Cloud Control are an alternative rock band originating from the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia. The band is currently signed to the Australian label Ivy League Records, in which they released their debut album Bliss Release, to Infectious Music in the UK/Europe and to Turnout Records in North America. The band has supported a host of local and international acts, including Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Supergrass, The Magic Numbers, Yves Klein Blue, The Temper Trap, Last Dinosaurs and Local Natives.
They have been nominated for a clutch of awards in Australia, including 2 ARIA awards. Most recently, the band was nominated for the Australian Music Prize, which they subsequently won on 3 March 2011.
All growing up in the Blue Mountains, the four met at the rehearsals for Pirates of the Penzance, where a series of random events led them to the green room. There they started talking to each other and it was from there that they decided to enter their first "Battle of the Bands". The band subsequently won, and continued on to record and release their debut self-titled EP in 2008. The single from Cloud Control, "Death Cloud," was picked up by Australian youth radio station Triple J and received strong airplay. The band were also selected to open for Supergrass on their tour of Australia.
