"It’s Time for Journalists to be Honest" – my article for CAPS

Hi Gang:

Kindly forward this e-mail to as many folks as you can and then ask those to whom you send this to forward it on to as many folks as they can.  I am attempting to create a “Bucket Brigade of Truth” and need your help!
Please remember to tune into my radio show, “The Michael Cutler Hour” on BlogTalk Radio on Friday evenings at 7:00 PM, Eastern Time, and find podcasts of my previous programs at:

My programs are re-broadcasted on Red State Talk Radio on Monday evenings at 11:00 PM, Eastern Time:
America’s immigration laws were enacted to achieve two primary goals- protect innocent lives and the jobs of American workers, yet it is highly unlikely that this fundamental fact will be noted by journalists who report on various stories that involve our immigration laws.
These supposed purveyors of truth would sooner drop the “F bomb” than use the term “alien” to describe a foreign national who is present in the United States.
This refusal by supposed objective “journalists” to use an official term (ALIEN) that is under, Title 8 U.S. Code § 1101 – Definitions simply defined as being “Any person, not a citizen or national of the United States” speaks volumes about how journalists are willing to twist language to push an agenda.  I defy anyone to explain how that term or that definition is discriminatory or somehow demeans or insults anyone.  You should also make note of the fact that the section of law I cited is comprehended within the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), the official, all encompassing body of federal law that pertains to the entry, presence and removal of aliens from the United States and also provides for the processes by which aliens may acquire such immigration benefits as political asylum, lawful immigrant status and even United States citizenship.

I am frequently interviewed by journalists and by students.  When I use the term “alien” they become uncomfortable as though I had just used the outrageous “N Word.”  They have been influenced into believing something that is utterly false by the constant barrage of deceptive language used by journalists who should be willing to use honest and neutral language but either lack the courage or have an agenda that they are promoting.

When I ask those who express discomfort with my use of the word alien if they know what the legal definition of that term is, most times they admit that they have no idea how the law defines that supposedly problematic term.

Once quote the definition of that term as it appears in the law- all objections generally stop.  Most actually express surprise at the actual definition and  some have told me that they were confused as to why the term alien has fallen into such disrepute where anyone who dares utter that word is castigated and accused of bigotry or even worse.

Some have attributed this sort of nonsense to being Politically Correct.

Let me dispel myth.  This is not about being “Politically Correct.”  I am, in point of fact, mindful of the need to be politically correct (PC).  Being PC is to not seek to insult or humiliate another person.

Use of misleading language to achieve a political goal is what propaganda is all about.  George Orwell, the author of that brilliant novel, “1984” included in that novel about a totalitarian state, the concept of Newspeak the point being that if you eliminate certain words you can eliminate certain thoughts.

Here are two of his amazing quotes:
Open borders anarchists including all too many “journalists” blithely ignore the importance of our nation’s borders and immigration laws and falsely describe advocates for effective and fair immigration law enforcement of being “Anti-Immigrant.”  Anyone who is branded as being “anti” anything is given a virtually insurmountable obstacle to overcome.  In the abortion debate, for example, the two sides are reported as being “Pro-Choice” or “Pro-Life.”  This is how a balanced approach should be reported.  Why then do journalists not refer to advocates for effective immigration law enforcement as simply being “Pro-Enforcement?”
Why do journalists refer to those who oppose effective immigration law enforcement as being “Pro-Immigrant” when, in reality opponents of effective immigration law enforcement actually “Anti-Immigration Law Enforcement?”
When we speak about immigrants who are “Lawfully admitted for Permanent Residence,”  terminology used by immigration agents- indeed when describing such lawful immigrants, agents refer to them as LPR’s, the reference to being “Lawfully Admitted” refers to an act taken in conjunction with the immigration laws of the United States that the pro-enforcement advocates support.

In point of fact, anyone who is pro-enforcement is of necessity, pro-immigrant!

Why are these facts never discussed by journalists who are supposed to report on events objectively?
I believe that those who refuse to discuss immigration honestly by seeking to expunge the term “Alien” from the vernacular, are determined to blur the distinctions between aliens who have been lawfully admitted and aliens who have violated our nation’s borders and immigration laws which constitute our first line of defense and last line of defense against international terrorists, transnational criminals and aliens who, for one reason or another as established by our immigration laws, would pose a threat to the safety and/or well-being of America and Americans.
Furthermore, as my article discusses, our immigration laws make absolutely no distinction about race, religion or ethnicity.
My commentary was posted on the CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization) website on March 9, 2016:

Here are links to a few of my recent commentaries that provide a bit of additional background into the true importance of our immigration laws.  These laws and our borders have never been more important as ISIS and other terror organizations continue their murderous rampage across the Middle East and elsewhere.  These terrorists would love nothing better than to carry out a major attack in the United States:
The Summer 2015 edition of The Social Contract included my article:

The 9/11 Commission Report and Immigration: An Assessment, Fourteen Years after the Attacks

Our borders and our immigration laws are also supposed to not only protect the lives of Americans but the livelihoods of American workers.

The importance of our borders and our immigration laws cannot be overemphasized.  In the war on terror and transnational gangs, they are our first line of defense and our last line of defense against international terrorists and transnational criminals.  They are equally important to American workers who are facing unfair competition from foreign workers, aided and abetted by the administration and advocates for “Sanctuary Cities” and Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

On June 13, 2013 I was interviewed by Neil Cavuto at Fox News on the topic:

The interview ran about 4 minutes and is worth watching.

The starting point for any conversation or legislation concerning immigration must be the findings and recommendations of the 9/11 Commission which determined that a lack of border security, including the visa process. and fraud in the immigration benefits program enabled terrorists to enter and embed themselves in the United States, as they went about their deadly preparations.

In his historic speech before the 3rd Army on May 31, 1944, General George S. Patton said, on the strategy of holding a position:

We’re not holding anything, we’ll let the Hun do that. We are advancing constantly, and we’re not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy.”

Pushing back against Comprehensive Immigration Reform is the same as holding position. The time has come for us to advance by demanding that our borders be made truly secure and our immigration laws be effectively administered and enforced.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform violates all of the findings and recommendations of the 9/11 Commission but no one is willing to even consider how the lack of real border security and the lack of real integrity to the various components of the immigration system imperil national security and public safety.

Immigration is not a single issue but a singular issue that impacts nearly every challenge and threat confronting the United States today!  Simply stated, the immigration laws were enacted to save lives and protect the jobs of American workers.

It is not “Anti-Immigrant” to be “Pro-American!”

Our armed forces are charged with securing America’s borders externally while the DHS is supposed to secure those same borders from within.  The failures of the DHS to live up to its half of the equation are undermining the efforts, valor and incredible sacrifices of Americas men and women who serve in our military!

If our government’s failures to protect American jobs by securing our nation’s borders and effectively enforcing our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!
