The catastrophic flooding in Chennai is the result of the heaviest rain in several decades, which forced authorities to release a massive 30,000 cusecs from the Chembarambakkam reservoir into the Adyar river over two days, causing it to flood its banks and submerge neighbourhoods on both sides. It did not help that the Adyar’s stream is not very deep or wide, and its banks have been heavily encroached upon over the years.
Similar flooding triggers were in action at Poondi and Puzhal reservoirs, and the Cooum river that winds its way through the city.
While Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said, during the earlier phase of heavy rain last month, that damage during the monsoon was “inevitable”, the fact remains that the mindless development of Chennai over the last two decades — the filling up of lowlands and choking of stormwater drains and other exits for water — has played a major part in the escalation of the crisis.

The movie story deals with Balakrishnan the owner of a barber shop in a remote village. His family consists of his wife Sridevi and three children. Balakrishnan struggles to persuade customers to visit his barber shop while his competitor Shanmugham, former worker of Balakrishnan who has his own barber shop across from Balakrishnan's, uses cunning means to make business in haircutting. Balakrishnan's downfall in business causes him to neglect paying his children's school fees. Although he struggles to make a living, he still enjoys spending time with his family. News spreads through the village by Nagaraj that superstar Ashok Kumar, a popular film actor, will be arriving for a shooting schedule. While the rest of the village celebrates in shock and excitement, the news does not impress Balakrishnan, who was best friends with the actor during their childhood days. The two have not met one another for nearly 25 years. Balakrishnan is often bothered by Sridevi, and his children to introduce them to Ashok Kumar. Kuppuswamy, a financier who is keen on making a film and who was once disgusted by Balakrishnan's barber shop, tries to woo him into introducing him to Ashok Kumar so that he can make a film with him. Meanwhile, Sridevi spends her time bragging to her neighbours about her husband being friends with the super star.

Chennai /ˈtʃɛnaɪ/, formerly Madras /məˈdræs/, is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located on the Coromandel Coast off the Bay of Bengal, it is a major commercial, cultural, and educational centre in South India, while the port of Chennai is the second largest port in India. As of the 2011 census, the city had 4.68 million residents making it the sixth most populous city in India; the urban agglomeration, which comprises the city and its suburbs, was home to approximately 8.9 million, making it the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the country.
Although the area has been part of successive South Indian kingdoms through centuries, the recorded history of the city began in the colonial times, specifically with the arrival of British East India Company and the establishment in 1644 of Fort St George, an English settlement. The British defended several attacks from the French colonial forces, and from the kingdom of Mysore, on Chennai's way to become a major naval port and presidency city by late eighteenth century. Following the independence of India, Chennai became the capital of Tamil Nadu and a hotbed of regional politics that tended to bank on Dravidian identity of the populace. Chennai had become a bustling metropolis with beautiful classical and colonial European styled buildings, lining the city’s thoroughfares.

Chennai 600028 is a 2007 Tamil sports comedy film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, making his directorial debut. The film stars Jai, Shiva, Premji Amaran, Aravind Akash, Nithin Sathya and newcomers Ajay Raj, Ranjith, Vijay Vasanth, Prasanna, Inigo, Karthik and Arun in the lead along with Vijayalakshmi, daughter of National Film Award-winning director Agathiyan, and Kristine Zedek, making their acting debut as well. The story revolves around two local cricket league teams that compete against each other in local matches and consider each other as sworn enemies. Royapuram Rockers are on top of the chain and keep bashing Sharks year after year. The heroes of the movie are the Sharks team. The story begins when Raghu's parents move from Royapuram to Visalakshi Thottam, Chennai 600 028. Raghu, (member of the Royapuram Rockers Cricket team) and a college student living with his parents has no choice but to move with them although he detests the area. He is not very excited at the prospect of living in the same area as his sworn enemies. Raghu is faithful to his old team Rockers but his team mates ignore him because of the distance. Angered at being replaced by a new guy in the team in one of the matches, Raghu estranges himself from cricket and Rockers. Raghu informs of Pazhani's sister Selvi's love for Karthick to him. This incident initiates the Raghu's friendship with a few Sharks team players and eventually gets induced into the team. Raghu practices with Sharks to play against Rockers in the upcoming Radio Mirchi trophy. Pazhani, who soon comes to know of his sister's and Karthick's love affair is disappointed and then there is a tiff amongst the friends. The team splits up for a while. But Karthick apologises to Pazhani and they make up. The team is united again and they start practicing for the trophy once again. The catastrophic flooding in Chennai is the result of the heaviest rain in several decades, which forced authorities to release a massive 30,000 cusecs from the Chembarambakkam reservoir into the Adyar river over two days, causing it to flood its banks and submerge neighbourhoods on both sides. It did not help that the Adyar’s stream is not very deep or wide, and its banks have been heavily encroached upon over the years. I got a chance to drive in Chennai City located in Tamil Nadu, India. It was a great experience to see a lot of traffic and a multicultural population. Chennai, formerly known as Madras is one of the largest metropolitan cities in India. It is ranked as one of the 50 most populated cities in the world (yes, the world). It is the capital of the South Indian state Tamil Nadu, and most people speak Tamil and English here. I drove a lot around Saidapet, K.K Nagar, Anna Salai, Adyar and T.Nagar. Balakrishnan's downfall in business causes him to neglect paying his children's school fees. Although he struggles to make a living, he still enjoys spending time with his family. News spreads through the village by Nagaraj that superstar Ashok Kumar, a popular film actor, will be arriving for a shooting schedule. While the rest of the village celebrates in shock and excitement, the news does not impress Balakrishnan, who was best friends with the actor during their childhood days. The two have not met one another for nearly 25 years. Balakrishnan is often bothered by Sridevi, and his children to introduce them to Ashok Kumar. Kuppuswamy, a financier who is keen on making a film and who was once disgusted by Balakrishnan's barber shop, tries to woo him into introducing him to Ashok Kumar so that he can make a film with him. Meanwhile, Sridevi spends her time bragging to her neighbours about her husband being friends with the super star.

Chennai 600028 is a 2007 Tamil sports comedy film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, making his directorial debut. The film stars Jai, Shiva, Premji Amaran, Aravind Akash, Nithin Sathya and newcomers Ajay Raj, Ranjith, Vijay Vasanth, Prasanna, Inigo, Karthik and Arun in the lead along with Vijayalakshmi, daughter of National Film Award-winning director Agathiyan, and Kristine Zedek, making their acting debut as well.
The story revolves around two local cricket league teams that compete against each other in local matches and consider each other as sworn enemies. Royapuram Rockers are on top of the chain and keep bashing Sharks year after year. The heroes of the movie are the Sharks team.
The story begins when Raghu's parents move from Royapuram to Visalakshi Thottam, Chennai 600 028. Raghu, (member of the Royapuram Rockers Cricket team) and a college student living with his parents has no choice but to move with them although he detests the area. He is not very excited at the prospect of living in the same area as his sworn enemies. Raghu is faithful to his old team Rockers but his team mates ignore him because of the distance. Angered at being replaced by a new guy in the team in one of the matches, Raghu estranges himself from cricket and Rockers.
Raghu informs of Pazhani's sister Selvi's love for Karthick to him. This incident initiates the Raghu's friendship with a few Sharks team players and eventually gets induced into the team. Raghu practices with Sharks to play against Rockers in the upcoming Radio Mirchi trophy. Pazhani, who soon comes to know of his sister's and Karthick's love affair is disappointed and then there is a tiff amongst the friends. The team splits up for a while. But Karthick apologises to Pazhani and they make up. The team is united again and they start practicing for the trophy once again. Unfortunately, Karthick gets stabbed by his brother's enemies and is rendered unfit to play the match. Pazhani replaces Karthick as the captain and the team heads for the match.

I got a chance to drive in Chennai City located in Tamil Nadu, India. It was a great experience to see a lot of traffic and a multicultural population. Chennai, formerly known as Madras is one of the largest metropolitan cities in India. It is ranked as one of the 50 most populated cities in the world (yes, the world). It is the capital of the South Indian state Tamil Nadu, and most people speak Tamil and English here.
I drove a lot around Saidapet, K.K Nagar, Anna Salai, Adyar and T.Nagar. These are the prime areas of Chennai city. However, most of my footage is useless because of my bad videography and bumpy roads. I hope you will find it interesting to watch this video of driving in Chennai.

The Chennai Metro Rail is a rapid transit system in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Phase I of the project consists of two corridors covering a length of 45.1 kilometres (28.0 mi). The first line of Phase 1 has been partially completed and is open for public service. About 55% of the corridors in Phase I are underground, with the remaining corridors elevated.
Upon full completion, Chennai Metro Rail will be the first metro project in the country that will integrate other public transportation systems. The project is expected to reduce the commuting time by 75% from one end of the city to another. The state and central governments are also working together for the CMRL to takeover the Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) so that the latter would get a makeover with modernised stations, integrated ticketing systems, better facilities for passengers, increased frequency of services taking into consideration passenger demands, and also lead to better maintenance.
The first stretch of Chennai Metro Rail, covering the seven stations from Koyambedu to Alandur over a distance of 10 kilometres (6.2 mi),[2] began operation on 29 June 2015. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalitha flagged off Metro service while Preethi, one of the women drivers of Chennai Metro, drove the train out of Alandhur station. Chennai became seventh Indian city with metro rapid transit system in India, after Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Gurgaon and Jaipur.

Kalakshetra Academy, the world famous dance school started in 1936 by Rukmini Devi Arundale and her husband George Arundale and their associates at the Theosophical Society which was deeply committed to Theosophy and an arts academy was an extension to this commitment. This academy is also present in this locality.
