11.1.1 Describe and give examples of random uncertainties and systematic errors IB Chemistry
A systematic error will produce data that is ALWAYS too high or ALWAYS too low - more data collection will not fix this - fix your system (machine). Random errors (the IB say uncertainty - same thing) happen when data is gathered and is equally likely to be too high or too low. Take more data and average it to fix this.

Systematic Errors
Systematic Errors
Systematic ErrorsMeasurement errors can be accidental and systematic. We shall explain the essence of a systematic error by the following example. Let's change resistance of R2 resistor in the circuit shown in the figure. In this case the whole measuring scale shifts over a certain value. So in order to get true measurement values we shall have to add or subtract a certain constant to the acquired value. The other case is when we change R5 resistance without changing R2 resistance. Here we change conversion conductance or characteristic slope. Thus we shall have to multiple instrument readings by a constant factor k. Both types of errors are closely connected with the concepts of additive and multiplicative errors. The first case is an example of an additive error while the second is an example of a multiplicative error. Unfortunately we have to put up with the fact that there are limitations to mathematical methods of error handling. Mathematical statistics handles only accidental errors. Calibration and graduation are the only ways of avoiding systematic errors. Well, of course, we can also select components. Calibration is different from graduation. When calibrating we change circuit constants so that the instrument readings correspond to the readings of a reference or known-good device. When graduating the circuit remains unchanged. We just register the reading bias and find the dependence of a true value on the device's output signal. The dependence can be presented ...

Chem Basics - Uncertainty and errors of a measurement | College & AP Chemistry Tutorial 20
igetCHEM.com - 200 CHEMISTRY Exam Problems, Solutions and Tutorials. Converting a measurement from one set of unit to another is a common task in chemistry. Unit conversion is most easily carried out using dimensional analysis. This tutorial discusses what the uncertainty of a measurement means and how to describe the statistical and systematic errors of a measurement

In this lesson, Prof. Yee discusses precision and accuracy in measurements. He explains that all measurements will have a degree of uncertainty due to instrumentation, and the range of uncertainty will appear in the last digit of the measurement. You want to have measurements that are both precise and accurate. Precision is the reproducibility of the measurement of a quantity and is tied to the concept of random error. Prof. Yee uses a ruler as an example of precision. Accuracy refers to how close a measurement is to a hypothetical true value. It is possible for a measurement to be precise but not accurate if there is a systematic error. Systematic error is an error inherent to the measurement of a value, such as a clock that is consistently 5 minutes fast. Finally, Prof. Yee explains the relationship between precision and accuracy using a game of darts. Taught by Professor Yee, this lesson was selected from a broader, comprehensive course, Chemistry.

11.1.3 Describe how the effects of random errors (uncertainties) may be reduced IB Chemistry
Reduce random errors by taking more data and averaging them. Systematic errors cannot be fixed this way since the data is always too high or always too low. Fix your system (machinery) - clean it, calibrate it etc. All students who measured more than20ml out have an uncertain future...

Gray's Anatomy: Thoughts on Politics, Religion and the Meaning of life
Speaker: Professor John Gray Chair: Richard Reeves This event was recorded on 30 April 2009 in Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House The world has entered a period of crisis and upheaval in which the ideologies of the past give little guidance. How did it reach its present condition? Is there a pattern of thinking that has led governments to make systematic errors? In conversation with Richard Reeves, John Gray will ask what went wrong and what we can expect in future. John Gray is emeritus professor of European thought at the LSE and author of Gray's Anatomy. Richard Reeves is Director of the think-tank Demos.

PhyloFacts: Integrating Evolutionary and Structural Analyses
April 25, 2007 Protein families evolve a multiplicity of functions and structures through gene duplication, domain shuffling, speciation and other processes. Phylogenomic analysis, combining phylogenetic tree construction, integration of experimental data, and differentiation of orthologs and paralogs, has been shown to address the systematic errors associated with standard protocols of protein function prediction.

Systematic Execution - Malevolent Creation
Systematic Execution - Malevolent Creation
Systematic Execution lyrics Rounded up, herded in, innocence served.Tortured, various phases, in witness of family you die.Hot steel prods into your eyes.Executioner nods, optics spew.Tanks roll foreword claiming lives.Focus of death, nothing new.Innocent families left to die.Soldiers murder, God defied.Iron fist falls heavy with lust.Systematic execution.Playing God with his thoughts. No retribution.Forever the souls will haunt.Systematic execution.Military machines, steel warped with hate.Death from above, precision bombing translates final acts.Engines whine, tear through the night.Weary low morale, caught up in the sights.Soldiers march, take your land.Resistance end in slaughter.Dying screams clutter the sands.Echoing sounds, chaotic laughter. The sun is killed, behind a blackened sky.The son is killed, a father watches him die.Systematic execution.Playing God with his thoughts. No retribution.Forever the souls will haunt.Wings of death carry your carcass into the realms of terror.Crushed beneath the wheels of war.Doctrine of greed violently implored.
