Due to many requests I made a video breaking down two iconic skate moves: the downtown and crazy legs with Vanna Curtis. There’s many tutorials already out there, but I just wanted to share an alternative way of learning the two moves that helped me. 😊
I mention in this video that there’s many variations of Downtown. If you want to learn them follow Tony Limtiaco, he teaches classes here in LA. Also, I learned many variations from Sam Alexander and Nelson Bracamonte here in Venice Beach. If enough people are interested maybe I’ll do a video with one of them to show ALL the many downtown moves. 😀☺️

It's been a long time coming, since the August 2013 impromptu recording of the Crazy Legs Basic Form.

One, if not the most characteristic move in freestyle rhythm skating, known by different names around the world, such as scissors, toe jammin and zig zag, but Crazy Legs being the most common.
Let's first state clearly, that this is our take on this intriguing move; our personal understanding of and experience with this pattern. There are many different versions to do and ways to learn Crazy Legs.
This is simply just one of them, coming from years of experience with coaching and training a wide range of people.
Key element is the very often neglected and/or underestimated `Intermediate Position`, which truly makes or breaks the pattern and flow of any Crazy Legs.
Concentrating on good form is really not about aesthetics; it's all about
A. Using full potential of a technique.
B. Avoid and prevent harm and injury in the short and long term.
This snippet includes:
Basic Ingredients.
Pattern of movement.
Keynotes.
Intermediate position.
Ladder of progression.
Merging motions.
Crazy variations.
Isolated drill.
Constructional riff.
Bonus exercise.
For the sake of simplicity and time limit, we have excluded a whole bunch of details and variation pointers. Sorry `bout that, but we hope this snippet will give you just enough to polish an improve your flow!
And remember, repetition is the mother of skill.

Crazy Legs (dancer)
Richard Colón (born January 1, 1966) better known by his stage name Crazy Legs, is an American b-boy from the Bronx New York City, USA. He featured in the earliest stories on hip hop dancing to appear in mainstream press, and as president of the Rock Steady Crew brought the form to London and Paris in 1983. Today he is also involved in community outreach, dance instruction and dance theater productions. His pioneering status is reflected in his appearances in fiction films and documentaries, old and new. Crazy Legs is the most popular & commercially successful of the few original members remaining of the Rock Steady Crew, and is its current president.

Crazy Legs (album)
Crazy Legs is a studio album by Jeff Beck and the Big Town Playboys, released on 29 June 1993. The recording is an album of Gene Vincent songs. The album is considered to be a tribute to Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps, and in particular to Vincent's early guitarist Cliff Gallup, whom Beck recognized as his biggest influence.
The album peaked at No. 171 on the Billboard 200 chart.
