UGD works on Kamaraj Road likely to throw traffic out of gear

Traffic congestion is all set to worsen on Kamaraj Road as the Corporation plans to dig the road for a stretch of three km from Manis Theatre near Hope College to Singanallur Bus Stand to lay cement pipes for Under Ground Drainage (UGD) works. Last week, the Corporation wrote to the City Police Commissioner seeking diversion of traffic on the busy road ... It would take time for the junction boxes to set and for the road to be re-laid....

Haphazard use of heavy equipment for road construction in Bajura has affected nearby human settlements negatively. Uprooting of more than 30 trees were reported from Rajkumar Road, Basavanagudi, Ragigudda, Jayanagar 9th Cross. Meanwhile, commuters, who had been bracing traffic snarls due to inundation of major arterial roads from the past three days, probably woke up to their worst nightmare on Friday morning ... No major arterial road was an exception ... Bilekahalli junction on the road is inundated as well bringing the traffic to a standstill....

Vandana Shekhar is having a tough time travelling on Gangapur Road while dropping and picking her children from school since the past few days. Just like her, the road dotted with innumerable potholes has been giving the residents and commuters bumpy rides. "We have to actually find a road between the potholes. KMC involves educational institutes to inspect road damages

The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) is involving three engineering educational institutions in solving the problem of deteriorating roads. The civic administration has written a letter to the institutions requesting them to inspect the roads, provide technical solutions to the ongoing problem and to suggest permanent solutions for avoiding further damage ... The contractors will have to repair the road damages....
AMC to take action against contractors

The city civic body has finally woken up to the apathy of the roads in the city and has decided to peanalize the contractors for constructing poor quality roads. Municipal commissioner Om Prakash Bakoria on Thursday said the civic body would take action against contractors and would soon conduct a survey of all the newly constructed roads to ascertain its damage due to recent rain showers....

The Australian Automobile Association (AAA) is calling on government to renew its focus on road safety as a new report shows 99 more Australians were killed in the year to June 2016 than in the previous year ... The AAA today released its Benchmarking the Performance of the National Road Safety Strategy (NRSS) which shows there were 1,269 fatalities on Australian roads in the year to June 2016, an increase from 1,170 a year earlier....
