Artemis Pet Food Company, Inc. is a manufacturer and supplier of holistic pet foods. Established in 1998, and based in Carson, California on the premise that an animal's health starts with its diet.

Artemis Pet Food Company was established in the year of 1998 in North Hollywood, California. This dog food has been on 'The Whole Dog Journal's' recommended and approved dry dog food list for several years. The pet food includes the benefits of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, vegetables, fruits, herbs, digestive enzymes, and minerals to sustain the pet's nutrition. The main goal of the pet food is to prevent and possibly assist in curing diseases as a natural nutritious healing process. No Artemis product has ever been a part of a pet food recall.

History

Artemis was founded in 1997. In 2002 a majority stake was acquired by ABN AMRO; that stake subsequently passed to Fortis. Following a management buyout in 2010, Artemis is owned by Affiliated Managers Group (AMG) and the Artemis partners. This is a financial partnership: AMG does not get involved in the day-to-day running of the business.

Artemis is a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) and currently has 28 partners, comprising fund managers and other key individuals at the firm. The four founders, Mark Tyndall, John Dodd, Derek Stuart and Lindsay Whitelaw, have always recognised that one of the key determinants in long-term success is the stability of the investment team.

XCOR Lynx

The XCOR Lynx is a suborbital horizontal-takeoff, horizontal-landing (HTHL), rocket-powered spaceplane under development by the California-based company XCOR Aerospace to compete in the emerging suborbital spaceflight market. The Lynx is projected to carry one pilot, a ticketed passenger, and/or a payload above 100 km altitude. As of July 2015, the passenger ticket was projected to cost $150,000.

The concept has been under development since 2003, when a two-person suborbital spaceplane was announced under the name Xerus. According to a September 2015 report, the first flight of the Lynx spaceplane is likely to be in the second quarter of 2016 from Midland, Texas.

Xerus

In 2003, XCOR proposed the Xerus (pronunciation: zEr'us) suborbital spaceplane concept. It was to be capable of transporting one pilot and one passenger as well as some science experiments and it would even be capable of carrying an upper stage which would launch near apogee and therefore would potentially be able to carry satellites into low-Earth orbit. As late as 2007, XCOR continued to refer to their future two-person spaceplane concept as Xerus,

Axe (brand)

Axe (also known as Lynx in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and People's Republic of China) is a brand of male grooming products, owned by the British–Dutch company Unilever and marketed towards the young male demographic.

History

Axe was launched in France in 1983 by Unilever. It was inspired by another of Unilever's brands, Impulse. Unilever introduced other products in the range but were unable to use the name Axe in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand due to trademark problems so it was launched as Lynx.

The European launch of the deodorant was followed by success in Latin America and moderate impact in Asia and Africa. In the new millennium, the brand has launched with great success in the United States and Canada. The company has also consolidated its deodorant portfolio by migrating other overlapping male deodorants into the Lynx brand such as South Africa's Ego brand.

In January 2012, Unilever launched its first Axe/Lynx product for women in the United Kingdom as part of a global expansion of the previously men’s-only brand. The Line of products is named "Axe/Lynx Anarchy" (named "Attract" in the UK).

Lynx (web browser)

Lynx is a highly configurable text-based web browser for use on cursor-addressable character cell terminals.As of 2015, it is the oldest web browser currently in general use and development, having started in 1992.

History

Lynx was a product of the Distributed Computing Group within Academic Computing Services of the University of Kansas, and was initially developed in 1992 by a team of students at the university (Lou Montulli, Michael Grobe and Charles Rezac) as a hypertext browser used solely to distribute campus information as part of a Campus-Wide Information Server and for browsing the Gopher space. Beta availability was announced to Usenet on 22 July 1992. In 1993, Montulli added an Internet interface and released a new version (2.0) of the browser.

As of July 2007 the support of communication protocols in Lynx is implemented using a version of libwww,forked from the library's code base in 1996. The supported protocols include Gopher, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, NNTP and WAIS. Support for NNTP was added to libwww from ongoing Lynx development in 1994. Support for HTTPS was added to Lynx's fork of libwww later, initially as patches due to concerns about encryption.
