Auf dieser Seite wollen wir Fans des legendären Hamburger Clubs die Möglichkeit geben, sich auszutauschen u. über Ihre Erlebnisse im Hamburger Starclub zu berichten. Der am 13. April 1963 in Hamburg gegründete Club (Geschlossen wurder der Club am 31. Dezember 1969) an der Grossen Freiheit hatte damals schon Stars & Sternchen in Hülle und Fülle zu Gast. Dies vor allem hauptsächlich in den 60er, 70er und 80er Jahren. Der im Jahr 1980 verstorbene Manfred Weissleder war es (nicht wie zunächst der in den Medien oft genannte Horst Fascher) vermutet , der den Club im Hamburger Rotlicht u. Spaßviertel St. Pauli gründete u. nun zu einem der bekanntesten Live- und Nachtclubs Deutschlands machte! Zahlreiche Rock N Roll Bands (aber auch Dixie-Bands oder Jazz-Bands) aus aller Welt rockten und feierten im Starclub was das Zeug hielt! Mit dabei auch namhafte Bands wie die Beatles oder auch Tony Sheridan. Alles in allem ein Club der Superlativen! Es war sicher nicht einfach damals einen derartigen Club zu gründen, den die Rockmusik war noch relativ unbekannt in Deutschland und war deshalb noch nicht voll anerkannt. Das war auch zunächst das Problem des Clubs: Viele Leute mieden den Club, weil es hieß, es würden sich nur düstere Rock-Gestalten dort tummeln und es wäre nichts für die "Upper-Class". Dieses Klischee war aber falsch, denn fernab von langen Rockermähnen und Lederjacken, trugen die Gäste dort bevorzugt sogar Anzüge oder Krawatten! Aufgrund der Beliebtheit des Clubs, gab es auch schon damals die üblichen Probleme wie auch heute: Jugendliche unter 18 Jahren (also ohne Volljährigkeit) durften nicht in den Club. Aber das hinderte viele Jugendliche nicht und so bekamt der Starclub auch immer wieder mal Probleme mit den Gesetzeshütern. Nichts desto trotz hatte der Club jährlich fast 1 Millon Besucher jährlich, die sich das Star-Aufgebot in St. Pauli nicht entgehen lassen wollten: Unter anderem traten auch Franz Zappa, die Livebirds, The Tremors, The Rattles und man höre und staune Jimi Hendrix im Starclub auf!
