Really bad news today, the made in China egg incubator made by http://china-incubators.com Dezhou Runde Metal Products Company Ltd died today after only 6 days of use.
I had to go to town to grab some things and noticed when I came through the door that there was no fan noise coming from the incubator room.
I opened the duck egg incubator door and the main fan blade on the back of the system was almost stopped rotating, the fan motor had just died.
Needless to say I had to start to scramble to fix this situation or I was going to lose my duck & goose eggs, without this fan running I would get hot spots in the incubator and could end up cooking the eggs.
Even with the spare parts I had bought just for this reason wasn't going to help me once I started to investigate how I was going to fix this problem, it was time for me to MacGyver something to keep the duck egg hatching adventure going.

Today it's the Pekin's turn to free range and they didn't waste anytime coming out even with Dug in the way at the gate.
Mr. Gimp the Rouen drake is having a much better time living with the Pekin ducks, they aren't picking on him at all.
Last night I butchered a Muscovy duck and Dug couldn't wait to have it today for breakfast, which is funny because the first one I gave him he left it on the lawn and it took him 2 days to eat it, now he doesn't hesitate.
Dug really doesn't like the ducks mating, when he hears a female duck in distress he gets upset and goes towards them and the drakes brake off the mating, it sort of confuses Dug because it's one duck doing it to another.
Today the chickens were pretending to be ducks again and were rolling around in the mud.

Today I made the decision to take a chance to repair the incubator and take it apart and replace the broken fan, I figured since there is a really good chance the eggs that are in the incubator are a lost cause I figured I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I got everything ready for the changing of the main fan in the incubator, now this replacement fan I'm putting in is not a warranty replacement; it's the extra fan I purchased from the Chinese manufacturer Dezhou Runde Metal Products Company in China. The manufacturer still will not honour the warranty of the unit, won't send me replacement parts for the ones that have stopped working, and wouldn't respond to emails for over 3 weeks.
They are now lying to me on Skype saying they are sending parts to me and then 4 days later tell me to do some more tests, this company is on to be avoided at all costs absolute scum Chinese manufacturer the worst kind.

Changing the fan was quite the job, one nothing matches even the spare fan which is the same as the one I'm taking out the mounting holes didn't match up, I had to drill it out to make it work. Also the jimmy rigged spacers they made to hold the fan in the receiver I've done better manufacturing in my garage.
Took 67 minutes to change the fan and less than 4 minutes later the new fan was making a grinding sound, so I'm counting on it to stop working any day also.
The gosling I helped out of it's shell yesterday is still really week and might not make it, it's been over 16 hours of shaking and normally when they shake this much means they are on their way out not into this world.
Once I was done the repair I checked on the rescue gosling and noticed it could not get off it's back at all, what was happening was it had egg shell stuck to the back of it's leg and that was causing it not to have use of the that leg and couldn't flip it self over to stand up.
I made it up a warm bath of 105°F water to soak it and get the egg of the poor little thing, once I got the egg shell of it's back the little guy could stand up on it's own, dried it off and put it back into the hatcher for tonight and we'll see what it's like in the morning.
Another curve ball today is the cool air after the storm is causing the relative humidity to fall to less than 30% and the hatcher can't keep the humidity above 50%, even with 6 trays of water and the home made humidity generator going non stop the humidity won't increase.
I'm going into town today to return the small fan that didn't work in the hatcher the first time and I'm going to find a steam humidifier that is under 1,000 watts of power consumption that I can put into the hatcher because my homemade ones are doing the job.
Picked up a perfect little humidifier unit and got back home and installed it in the hatcher within 10 minutes the humidity was above 55% and climbing. It looks like I've solved the problem concerning the lack of humidity now in the hatcher, should have bought one of these right from the start, live and learn...

Dezhou Runde Metal Company made in China egg incubator stops working again, on 9 days since I replaced the main fan motor the first one stopped after 6 days. I think this next hatch of eggs just got cooked again, this company is unbelievable the absolute garbage they make.
I've since talked to the factory on Skype and there is no warranty on the spare fan motor I bought from the factory when I bought the original incubator, and you are going to love this one the customer service person Sally told me to contact my original sales person Melinda for a replacement fan motor, but Melinda doesn't work for the company anymore she has gone back to school.
This company Dezhou Runde Metal Company from China are a very untrustworthy company and should be avoided at all costs, crooks is all I can say about them.

6 am and still only 1 Muscovy duckling has hatched so far which isn't a good sign since today is hatch day, I've got a real bad feeling this Muscovy hatch is dead also the incubator from hell killed them all again.
The ducklings did a pretty good morning rush today coming out of the barn, it was almost none stop duckling train.
Last night I turned out the light in the barn to see if that helped in reducing the water consumption in the barn, well it did help a touch instead of running out of water around 5 am, at 6 am there was still about ½ litre left in the hanging water pail.
Today I separated Ms. Gimp from the flock and put her in the pen by herself, she spent over 40 minutes in the kiddie pool cleaning her self, and she was pretty dirty.
I'm hoping the egg killing incubator from china hasn't killed all the ducklings last night with the fan dying again, I'm loading the eggs into the hatcher as fast as possible this morning and misting them right away to cool them down some. I hope it's not too late to save them, I didn't want to through 248 eggs into the garburator and kill the little ducklings in the eggs, but I'm feeling the Made In China egg incubator has done this for me now.
The ducklings are now going into the barn on their own now, I actually don't even have to herd them in, around 9 pm they start going in on their own now.
By the end of the day the final results of the Muscovy egg hatch was only 2 Muscovy Ducklings made it out on hatch day, this is much worse than last weeks hatch.
This made in China egg incubator is one of the worst decisions I've made in a long time, it's destroying the Duck Adventure and really making me mad.

Last night I turned out the light in the barn to see if that helped in reducing the water consumption in the barn, well it did help a touch instead of running out of water around 5 am, at 6 am there was still about ½ litre left in the hanging water pail. Today I separated Ms. Gimp from the flock and put her in the pen by herself, she spent over 40 minutes in the kiddie pool cleaning her self, and she was pretty dirty. I'm hoping the egg killing incubator from china hasn't killed all the ducklings last night with the fan dying again, I'm loading the eggs into the hatcher as fast as possible this morning and misting them right away to cool them down some. I hope it's not too late to save them, I didn't want to through 248 eggs into the garburator and kill the little ducklings in the eggs, but I'm feeling the Made In China egg incubator has done this for me now. The ducklings are now going into the barn on their own now, I actually don't even have to herd them in, around 9 pm they start going in on their own now. By the end of the day the final results of the Muscovy egg hatch was only 2 Muscovy Ducklings made it out on hatch day, this is much worse than last weeks hatch. Really bad news today, the made in China egg incubator made by http://china-incubators.com Dezhou Runde Metal Products Company Ltd died today after only 6 days of use. I had to go to town to grab some things and noticed when I came through the door that there was no fan noise coming from the incubator room. I opened the duck egg incubator door and the main fan blade on the back of the system was almost stopped rotating, the fan motor had just died. Needless to say I had to start to scramble to fix this situation or I was going to lose my duck & goose eggs, without this fan running I would get hot spots in the incubator and could end up cooking the eggs. Really bad news today, the made in China egg incubator made by http://china-incubators.com Dezhou Runde Metal Products Company Ltd died today after only 6 days of use.
I had to go to town to grab some things and noticed when I came through the door that there was no fan noise coming from the incubator room.
I opened the duck egg incubator door and the main fan blade on the back of the system was almost stopped rotating, the fan motor had just died.
Needless to say I had to start to scramble to fix this situation or I was going to lose my duck & goose eggs, without this fan running I would get hot spots in the incubator and could end up cooking the eggs.
Even with the spare parts I had bought just for this reason wasn't going to help me once I started to investigate how I was going to fix this problem, it was time for me to MacGyver something to keep the duck egg hatching adventure going.

Today it's the Pekin's turn to free range and they didn't waste anytime coming out even with Dug in the way at the gate.
Mr. Gimp the Rouen drake is having a much better time living with the Pekin ducks, they aren't picking on him at all.
Last night I butchered a Muscovy duck and Dug couldn't wait to have it today for breakfast, which is funny because the first one I gave him he left it on the lawn and it took him 2 days to eat it, now he doesn't hesitate.
Dug really doesn't like the ducks mating, when he hears a female duck in distress he gets upset and goes towards them and the drakes brake off the mating, it sort of confuses Dug because it's one duck doing it to another.
Today the chickens were pretending to be ducks again and were rolling around in the mud.

Today I made the decision to take a chance to repair the incubator and take it apart and replace the broken fan, I figured since there is a really good chance the eggs that are in the incubator are a lost cause I figured I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I got everything ready for the changing of the main fan in the incubator, now this replacement fan I'm putting in is not a warranty replacement; it's the extra fan I purchased from the Chinese manufacturer Dezhou Runde Metal Products Company in China. The manufacturer still will not honour the warranty of the unit, won't send me replacement parts for the ones that have stopped working, and wouldn't respond to emails for over 3 weeks.
They are now lying to me on Skype saying they are sending parts to me and then 4 days later tell me to do some more tests, this company is on to be avoided at all costs absolute scum Chinese manufacturer the worst kind.

Changing the fan was quite the job, one nothing matches even the spare fan which is the same as the one I'm taking out the mounting holes didn't match up, I had to drill it out to make it work. Also the jimmy rigged spacers they made to hold the fan in the receiver I've done better manufacturing in my garage.
Took 67 minutes to change the fan and less than 4 minutes later the new fan was making a grinding sound, so I'm counting on it to stop working any day also.
The gosling I helped out of it's shell yesterday is still really week and might not make it, it's been over 16 hours of shaking and normally when they shake this much means they are on their way out not into this world.
Once I was done the repair I checked on the rescue gosling and noticed it could not get off it's back at all, what was happening was it had egg shell stuck to the back of it's leg and that was causing it not to have use of the that leg and couldn't flip it self over to stand up.
I made it up a warm bath of 105°F water to soak it and get the egg of the poor little thing, once I got the egg shell of it's back the little guy could stand up on it's own, dried it off and put it back into the hatcher for tonight and we'll see what it's like in the morning.
Another curve ball today is the cool air after the storm is causing the relative humidity to fall to less than 30% and the hatcher can't keep the humidity above 50%, even with 6 trays of water and the home made humidity generator going non stop the humidity won't increase.
I'm going into town today to return the small fan that didn't work in the hatcher the first time and I'm going to find a steam humidifier that is under 1,000 watts of power consumption that I can put into the hatcher because my homemade ones are doing the job.
Picked up a perfect little humidifier unit and got back home and installed it in the hatcher within 10 minutes the humidity was above 55% and climbing. It looks like I've solved the problem concerning the lack of humidity now in the hatcher, should have bought one of these right from the start, live and learn...

I've since talked to the factory on Skype and there is no warranty on the spare fan motor I bought from the factory when I bought the original incubator, and you are going to love this one the customer service person Sally told me to contact my original sales person Melinda for a replacement fan motor, but Melinda doesn't work for the company anymore she has gone back to school.
This company Dezhou Runde Metal Company from China are a very untrustworthy company and should be avoided at all costs, crooks is all I can say about them.

6 am and still only 1 Muscovy duckling has hatched so far which isn't a good sign since today is hatch day, I've got a real bad feeling this Muscovy hatch is dead also the incubator from hell killed them all again.
The ducklings did a pretty good morning rush today coming out of the barn, it was almost none stop duckling train.
Last night I turned out the light in the barn to see if that helped in reducing the water consumption in the barn, well it did help a touch instead of running out of water around 5 am, at 6 am there was still about ½ litre left in the hanging water pail.
Today I separated Ms. Gimp from the flock and put her in the pen by herself, she spent over 40 minutes in the kiddie pool cleaning her self, and she was pretty dirty.
I'm hoping the egg killing incubator from china hasn't killed all the ducklings last night with the fan dying again, I'm loading the eggs into the hatcher as fast as possible this morning and misting them right away to cool them down some. I hope it's not too late to save them, I didn't want to through 248 eggs into the garburator and kill the little ducklings in the eggs, but I'm feeling the Made In China egg incubator has done this for me now.
The ducklings are now going into the barn on their own now, I actually don't even have to herd them in, around 9 pm they start going in on their own now.
By the end of the day the final results of the Muscovy egg hatch was only 2 Muscovy Ducklings made it out on hatch day, this is much worse than last weeks hatch.
This made in China egg incubator is one of the worst decisions I've made in a long time, it's destroying the Duck Adventure and really making me mad.

Nanjing-Shanghai high speed train, China
Trying out new train in China. You can see inside and outside of the train. Rail line was opened in year 2010 and top operational speed is 350 kph. When I first saw this train, I thought that it looks like a copy of Japanese shikanensen. Inside some seats were already broken. There is also some noticeable vibration, when train is cruising at top speeds. Rail line, which is 300km long, serves highly populated Yantzee river delta area, between stations Shanghai and Nanjing in Jiangsu province. Major stops are Shanghai (13m inhabitants), Suzhou (6m), Wuxi (4.5m), Changzhou (4.5m) and Nanjing (7m). Train stations have automated ticket selling machines, inside train can by obento and cup noodles. If you are in Shanghai, travel to Nanjing and enjoy. -

Train stations have automated ticket selling machines, inside train can by obento and cup noodles. If you are in Shanghai, travel to Nanjing and enjoy.
