Heide Museum of Modern Art is one of Australia’s leading public art museums. Celebrated for its award-winning architecture and breathtaking gardens, Heide has a rich and colourful social history and art heritage. About Heide Heide Museum of Modern Art, or Heide as it is affectionately known, began life in 1935 as the home of John and Sunday Reed, and has since evolved into one of Australia's most important cultural institutions. John and Sunday were two of Australia's most important art benefactors and through their support of artists such as Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker, Joy Hester and Arthur Boyd, Heide became the birthplace of modernism in Australia. Set within 15 acres of stunning parkland there are three separate gallery spaces, a sculpture park and heritage listed kitchen gardens to explore. Also on site is Café Vue at Heide which offers delicious coffee, afternoon tea and a Menu du Jour inspired by Sunday's kitchen garden. For its tens of thousands of visitors every year, Heide offers an inspiring, educational and thought-provoking experience of modern and contemporary art, architecture and landscape.
