Blackstratblues is a solo project of Warren Mendonsa, who is a guitarist, composer and record producer. He is the nephew of Indian musician and celebrated Bollywood composer Loy Mendonsa of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy fame.
After picking up the guitar at the age of 5, Mendonsa went on to play rhythm guitar in a few local bands with friends Siddharth Coutto (drums) and Girish 'Bobby' Talwar (rhythm guitar, bass). Sometime around 1997-98, they formed Zero, with Rajeev Talwar on vocals.
Over the years, Zero grew to enjoy nationwide popularity in India. With Warren, Zero released two albums and an EP - Albummed (1999), Hook EP (2002), & Procrastination (2005).
Besides his work in Zero, Warren Mendonsa recorded & released numerous instrumentals - the most popular works being Christmas in July, Spitleaf, & Evil- which enjoyed some fame on online music forums like Gigpad, & Harmony Central. He was also involved in many online collaborations with musicians - most notably Adam Martin, Ed DeGenaro and Zorran Mendonsa - which resulted in a few songs. In late 2004, Mendonsa moved to Auckland, New Zealand, thereby quitting Zero.
Karsh Kale (pronounced Kursh Kah-lay, कर्ष काळे in Marathi) is an Indian American musician, producer and composer, and is considered one of the pioneering figures in defining the Asian Underground genre by mixing disparate genres of music such as Indian classical and folk with electronica, rock, pop and ambient music. In addition to production, remixing, and DJ work, Kale is known for his tabla drumming and film composition.
Born as Utkarsha Kale on November 1, 1974 to Indian Marathi speaking immigrants in West Bromwich, England, Kale was raised in Brooklyn, New York after his parents relocated in 1977. Kale took an interest in drums and eventually became a tabla player. Kale's father introduced Kale to a broad range of music, which included traditional Indian music, classical, rock, and even early hip-hop. From this broad range of influences, Kale, who was self-taught, developed his own style, which eventually led to his "electric tabla".
In 2000, Bill Laswell founded Tabla Beat Science, inviting Kale, along with Zakir Hussain, Talvin Singh, Trilok Gurtu and Sultan Khan. Together, the group released Tala Matrix that year. The album is considered to be one of the most influential Asian Fusion albums to date, and the group embarked on a tour, of which one of the shows was later released on DVD.

Raised in Jamshedpur, she moved to Mumbai, at the age of 13 and completed Master's in Applied Statistics from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, before working as jingle singer for three years. During her college days, Mithoon offered her to record the song "Tose Naina" from Anwar (2007), making her Bollywood career debut.
Rao rose to widespread prominence with the release of "Khuda Jaane" from Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008). She was nominated for the Best Female Playback Singer award for the song, in 54th Filmfare Awards. The following year, she collaborated with Ilaiyaraaja for Paa (2009), where she performed the song "Mudi Mudi Ittefaq Se" for which she received another nomination in the same category during 55th Filmfare Awards ceremony. In 2012, Rao teamed up with A.R. Rahman and came up with the song "Ishq Shava" from Jab Tak Hai Jaan which was a commercial success, followed by Pritam-composed "Malang" from Dhoom 3 (2013) and Vishal-Shekar's "Meherbaan" in Bang Bang! (2014). Rao's collaborations with Amit Trivedi were particularly described "delightful hearings" with songs like "Manmarziyan" from Lootera (2013), being critically acclaimed.

Rennaissance Mission was conceived by Warren in a green room at a festival somewhere, waiting to get onstage while sub-heavy music blasted from a PA nearby. The original album recording has Karsh Kale on drums, and is a favourite at the band's recent gigs. The song features a memorable intro hook, and the long jam sections in the middle leave plenty of room for improvisation, which the band takes full advantage of. Adi Mistry and Jai Row Kavi prove to be a locomotive of a rhythm section, with Beven Fonseca's keyboard textures lending a nice touch to the proceedings. Most of the people heard Nikhil D'Souza for the first time when he sang Shaam for Amit Trivedi in Aisha. Then it was Anjaana Anjaani ki Kahani, the first promo track of Anjaana Anjaani. But the real thing that bore his name alone was Crook's Mere Bina, a song that was sung by Mohit Chauhan and KK in other versions, but was loved probably the most in Nikhil's voice. As for introduction, Nikhil is a guitarist, singer and song-writer, is best known for winning the solo category at South Asian talent search Sutasi, and as of now, seems to be entering Bollywood full fledged as a singer apart from his regular music.
