Andre Louis Hicks (July 5, 1970 – November 1, 2004), better known by his stage name Mac Dre, was an American rapper, and the initial founder of Thizz Entertainment, and the now defunct Romp Productions.
Andre Hicks was born in Oakland, California and moved to Vallejo at a young age. In the early 1980s, Hicks began his rap career under the stage name "Mac Dre", and by the middle of the 1990s his music had gained widespread popularity throughout the Bay Area thanks in part to the independent music distributor: . He started robing pizza parlors in vallejo California at the age of 25
Mac Dre recorded his first three albums between 1989 and 1991. In 1992 Mac Dre was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. At the time Hicks owned the record label, Romp Productions. His many references to "Romper Room" in his songs, bore a similarity the "Romper Room Gang", a group of robbers who had been victimizing banks and pizza parlors in Vallejo.[citation needed] Following allegations by authorities about his membership in the gang, Hicks was sentenced to five years in prison. He refused a deal offered by law enforcement authorities that would have required him to inform on other gang members.

Aaron Dontez Yates (born November 8, 1971), better known by his stage name Tech N9ne (pronounced "Tech Nine"), is an American rapper from Kansas City, Missouri. In 1999, Yates and Travis O'Guin founded the record label Strange Music. Throughout his career, Yates has sold over one million albums and has had his music featured in film, television, and video games. In 2009, he won the Left Field Woodie award at the mtvU Woodie Awards.
His stage name originated from the TEC-9 semi-automatic handgun, given to him by rapper Black Walt due to his fast rhyming style. Yates later applied a deeper meaning to the name, claiming that it stands for the complete technique of rhyme, with 'tech' meaning technique and 'nine' representing the number of completion.
Aaron Dontez Yates was born on November 8, 1971 in Kansas City, Missouri. He began rapping at a very early age, and would rap the letters of his name in order to remember how to spell it. He never met his father, and his mother suffered from epilepsy and lupus when he was a child, which emotionally affected him and inspired him to "search for God." He would wander around abandoned buildings with his best friend, Brian Dennis, hoping to catch a ghost on film. In 2003, Dennis was shot and killed by his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, which further inspired Yates' search for a higher power, as well as giving him the drive to vent his frustrations in his music.

His lyrics were largely based on his neighborhood known by those around him as "The Crest", short for Country Club Crest. His music gained popularity in the early to mid 1990s throughout the Bay Area, eventually receiving national recognition through his independent record labels Romp and Thizz Entertainment. During his music career, he released many hit singles, such as "Too Hard for the Fuckin' Radio", and more recently "Feelin' Myself". His music continues to be released posthumously. He was the creator of the "Thizzle Dance", a popular dance which holds no specific standard. Hardship and controversy were staples of Mac Dre's career. After recording his first three albums between 1989 and 1991, Mac Dre was charged with conspiracy to commit bank robbery. His record label, Romp Productions, and his many references to "Romper Room" in his songs, coincided with a Vallejo robbery gang of the time calling themselves the "Romper Room Gang" and responsible for the robberies of many area banks and pizza parlors.

His 1993 single "Get Ma Money On!" off the Who Can Be Trusted? EP was very popular and earned lots of local radio play in the San Francisco Bay Area on radio station 106.1 KMEL. One of the producers of that album was the Vallejo native Khayree who started the record label "Young Black Brotha."

Tech explains that Wiz is not talking about anyone is particular when he talks about a rapper with contact lenses and that people are jumping to the wrong conclusions. Tech goes on to say that he wanted to sign Hopsin to Strange Music but that he is not upset that Hopsin decided to do his own thing instead. Tech also states that he is currently working on a track with Hopsin and with Dizzy Wright. As the interview continues Tech shares a story of how Mac Dre came to a strip club Tech was running in Kansas City and expressed that he wanted to work with Tech. Later when Tech found out Mac Dre (RIP) had been shot he couldn't believe it and called up Yukmouth to confirm. Tech was not only sadden by the news but was even more distraught to hear that Mac Dre had kids he left behind. Because Mac Dre was shot in Kansas City people associated it with Tech and turned a couple of Tech's promo vans over in the Bay Area. After a year not going to the Bay to do shows Tech decided that he had too many people in the Bay and started doing shows again. Tech says that fans still show love for Mac Dre all over the world when he plays a tribute to him during his shows.
