Georgina "George" Kingsley (born 15 March 1993), most commonly known by her stage name Georgi Kay, is an Australian Indie Pop musician, based in Perth, Western Australia. In 2010 she was the winner of The WAM Song of the Year Award for her original love song 'Breakfast in Bedlam'. Beginning her music career as the lead guitarist for high-school rock band, The Vains, in 2007, Kingsley took over the roles of lead vocalist and songwriter in the band's second year of performing. In 2009 she left The Vains to embark on a solo career under the name Georgi Kay, releasing the EP 'Strange Things' in March 2010 and the single 'Lionheart' in November of the same year. Her debut 11 Track compilation CD is currently available through independent Distribution.
In her short career, Kingsley has already received an impressive array of awards and nominations. In 2009, her second year of competing, Kingsley was awarded the Most Outstanding Performer Award in the My Big Gig competition. Kingsley then won the 2010 MySpace/Sony/fbiradio National Songwriting competition with the song 'You & Me', she is the youngest ever winner of the WAM Song of the Year Award, winning in 2010 with 'Breakfast in Bedlam'. After winning her category in 2010 and being nominated as a category finalist in 2009, she was one of five nominees worldwide in her category in 2011. She has recently been nominated for an Independent Music Award for the song 'Back to Back'.
