R46 or R-46 may refer to:

The R46 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Malmesbury with Touws River, via Riebeek-Kasteel, Tulbagh and Ceres. The R46 is co-signed with the R44 between Gouda and Hermon in the Berg River valley.

R46 (New York City Subway car)
The R46 is a model of New York City Subway cars built between 1975 and 1978, by Pullman Standard in Chicago, Illinois for use on the B Division (IND/BMT). They, along with the previous R44s, are 75 feet (22.86 m) long.
Currently, the fleet is maintained at Pitkin Yard and Jamaica Yard, running on the A, F, R and Rockaway Park Shuttle.
Background
The R46 order consisted of 754 single cars, originally planned to be 745, that were numbered from 500-1278. Even cars with cabs are A cars; odd cars without cabs are B cars. The first two trains of R46s were placed in service on the F and N on July 14, 1975, with a brief ceremony at the 34th Street – Herald Square station, attended by Mayor Abraham D. Beame and MTA Chairman David Yunich. It is infamous for having had frequent problems in the first decade of service. During the 1976 U.S. Bicentennial celebration, cars 680 and 681 had white, red and blue star bands on their bases and were respectively renumbered 1776 and 1976.

In 1975, the R46 / R-46 were placed into service on the B division of the NYC subway. Built by the Pullman Standard Company, these cars have been in service for nearly 50 years and have faced their fair share of problems. In this pretty short video I went over some of the best and worst parts of this car. This video was scripted, filmed, and edited by Robert (me). I used a bit of footage from Google Maps and Google's Streetview. ᴴᴰᴿ ⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Scrap Train Consisting Of Damaged R46 And R142 Subway Cars Being Towed To Concourse Yard
On February 14th 2023, A scrap train consisting of R46 cars 6150-6151 and R142 cars 6346-6350 were towed out of the 207th Street Yard in Manhattan to transfer over to the Concourse Yard in the Bronx for storage and security system trainings. The Consist was towed on the yard lead out from the 207th street yard and operated down the (A) line to the 135th street Spur track in Manhattan. After the consist made its way to the 135th street spur track, the consist switched onto the (D) line, operating up the line throughout Concourse to the Concourse Yard in the Bronx. Enjoy!

In 1975, the R46 / R-46 were placed into service on the B division of the NYC subway. Built by the Pullman Standard Company, these cars have been in service for nearly 50 years and have faced their fair share of problems.
In this pretty short video I went over some of the best and worst parts of this car.
This video was scripted, filmed, and edited by Robert (me).

On February 14th 2023,
A scrap train consisting of R46 cars 6150-6151 and R142 cars 6346-6350 were towed out of the 207th Street Yard in Manhattan to transfer over to the Concourse Yard in the Bronx for storage and security system trainings. The Consist was towed on the yard lead out from the 207th street yard and operated down the (A) line to the 135th street Spur track in Manhattan. After the consist made its way to the 135th street spur track, the consist switched onto the (D) line, operating up the line throughout Concourse to the Concourse Yard in the Bronx.
