Zoom H4N vs Zoom H2N Audio Test. Decided to do a wee test comparing the built in mics of the Zoom H4N and the Zoom H2N. Recently picked up a Zoom H2N simply because its battery life is 5x better than the Zoom H4N, which I sometimes use as a backup "room audio" source for my work.
In the first test it's pretty obvious the Zoom H4N is clearer and warmer sounding, this actually has alot to do with the way I was holding the Zoom H2N (pointing the top of it towards my mouth rather than the side of it). The second test shows that they are both close in terms of audio quality but the Zoom H4N still tops it in terms of stereo (speech) recording.
I didn't actually realize the thread (for a tripod) is on the bottom of the Zoom H2N, meaning you have to have it in an upright position, which actually blatantly makes sense given it can recorder 4 channel surround sound and mid-side recording patterns. While the battery life does appeal, I may go for the Tascam DR-05 or DR-07 ii and give them a try now in comparison to the Zoom H4N.
Filmed with Canon 70D with 17-55 f2.8 IS lens ( hear it the auto-focusing working) oh yeah!!! lol - more reviews and tips coming soon

I use it to record my videos for YouTube. It can also give you spectacular sound when recording live music. Use it for recording a demo for bands or any personal recording where sound quality is of upmost importance.
In this video I demonstrate the difference between three recordings. #1 is the sound coming straight from the built in mic of a Nikon D7000. #2 demonstrates the sound quality when an Azden SGM X is mounted as an external mic on the shoe of the Nikon D7000. #3 demonstrates the superior sound quality when the Zoom H2N was used to record the audio. On this recording, I used Sony Movie Studio 12 as my editing program. I show how I added the audio file from the Zoom to the timeline, aligned the tracks, then deleted the sound coming from the camera, leaving the audio from the Zoom H2N with the video portion of the recording.

I did this test on a really windy day to see how the H2n sounded with a little wind screen on it. Near the end I turn up the gain from 7 to 10 (on the video I say I turn it up to 7 haha). The audio was recorded in the midside setting. If you ask me, I need to get a better windscreen ;) -

Zoom H4N vs Zoom H2N Audio Test. Decided to do a wee test comparing the built in mics of the Zoom H4N and the Zoom H2N. Recently picked up a Zoom H2N simply because its battery life is 5x better than the Zoom H4N, which I sometimes use as a backup "room audio" source for my work.
In the first test it's pretty obvious the Zoom H4N is clearer and warmer sounding, this actually has alot to do with the way I was holding the Zoom H2N (pointing the top of it towards my mouth rather than the side of it). The second test shows that they are both close in terms of audio quality but the Zoom H4N still tops it in terms of stereo (speech) recording.
I didn't actually realize the thread (for a tripod) is on the bottom of the Zoom H2N, meaning you have to have it in an upright position, which actually blatantly makes sense given it can recorder 4 channel surround sound and mid-side recording patterns. While the battery life does appeal, I may go for the Tascam DR-05 or DR-07 ii and give them a try now in comparison to the Zoom H4N.
Filmed with Canon 70D with 17-55 f2.8 IS lens ( hear it the auto-focusing working) oh yeah!!! lol - more reviews and tips coming soon

I use it to record my videos for YouTube. It can also give you spectacular sound when recording live music. Use it for recording a demo for bands or any personal recording where sound quality is of upmost importance.
In this video I demonstrate the difference between three recordings. #1 is the sound coming straight from the built in mic of a Nikon D7000. #2 demonstrates the sound quality when an Azden SGM X is mounted as an external mic on the shoe of the Nikon D7000. #3 demonstrates the superior sound quality when the Zoom H2N was used to record the audio. On this recording, I used Sony Movie Studio 12 as my editing program. I show how I added the audio file from the Zoom to the timeline, aligned the tracks, then deleted the sound coming from the camera, leaving the audio from the Zoom H2N with the video portion of the recording.

Для тех кто будет посредством Zoom H2n писать рояль советую заглянуть по этой ссылке http://forum.websound.ru/index.php?sh... Моя запись не дорогово старенького саксофона на Zoom H2n в режиме рекордера-к ПК не подключен(не режим USB микрофона)+ микрофон прищепка Audio-technica ATR 3350(30$). Прикреплена прищепка была на раструб саксофона, микрофон расположен в силу устройства прищепки под 90° к "выхлопу" звука. Приложен файл для сравнения с той же минусовкой+ тот же саксафон и та жа же музыкальная композиция. Записан файл на пару студийных конденсаторников "Октава МК105"(400$). Звуковая карта- двухканальная USB " Lexicon I-Onix U22"(350$). Дистанция от микрофонов до раструба саксафона порядка 20-30... -

Zoom H2N Live Rock Bands Test
This recording is from my friend's H2N which with me to watch this rock show. Use wav format but he mixdown with mp3 and delete source wav.And Youtube will encode again,so the sound qualiy is not such good,but it can show you H2N perfomance somehow. In the whole show, there are 4 different style bands (also with extra one person solo playing etc.) About the postion, H2N is put on the left of live huge speakers, turn a little to the main singer, not perfectly in the middle of the room,but H2N still works great. To me,H2N is pretty good! -

The Zoom H5 impressed me the moment I first held it. Although spent a lot of time looking a pictures and videos of it online, I still expected it to be larger. The Zoom H5 fits very comfortable in the hand and weighs less that I imagined. All of the controls are easy to reach and manipulate with a single hand. The Zoom H5 does not feel cheap at all. The body of the Zoom H5 is made of a rubberized plastic that will keep the device firmly in your hand. Like its big brother the Zoom H6, the Zoom H5 has interchangeable capsules. It ships with the XYH-5 capsule which has a pair of condenser microphones in a 90° pattern. The microphones are housed in a rubberized shock mount which will reduce noise from handling the device, and the XYH-5 capsule is made from a durable metal housing.
If I could improve the Zoom H5 I would add a noise gate and include a higher capacity memory card (it ships with a 2 GB MICRO SD card). However, these are relatively minor issues and don't downgrade my opinion of the Zoom H5. I give the Zoom H5 an A++ rating!
