In this episode we deliver five expert top tips for commuting on the
London underground.
The signs on the
London tube network are designed to move people along & to avoid overcrowding, not neccesarily to speed up your journey. When changing from the
Jubilee line to the
Piccadilly line at
Green Park station don't follow the signs, it is quicker to follow the signs to the exit and then go back down. At
Victoria station at peak rush hour times if there is a queue to get onto the
Victoria Line follow the signs to the
District line & then head to the
Victoria line from there. At
Kings Cross St Pancres underground station always follow the signs to the
Hammersmith & City line which will lead you to the old ticket hall by the
Euston Road exit. All the tube lines are there:
Victoria,
Northern,
Piccadilly,
Metropolitan,
Circle &
Hammersmith & City.
It is often quicker to walk between stations rather than get the London underground. It is quicker to walk between
Charing Cross station &
Embankment station,
Bank station &
Cannon Street station,
Mansion House station &
St Pauls station,
Lancaster Gate station &
Paddington station,
Warren Street station &
Euston Square station.
Check out the link to TFL's geographical tube map below.
TFL have a map showing you where all the toilets are on the London underground, it also tells you if the bathrooms are inside or outside of the ticket barriers.
It is good to know where the exits are on a tube platform. Two apps that give you this information so you sit in the right carriage on the tube are tube exits for iPhone & tube assistant for android. The links to both apps are below.
Having to get from
North London to
South London can sometimes take a long time. Our advice is to try & use the Victoria line or
Thameslink line. They are the quickest ways of getting from north to south.
