Every Labour Day long weekend, Moomba brings Melburnians together to share in the vibrancy and spirit of our much loved city. A celebrated part of the Melbourne events calendar for 60 years, Moomba will be back with an exciting program of events and family entertainment, making Melbourne the ideal place to be for the Labour Day long weekend. Held over four days, the festival attracts more than one million visitors to the sun-soaked banks of the Yarra to share in the vibrancy and spirit of our much loved city. Love Melbourne, Love Moomba! Moomba 2016 11 - 14 March 2016 Moomba Weekend Main Arena 11am - 11pm Moomba’s Main Arena is where the carnival takes place. Rides, games, challenges, food and fireworks located in Birrarung Marr, along the banks of the Yarra stretching round to Alexandria Gardens. Moomba’s Main Arena will play host to headline acts including iconic Melbourne bands Alpine, British India and Tim Rogers & The Bamboos, plus an array of incredible Australian music talent. Skate Park Discover the best in scoot, skate and BMX Competitions Learn 2 Ride – Clinics River Look on at world-class water sports Women's Slalom Women's Jump Wakeboard Men's Jump Women's Tricks Men's Tricks Men's Slalom Kids Zone Play games and explore fun activities Kids Cooking Classes Design A Float Face Painting Karaoke 4 Kids Play Space Premier's Active Challenge Workshops Ashton Circus The Green Enjoy workshops in a lush green sanctuary Mini Games Afro-Brazilian Music Performance and Workshops West African Drumming Workshops Japanese Drumming Performance Birdman Rally Noon, Sunday, 13th March 2016 Yarra River, Birrarung Marr Festival favourite the Birdman Rally will be back for 2016, with competitors plunging into the Yarra River for charity from 12:00pm on Sunday 13 March. The antics are back with the hilarious Birdman Rally, where contestants aim to fly across the river by leaping off a four-metre platform with wings attached to their costumes.. all for a good cause. Parade Monday 14 March 2016 at 11:00am A Melbourne staple, take your place on the sidelines as the vitality and energy of Moomba is brought to life through the spectacular Moomba Parade. Starting near the Shrine of Remembrance and finishing near Linlithgow Avenue, the lively procession brings a flurry of colour and movement to Melbourne's St Kilda Road. Community designed floats are sure to dazzle in the spotlight this year and will be accompanied by droves of talented performance troupes, professional and amateur dance groups, as well as school participants. It's big, colourful and fun. And it's all free.
