The Australian Open is a major tennis tournament held annually over the last fortnight of January in Melbourne, Australia. First held in 1905, the tournament is chronologically the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events of the year – the other three being the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. It features men's and women's singles; men's, women's and mixed doubles and junior's championships; as well as wheelchair, legends and exhibition events. Prior to 1988 the tournament had been played on grass. Since 1988 two types of hardcourt surfaces have been used at Melbourne Park – green Rebound Ace to 2007 and blue Plexicushion from 2008.
The Australian Open typically has high attendance, second only to the US Open. It was also the first Grand Slam tournament to feature indoor play during wet weather or extreme heat with its three primary courts, the Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena and the refurbished Margaret Court Arena equipped with retractable roofs.
The Australian Open is managed by Tennis Australia, formerly the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia (LTAA), and was first played at the Warehouseman's Cricket Ground in Melbourne in 1905. This facility is now known as the Albert Reserve Tennis Centre.
Table tennis, also known as ping pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a table using a small paddle. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce one time on their side of the table, and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side at least once. Points are scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. When doing so the hitter has a better chance of scoring if the spin is successful.
Table tennis is governed by the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation, founded in 1926. ITTF currently includes 220 member associations. The table tennis official rules are specified in the ITTF handbook. Table tennis has been an Olympic sport since 1988, with several event categories. In particular, from 1988 until 2004, these were: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles. Since 2008, a team event has been played instead of the doubles.
Liu Shiwen (simplified Chinese: 刘诗雯; traditional Chinese: 劉詩雯; pinyin: Liú Shīwén; born 12 April 1991) is a Chinese table tennis player. She was the winner of 2009, 2012 and 2013 World Cup, 8 times winner of Pro Tour, winner of 2011, 2012 and 2013 Pro Tour Grand Final and the winner of Asian cup in 2010, 2012 and 2013. those times feel so distant grey
are these someone else’s memories?
We were brothers
tied to each other’s days
we were known and loved by the sun
feared by our enemies
when did you cross over to this sleeping wake vacant
stare cuts right through words and leaves the thought
stopped dead
inside far is it lost
such a might
why exhaust?
but you aren’t the same
you forgot your strength
when you were before you’d
break through that door and destroy the day
but now you don’t go through that door
and now I hate that you do what you’re told to do that’s
not you yeah well now you’ve got to go back to seek what
you knew and I can’t stand to see you cower anymore
swear, never tire from this road
dont you ever hold
change should be your home
