Reclaim Australia rallies will march across every major city on April 4.

Rallies will be held across Australia on April 4 to protest 'halal tax, sharia law and Islamisation'.

Scott Moerland is the spokesperson of the Reclaim Australia rally to be held in Brisbane.

Speaking with Patrick Condren on 4BC Mornings, Mr Moerland said the rallies represent a 'silent majority of Australians' who are willing stand up against Islam.

"The Reclaim Australia rallies are basically a grassroots movement to protest against political correctness especially in regards to, calling a spade a spade, with the evil teachings of Islam."

Mr Moerland said that Reclaim Australia is not made up of 'bigots' or 'racists' but ordinary Australians who do not want to be 'smeared' by media reports.

"Lots of people in the media, newspaper journalists, celebrities, they smear anybody who shows any backbone in order to speak out against this religion and this has gotta stop."

"You can't ban Islam, we're not stupid and we're practical people ok, but what we do want to do is eventually have Islam looked upon as the fascist ideology that it is."

Reclaim Australia 'don't represent the majority of silent Australians'

Associate Professor Mohamed Abdalla is a specialist in Islamic science at Griffith University.

In an interview with Patrick Condren on 4BC Mornings, Associate Professor Abdalla rejected claims by Reclaim Australia spokesperson Scott Moerland, that the rallies represent the 'silent majority' of Australians.

"My experience and the experience of many of my community is that the majority of Australian people are willing to give, give us and Muslims and others a fair go and they're quite decent people."

Associate Professor Abdalla said that a 'small element and small percentage' of young Muslims that have embraced an extremist ideology do not accurately represent the Australian Islamic community.

"It is unbecoming and it is rather false to try to paint an entire community that is not monolithic - a Muslim community that is of diverse ethnic backgrounds, languages, experiences - with the same paintbrush."

"It's only the last 10 years that the ugly face of extremism raised its head and therefore if Islam is the problem and Muslims are extremists, extremists and fascists as they [Reclaim Australia] claim then how did they manage to live in this country for so many years now without any of this problems?"
