Norwegians (Norwegian: nordmenn) are a national ethnic group native to Norway. They share a common culture and speak the Norwegian language. Norwegian people and their descendants are found in migrant communities worldwide, notably in the United States, Canada, Australia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and southern Brazil.
Towards the end of the 3rd millennium BC, Proto-Indo-European speaking Battle-Axe peoples migrated to Norway bringing domesticated horses, agriculture, cattle and wheel technology to the region.
During the Viking age, Harald Fairhair unified the Norse petty kingdoms after being victorious at the The Battle of Hafrsfjord in the 880s. Two centuries of Viking expansion tapered off following the decline of Norse paganism with the adoption of Christianity in the 11th century. During The Black Death, approximately 60% of the population died and in 1397 Norway entered a union with Denmark.
In 1814, following Denmark-Norway's defeat in the Napoleonic Wars, Norway entered a union with Sweden and adopted a new constitution. Rising nationalism throughout the 19th century led to a 1905 referendum granting Norway independence. Although Norway remained officially neutral in World War I, the country was unofficially allied with the Entente powers. In World War II Norway proclaimed its neutrality, but was nonetheless occupied for five years by Nazi Germany (1940–45). In 1949, neutrality was abandoned and Norway became a member of NATO. Discovery of oil and gas in adjacent waters in the late 1960s boosted Norway's economic fortunes but in referenda held in 1972 and 1994, Norway rejected joining the EU. Key domestic issues include integration of a fast growing immigrant population, maintaining the country's generous social safety net with an aging population, and preserving economic competitiveness.
British people, or Britons, are the citizens of the United Kingdom, British Overseas Territories, and Crown Dependencies; and their descendants.British nationality law governs modern British citizenship and nationality, which can be acquired, for instance, by descent from British nationals. When used in a historical context, British people refers to the ancient Britons, the indigenous inhabitants of Great Britain south of the Forth.
Although early assertions of being British date from the Late Middle Ages, the creation of the united Kingdom of Great Britain in 1707 triggered a sense of British national identity. The notion of Britishness was forged during the Napoleonic Wars between Britain and the First French Empire, and developed further during the Victorian era. The complex history of the formation of the United Kingdom created a "particular sense of nationhood and belonging" in Great Britain and Ireland; Britishness became "superimposed on much older identities", of English, Scots, Welsh and Irish cultures, whose distinctiveness still resists notions of a homogenised British identity. Because of longstanding ethno-sectarian divisions, British identity in Ireland is controversial, but it is held with strong conviction by unionists.

Norweigian teacher Amun Røstøen Løvland Vennesla brought together four adult students from a vocational school in Kristiansand to work on the project, NRK News reports. Mr Løvland came up with the idea after years of enjoying the sport alongside people with disabilities. The project group wanted to make the sport accessible for anyone in a wheelchair, and spent months designing building a specific paragliding chair from scratch.
Pattaya police and Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team were called out to Soi 13/2 in South Pattaya after receiving a report that a Norwegian man had tried to commit suicide in a room above a beer bar. There the team found 53 year old Mr. Rolf Warnes on the floor in a pool of blood with several cuts to his left arm that he inflicted with a Stanley knife. He was given first aid and rushed to Pattaya Memorial Hospital. Police recovered a blood stained suicide note as evidence. Police believe it is all over a Thai woman called Mariam who left him and would not return his calls. As a result, apparently, the broken hearted man got drunk and decided to end his life. He is now recovering in hospital. News stories placed on this website are short versions. If you would like the full story, please rea...
The Sami people are one of the oldest semi-nomadic indigenous groups in the world. Traditionally herding reindeer in the Arctic regions of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia’s Kola Peninsula (the region is known as Sapmi), they learned to work with the rhythms of nature in order to survive the harsh climate. “Nature is everything for us because we think we belong to Mother Earth,” explains Sami writer/artist/teacher Gunnel Heligfjell, “It is not as with Western European thinking that the earth belongs to us, to the human beings. We think that we belong to the earth like the animals and the plants and everything.” Following the reindeer migrations, they built transportable homes called lavvu from wood and fabric (similar to Native American tipis, but less vertical to sustain high winds)....

Norway is a sovereign and unitary monarchy whose territory comprises the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula plus the island Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard. The Antarctic Peter I Island and the sub-Antarctic Bouvet Island are dependent territories and thus not considered part of the Kingdom. Norway also lays claim to a section of Antarctica known as Queen Maud Land. Until 1814, the Kingdom included the Faroe Islands (since 1035), Greenland (1261), and Iceland (1262). It also included Shetland and Orkney until 1468. Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometres (148,747 sq mi) and a population of 5,109,059 people (2014). The country shares a long eastern border with Sweden (1,619 km or 1,006 mi long). Norway is bordered by Finland and Russia to the north-east, a...
Norway village on holidays: no roads to Norwegian log cabins The Norwegian people have their ways to decide the property conflicts. There are the most property conflicts in the word about the road to home in Norway. This is a part of Norwegian culture and Norwegian traditions. Life in Norway, especially in the Norwegian village, between the Norwegian farmers can be difficult. The population in Norway isn’t so big and there is enough space for everyone, but sometimes it can be funny, how the Norwegian farmers behave. Norwegian oil gives Norwegian people so much money, that they can’t decide who will own the roads in Norway and Norway forest. You need to be careful moving to Norway then – you can get Norwegian log cabins not only without the water, electricity and in the forest, but also a b...
