide Iraq with agriculturally capable land and contrast with the steppe and desert landscape that covers most of Western Asia.
Historically, Iraq was the center of the Abbasid Arabic Islamic Empire. Iraq has been known to the west by the Greek toponym 'Mesopotamia' (Land between the rivers) and has been home to continuous successive civilizations since the 6th millennium BC. The region between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers is often referred to as the cradle of civilization and the birthplace of writing, law and the wheel. At different periods in its history, Iraq was the center of the indigenous Akkadian, Sumerian, Assyrian, Babylonian, and Abbasid empires. It was also part of the Achaemenid, Hellenistic, Parthian, Sassanid, Roman, Rashidun, Umayyad, Mongol, Safavid, Afsharid, and Ottoman empires, and under British control as a League of Nations mandate.

Rafid Ahmed Alwan behauptete, Mitarbeiter einer Anlage im Irak gewesen zu sein, in der chemische Kampfstoffe hergestellt würden. Stundenlang, tagelang wurde er vom BND verhört. Die Regierung Bush verwendete seine Aussagen später als Beweis für Bagdads angebliche unerlaubte Waffenprogramme. Der damalige US-Außenminister Colin Powell präsentierte sie sogar mit nachdrücklichen Zeichnungen im Februar 2003 vor dem UN-Sicherheitsrat. Das war die Begründung für den Einmarsch der so genannten "Koalition der Willigen" in den Irak. Der Krieg begann am 20. März 2003. Später stellte sich heraus, dass Curveball die Inhalte seiner Aussagen frei erfunden hatte. Die Weltmacht USA war blamiert. Der Irak war zu diesem Zeitpunkt längst erobert und Saddam Hussein gestürzt. Massenvernichtungswaffen, der eigentliche Grund des Einmarsches in den Irak, wurden nie gefunden. Haben die Geheimdienste versagt, oder waren die Aussagen von Curveball willkommen, um einen Krieg gegen den Irak zu rechtfertigen? Zehn Jahre nach dem Beginn des Krieges will die Dokumentation "Es begann mit einer Lüge" den Ereignissen im Vorfeld nachgehen. Welche Gründe gab es für die offensichtlichen Unwahrheiten? Dikutip dari Mirror (12/11/2015), daripada memilih untuk menyerah, ide brilian pun muncul di kepala prajurit pemberani ini agar bisa melarikan diri tanpa harus tertembak dan terbunuh.
Rekaman yang berhasil diambil oleh sebuah situs website bernama Topete GLZ, menunjukkan momen menegangkan saat tentara muda ini terlihat bersembunyi di balik sebuah batu, saat ia dihujani peluru dari musuh.
Ia berusaha melawan dengan menembak beberapa kali ke arah sniper tersebut, sebelum akhirnya menyadari kalau ia tak mungkin bisa menembak sniper tersebut.
Saat ia terlihat kehabisan peluru, daripada memilih untuk mengisi ulang senapannya dan kembali menembak, pemuda ini memikirkan sebuah cara pintar agar dapat tetap hidup.
Selama beberapa menit, ia terlihat membuat sebuah benda untuk mengalihkan perhatian, dengan cara menggunakan helm yang ia pakai dan merekatkannya dengan sebuah topi, sehingga terlihat menyerupai sebuah kepala.
Tentara ini kemudian berusaha untuk memunculkan benda tersebut di atas batu, saat sang sniper langsung menembaknya beberapa detik saat kepala palsu tersebut muncul, hingga akhirnya ia bisa langsung bergegas melarikan diri.

Von den Amerikanern bekam der vermeintliche Zeuge den Codenamen "Curveball", wie jene angeschnittenen Bälle, die beim Baseball kurz vor dem Ziel die Richtung ändern. Die Regierung Bush verwendete seine Aussagen später als Beweis für Bagdads angebliche unerlaubte Waffenprogramme.
Der damalige US-Außenminister Colin Powell präsentierte sie sogar mit nachdrücklichen Zeichnungen im Februar 2003 vor dem UN-Sicherheitsrat. Das war die Begründung für den Einmarsch der so genannten "Koalition der Willigen" in den Irak. Der Krieg begann am 20. März 2003.
Später stellte sich heraus, dass Curveball die Inhalte seiner Aussagen frei erfunden hatte. Die Weltmacht USA war blamiert. Irak tiene el derecho de recurrir a cualquier medida posible, incluso la posibilidad de dirigirse al Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, si las tropas turcas no abandonan el territorio del país en 48 horas, comunica el primer ministro de Irak Haider al-Abadi, citado por RIA Novosti.
Según datos de las autoridades iraquíes, un batallón de tanques turco entró en la provincia de Nainawa, Irak, con la excusa de preparar a los militantes de brigadas populares kurdas que luchan contra el terrorismo.
Las autoridades de Irak exigieron que se retiraran las tropas turcas de sus territorios, subrayando que "es un acto de hostilidad". Por su parte, el jefe del Comité de Seguridad y Defensa de Irak advierte que los militares turcos podrán ser atacados si no se retiran.

Getting There: Iraqi Kurdistan has two international airports, Erbil and Sulaimany. Currently there are direct international flights from Kurdistan to Dubai, Amman, Beirut and Frankfort.
There is the option to reach to Kurdistan by flying to Turkey: - Purchase a ticket to Diyarbakir (the nearest large city to the Turkish / Iraqi Kurdistan border). Upon arrival to the Diyarbakir airport, you will need to take a taxi to the border (Ibrahim Khalil / Habur). Once you have crossed the Turkish border into Iraqi Kurdistan (Ibrahim Khalil/Habur), you will be greeted by the Kurdish customs officials who will issue you a visa and further information on your destination.
Getting Around Iraqi Kurdistan: Taxi, Bus, and Private Car Hire. If you are mainly interested in staying in a city, taxi is reliable and good value for money. An average charge within a city drive is 2 dollers, as for the Bus it is definitely cheaper. To hire a car with or without driver could be the option for you. You can have your own chauffeur at your disposal throughout your stay. This will offer you the choice to travel short or long distances. A local driver has the knowledge and will advise you throughout your visit.

This city is regarded as one of the most deep-rooted Governorate in the area, its history begins before A.D. The city was established 6000 prior to A.D. The name of Erbil city has been found in the Somarian transcripts. The city was the main station for The God Ashtar which was the main goddess which was worshiped at that era. The city is a key element for eastern part and Kurdistan Region defining. Geographical Data: Erbil city is located east to Sulaymanyah Governorate and it is only 350 km from Baghdad. The city is surrounded by Nineveh from west and Kirkuk city from east and Iran and Turkey from North. There are two Museum, Erbil citadel museum, which is located in the citadel. It contains about 40 antique parts and anc-ient heritages. The second one is Erbil museum which includes about 5000 ancient parts, which deep-rooted in the history.
Sulaimani City, One of the major cities in both Kurdistan region and Iraq, situated 385 Km north Baghdad and 198 Km north east Erbil the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan Region. The city sits between two chains of mountains (Goyzha & Glazarda), The city was founded by Ibrahim Pasha in the year 1784. Today Sulaimani has developed in most modern life aspects, hotels, motels, supermarkets & Malls, theatres, restaurants & Parks. From the cultural perspective, Sulaimani is considered to be the capital of Kurdish culture, the famous old Saray situates at the center of the city, while many museums are distributed. Sulaimani Embrace several universities & Educational Institutions both Public & Private, in addition to the American University.
Duhok City is the center of Duhok prefecture (governorate) one of main cities in Kurdistan Region. It situates north Iraq, close to both Syrian & Turkish borders. Duhok city is on plane ground between 2 mountain chains, Shandukha from the south and Spi from the north, while mountain Seen stands on the east. On the west side a plane area could be seen with a tourism environment. The majority of citizens are Kurds; they live peacefully with Chaldean, Assyrian, Armenian and Yazidi minorities. Duhok city is famous with historical sites in which sculptures could be seen on the rocks. Yazidic cultural museum, playground for kids, small zoo. The city embraces Duhok University and many cultural centers. Some most important tourist sites inside the city include Masjed Haj Ahmad considered to be the the biggest Masjed of Duhok and Mart Alaha Church the oldest church in Duhok
Kalar, is the administrative center of Garmyan district. It lies 140 Km southeast of Sulaimani prefecture and 30 Km from the Iranian border. Kalar consists of 27 quarters of a population of about 250,000 residents. Kalar is located on a large plain area embracing many historical sites related to different periods; BC, AD, and Islamic periods. Shirwana Citadel, Pasha Citadel and Christian Canal are examples of AD historical sites. In winter, temperatures may reach 2˚C.

Following the liberation of Iraq in 2003, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) decided to transform Erbil's former military base into a modern civil aviation airport to serve as a major gateway to the world. Erbil International Airport (EIA) officially opened on July 7, 2005, and it welcomed its first IATA carrier on 11th December 2006. The KRG has enacted favorable rules to attract foreign investors and to help citizens of the Kurdistan Region in exile return home. Domestic traffic, as well as regional traffic throughout the expansive Middle East, is growing. Kurdistan's great natural resources of oil, natural gas and other minerals are creating a flourishing and rapidly growing business environment. Kurdistan is previously in exile are returning, bringing with them connections to other lands. There is an ever stronger need for efficient air transport, for passengers as well as cargo. The Erbil area has a stable water supply, and is surrounded by scenic and accessible wilderness lands, with greenery, clean streams, waterfalls and caves. This stands in stark contrast to other Middle Eastern destinations,and visitors will fuel an important tourism industry in Kurdistan. The Islamic State, a hardline Sunni jihadist group that formerly had ties to al Qaeda, has conquered large swathes of Iraq and Syria. Previously known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the group has announced its intention to reestablish the caliphate and has declared its leader, the shadowy Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as the caliph.
The lightning advances the Islamic State made across Syria and Iraq in June shocked the world. But it's not just the group's military victories that have garnered attention — it's also the pace with which its members have begun to carve out a viable state.
Flush with cash and US weapons seized during its advances in Iraq, the Islamic State's expansion shows no sign of slowing down. In the first week of August alone, Islamic State fighters have taken over new areas in northern Iraq, encroaching on Kurdish territory and sending Christians and other minorities fleeing as reports of massacres emerged.
VICE News reporter Medyan Dairieh spent three weeks embedded with the Islamic State, gaining unprecedented access to the group in Iraq and Syria as the first and only journalist to document its inner workings.
