Plot: Dutch rock singer, junkie and sex addict Herman Brood probably never outgrew his petty native Groningen bars scene, hadn't publican Koos van Dijk neglected his pub and wife to become Brood's devoted manager, even supplying drugs. They form a band, Brood and his Wild Romance, mainly more junk punks, but gradually build a reputation and after replacing the loser musicians launch a record, largely financed by Koos's conservative pa. Now Brood decides to aim for the top, New York's most exclusive club. Nearly Herman is lost to a stable relationship, but an OD saves his career. Koos gets them engaged by a US studio for a tour, but the Yanks plan to take over and Herman surprises everyone.

Plot: Dennis van der Horst is a kind-hearted young entrepreneur. He lives by the rules of the street. The only people he feels any responsibility for are his brother Marco and his family, who are not very well off. When Dennis gets the chance to obtain an extremely expensive but lucrative taxi-license, he seizes it. In the presence of the manager of MOTAX, the only taxi company in Amsterdam, Dennis borrows a very large sum of money. Dennis is beside himself with joy. The hustling is over. Soon however Dennis finds out that there was a reason why it was so easy for him to obtain such a scarce license. The law is being altered, allowing competition on the taxi market. The licenses of Dennis and many of his colleagues all at once become worthless. As of that moment there is a war going on in the streets of Amsterdam. Dennis gets deeper into trouble when he finds out that he has unwittingly become part of the criminal organization behind MOTAX. Even the police turn out to have secret ties with MOTAX and there is only one thing left for Dennis to do in order to free himself: confront the man who is pulling the strings

Plot: Bonnie, a nine-year-old single child, is part of a family of three living in the Netherlands. They have a love of elephants, passed on by Bonnie's grandfather's grandfather who worked on a game reserve in Africa, and Bonnie feels that she instinctively does things like an elephant as a result. Her single mother, Lis, is bi-polar and at times spends days on end without even getting out of bed. Then there are other times when she will manically do wild acts, such as impromptu dancing in public. As a result, Bonnie's sturdy and stable grandmother must hold the family together by doing all the cooking, etc. After her grandmother is killed by a car, Bonnie becomes the most responsible family member and struggles with preparing meals and getting her reluctant mother to take her medication. She also must dodge Jorien, a social worker who is attempting to place her in a foster home. When her friend from school, Koos, gets a new brother Bonnie decides that this is the solution to fight the loneliness caused by her grandmother's absence, and pleads with her mother to provide her with a brother. She starts a search for eligible men to accomplish this mission. Ultimately, the arrival of an elephant in their garden leads to a change in the makeup of the family.

Plot: During World War II in the Netherlands, resistance-leader Arie is shot by the Dutch SS-man Niels.
