Ceremonial dance is a major category or classification of dance forms or dance styles, where the purpose is ceremonial or ritualistic.
This compares to other major dance categories based on purpose:
El amor brujo (Love, the Magician, literally, Spell-bound Love or The Bewitched Love, sometimes translated as Wedded by Witchcraft) is a ballet composed in 1914-1915 by Manuel de Falla to a libretto by Gregorio Martínez Sierra. In 1916, Falla arranged a rendition of the work for sextet and small orchestra and the following year he made a concert version, also for small orchestra. Later, he fashioned a piano suite from it and finally, a second ballet version (1925) that features expanded orchestration, elimination of the narration, small cuts and plot changes, and a different order to the numbers.
The work is distinctively Andalusian in character with the songs in the Andalusian Spanish dialect of the Gypsies. The music contains moments of remarkable beauty and originality; it includes the celebrated "Danza ritual del fuego" (Ritual Fire Dance), "Canción del fuego fatuo" (Song of Wildfire, or Song Of The Will-o'-the-Wisp) and the "Danza del terror" (Dance of Terror).

Maibi Dance is performed during the celebration of festival Lai-Haraoba which is an annual ritual festival of the Meitei Manipuris living in the valley of Manipur. The Maibis are the priestesses considered as spiritual mediums as per the local people. They dance and worship the forest gods, called the Umang Lai. This feeling can be traced through their dances & the whole concept of cosmogony of the Meitei people and their way of life get described. At the beginning of dance, description about the process of creation is given. Through which they show the construction of houses & temples and various occupations of the people adopted to sustain them with time. In short, it is a kind of re-living of the way of life lived the past. The Maibi people perform such items on ceremonies for God or o...
What they are doing is a very typical Sufi Muslim thing called 'dhikr' which means remembrance or recitation. They use Quranic verses, poems or Islamic chants to remember and praise God and sending blessings to the Prophet. It is practised all over the Muslim world and extremely hypnotic. For a few moments you forget all pain and suffering in your life.
Dancer: Cristina Hoyos The Danza ritual del fuego (Ritual Fire Dance) is a movement of the ballet El amor brujo[1] (Love the magician), written in 1915. The work was influenced by Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee due to its fast, repetitive trills and ornaments. The piece was also influenced by the traditional, religious ceremony of a fire dance. This is a dance which was used to worship the fire-god, and in which people would often jump through or leap around the fire. In De Falla's ballet, El amor brujo, a young Andalusian gypsy girl called Candela is haunted by the ghost of her dead husband. To get rid of him, all the gypsies make a large circle around their campfire at midnight. Candela then performs the Ritual Fire Dance. This causes the ghost to appear, with whom she then...
