The SGSA has a unique remit – it is the only Government funded body tasked specifically with providing advice and guidance on spectator safety at sports grounds in the UK and overseas.

One of our main goals is to provide advice and guidance to help ensure effective safety culture in sports grounds across the UK and the world. We aim to share good practice and to work with a wide range of partners with an interest in safety for spectators at sports grounds.

We help to establish and maintain effective safety cultures at sports grounds, by providing expertise, advice and guidance on physical infrastructure and safety management and we remain committed to ensuring all spectators can enjoy watching sport in safety, security and comfort.

In addition to producing a range of guidance documents covering all aspects of safety at sports grounds, as well as the regulatory role of local authorities, the SGSA works with a range of stakeholders to ensure that appropriate training is available to responsible for spectator safety.
