Harold Allen Ramis (November 21, 1944 – February 24, 2014) was an American actor, director, and writer specializing in comedy. His best-known film acting roles are as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989) and Russell Ziskey in Stripes (1981); he also co-wrote those films. As a writer-director, his films include the comedies Caddyshack (1980), National Lampoon's Vacation (1983), Groundhog Day (1993), and Analyze This (1999). Ramis was the original head writer of the television series SCTV, on which he also performed, and one of three screenwriters of the film National Lampoon's Animal House (1978).
Ramis' films have influenced subsequent generations of comedians and comedy writers. Filmmakers including Jay Roach, Jake Kasdan, Adam Sandler, and Peter and Bobby Farrelly have cited his films as among their favorites. He won the BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay for Groundhog Day.
Ramis was born on November 21, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ruth (née Cokee) and Nathan Ramis, who owned the Ace Food & Liquor Mart on the city's far North Side. Ramis had a Jewish upbringing. In his adult life, he did not practice any religion. He graduated from Stephen K. Hayt Elementary School in June 1958 and Nicholas Senn High School in 1962, both Chicago Public Schools, and in 1966 from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was a member of the Alpha Xi chapter of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity.
The PGA Tour (officially rendered in all capital letters, as PGA TOUR) is the organizer of the main professional golf tours played primarily by men in the United States and North America. It organizes most of the events on the flagship annual series of tournaments also known as the PGA Tour, as well as the Champions Tour (for golfers age 50 and older) and the Web.com Tour (for professional players who have not yet qualified to play in the PGA Tour), as well as PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latinoamérica, and PGA Tour China. It is headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, a suburb of Jacksonville.
Originally established by the Professional Golfers' Association of America, it was spun off in December 1968 into a separate organization for tour players, as opposed to club professionals, the focal members of today's PGA of America. Originally the "Tournament Players Division," it adopted the name "PGA Tour" in 1975 and runs most of the week-to-week professional golf events on the tournament known as the PGA Tour, including The Players Championship, hosted at TPC Sawgrass, the FedEx Cup, with its finale at The Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club, and the biennial Presidents Cup. The remaining events on the PGA Tour are run by different organizations, as are the U.S.-based LPGA Tour for women and the other men's and women's professional tours around the world.

Recorded on July 29, 1914 here is a real favorite Billy Murray recording of mine on the Victor Talking Machine label played on one of my Victor III phonographs. For your listening enjoyment this is "They Start The Victrola (And Go Dancing Around The Floor). In this delightful song Billy tells us of a jealous gent whose wife is getting a lot of attention from other men when they go out dancing. So, he decides to buy a new Victor Talking Machine so that they can dance at home and she can be his alone. This is not an easy record to find. In fact I have found, for example, no less than 10 examples of "Uncle Josh Buys A Victrola" compared to just 1 example of this record. Thankfully, my one example (here) is in lovely condition. Hope you enjoy this and, as always, thanks for stopping in....

"I‘m just an obnoxious guy who can make it appear charming, that’s what they pay me to do" - Bill Murray in October 1988 T.J. English was tasked with writing a profile of Bill Murray for Irish America magazine. This was around the time Scrooged came out. So he headed out to Murray's house in New Jersey. The guys sat down and the tape recorder was turned on. Murray's dog ran about and wrecked a little havoc. Murray cracked wise on giving back to his mom when he made it big, hijinks on the set of Ghostbusters, the spiritual change that saved him from destruction, and how fame sort of helps with talking to women. Stripes is a 1981 American buddy comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman, starring Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Warren Oates, P. J. Soles, Sean Young, and John Candy. Several actors including John Larroquette, John Diehl, Conrad Dunn and Judge Reinhold were featured in their first significant film roles. Joe Flaherty, Dave Thomas, Timothy Busfield and Bill Paxton also appeared early in their careers. On his way to the premiere of Meatballs, Ivan Reitman thought up the idea for a film: "Cheech and Chong join the army".[2] He pitched it to Paramount Pictures and they greenlit the film that day. Len Blum and Dan Goldberg wrote the screenplay in Toronto and read it to Reitman, who was in Los Angeles, over the phone. The director, in turn, would give the writers notes. Cheech and Chong's manager th...

On this episode of Collider Mail Bag (Saturday September 5th 2015) we take the following viewer emails: David Ribeiro writes: I love your show and watch it religiously. After seeing Agent 47 and the new image for Assasin's Creed, my question is : do video games with a expanded universe and multiple protagonists ( like AC that has novels and comics) stand a better chance for a good adaptation to the big screen than games that have a single protagonist over multiple games (like Hitman)? Or is it just that the story needs to be more suited to adapt to a traditional movie plot rather than be a cinematic game in of itself? Victor Ramsey writes: Hey guys! I'm a huge fan and have watched the show daily for the last year or so. My question is regarding movie trailers and the creative teams beh...

COUPLE #1: Ann Rierdon, Arthur Murray dance instructor / Bill Eddy COUPLE #2: Shirley Lestelle, a woman with a pip-squeaky voice / Charles Sandoval, who's wearing an eye patch because he's "sensitive to the lights" COUPLE #3: Athol Smerdon, from Australia / Mary Sackett, a spunky old lady who complains about Groucho's cigar-- and he obligingly puts it out! ----------------------------------- Click here to subscribe to the YBYL channel, where you'll find well over a hundred complete episodes you can't find anywhere else, as well as some rare Burns and Allen material that doesn't really belong there: http://www.youtube.com/channel/...
