Harbhajan Singh (born as Harbhajan Singh Puri) (August 26, 1929 – October 6, 2004), also known as Yogi Bhajan and Siri Singh Sahib to his followers, was a yogi, spiritual teacher, and entrepreneur, who introduced Kundalini Yoga to the United States. He was the spiritual director of the 3HO (Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization) Foundation, with over 300 centers in 35 countries.
Harbhajan Singh Khalsa was born on August 26, 1929 into a Sikh family in Kot Harkarn, Gujranwala district, in the province of Punjab (now in Pakistan). His father, Dr. Kartar Singh Puri, served the British Raj as a medical doctor. His mother, a Hindu, was named Harkrishan Kaur. His father was born in the Sikh tradition and young Harbhajan was educated in a Catholic school run by nuns. Singh learned the fundamentals of Sikhism from his paternal grandfather, Bhai Fateh Singh. Theirs was a well-to-do landlord family, owning most of their village in the foothills of the Himalayas.
His schooling was interrupted in 1947 by the violent partition of India, when he and his family fled to New Delhi as refugees. There, Harbhajan Singh attended Camp College – a hastily put together arrangement for thousands of refugee students – and led the Sikh Students Federation in Delhi. Four years later, he graduated with a master's degree in Economics.
Kundalini Yoga (Sanskrit kuṇḍalinī-yoga), also known as laya yoga, is a school of yoga that is influenced by Shaktism and Tantra. It derives its name through a focus on awakening kundalini energy through regular practice of meditation, pranayama, chanting mantra and yoga asana. Called by practitioners "the yoga of awareness", it aims "to cultivate the creative spiritual potential of a human to uphold values, speak truth, and focus on the compassion and consciousness needed to serve and heal others."
What has become known as "Kundalini yoga" in the 20th century, after a technical term peculiar to this tradition, is actually a synthesis of many traditions which may include haṭha yoga techniques (such as bandha, pranayama, and asana), Patañjali's kriya yoga (consisting of self-discipline, self-study, and devotion to God), tantric visualization and meditation techniques of laya yoga (known as samsketas), and other techniques oriented towards the 'awakening of kundalini'. Laya may refer both to techniques of yoga, and (like Raja Yoga) its effect of "absorption" of the individual into the cosmic. Laya Yoga, from the Sanskrit term laya meaning "dissolution", "extinction", or "absorption", is almost always described in the context of other Yogas such as in the Yoga-Tattva-Upanishad, the Varaha Upanishad, the Goraksha Paddhati, the Amaraugha-Prabodha, and the Yoga-Shastra of Dattatreya. The exact distinctions between traditional yoga schools is often hazy due to a long history of syncretism, hence many of our oldest sources on Kundalini come through manuals of the tantric and haṭha traditions such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Shiva Samhita. The Shiva Samhita describes the qualified yogi as practicing 'the four yogas' to achieve kundalini awakening while lesser students may resort solely to one technique or another: "Mantra Yoga and Hatha Yoga. Laya Yoga is the third. The fourth is Raja Yoga. It is free from duality."
A yogi is a practitioner of yoga. The term "yogi" is used broadly to refer to sannyasi or practitioners of meditation in a number of Indian religions.
Yogi, or Jogi, since the 12th-century CE, while meaning those dedicated to Yoga practice, has also referred to members of the Nath Siddha tradition of Hinduism. Alternatively, a tantrika is also called as yogini in Tantra traditions of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. In Hindu mythology, god Shiva and goddess Parvati are depicted as emblematic yogi-yogini pair.
In Classical Sanskrit, the word yogi (Sanskrit: masc yogī, योगी; fem yoginī) is derived from yogin, which refers to a practitioner of yoga. Yogi is technically male, and yoginī is the term used for female practitioners. The two terms are still used with those meanings today, but the word yogi is also used generically to refer to both male and female practitioners of yoga and related meditative practices belonging to any religion or spiritual method.
The term Yogini is also used for divine goddesses and enlightened mothers, all revered as aspects of the Divine Mother Devi.
February 12, 1995 Guru Ram Das Ashram, Los Angeles, CA, USA In the lecture entitled, "Learn to be You," from the "Light of the Shabad Guru" series, the Siri Singh Sahib discusses how to live authentically. He explains, "Body is given to you for the sensory system of the soul...once you learn how to take care of it, you learn how to live...the conflict between I and Thou always is reflective. But, the Siri Guru Granth Sahib directly addresses the mind as a separate identity...Soul has taken birth to experience God's creation in it's infinity, to go from here unto infinity of the mind itself. That's why Guru says in Japji, if you can conquer your mind, from your negativity and ill thoughts and lower self, you can win the whole world." Copyright The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan

January 15, 1989 Guru Ram Das Ashram - Los Angeles, CA, USA In the lecture, "Soul Mate," from the "Light of the Shabad Guru" series, the Siri Singh Sahib discusses loneliness and the longing to mate. He explains that this deep and natural urge originates in the soul, who feels lonely for God. The Soul sends the message to the mind, "Take me to my True Love." If the mind is not tuned to the soul, it will send maya: sex, drugs, negative patterns. "Do you want to satisfy your longing with maya? Or, do you want to satisfy your soul with the Guru's Shabad?" Did Yogi Bhajan design his Kundalini Yoga for mind control cult induction? In this video I discuss how Yogi Bhajan designed his kundalini yoga to create hypnotic states in order to control minds and make his students more susceptible to induction into his cult. In my experience, the Yogi Bhajan way of smashing everyone into altered states by piling on more and more exercises, meditations and perhaps a gong meditation leaves people spacey and prone to induction into his cult. That's probably why he (Yogi Bhajan) did it and why Kundalini Yoga teachers keep on doing it. The heavy breathing (breath of fire as Yogi Bhajan called it) techniques, loud gong sounds ringing in your ears and hours of Yogi Bhajan mantra chanting, sometimes in front of his picture, put unsuspecting people into an almos...

Shoaib Akhtar beat up Harbhajan, Yuvraj.Shoaib once threatened me he would come to my room and beat me. I told him come, let's see who beats whom. I was really scared. He is a great hulk. He once bashed me and Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) inside a room. Since he was heavy, it was difficult to catch him," Harbhajan said. "Shoaib abused me a lot. He used to sit with us, ate with us. Since he was too close to us, maybe he used to take us for granted. He challenged me once to hit a six and when I hit a six, he was shocked. He then bowled two consecutive bouncers which I evaded. He then abused me and I replied back. But after the game, we sat together as if nothing happened. एक टीवी कार्यक्रम में हरभजन ने बताया, "शोएब ने एक बार मुझे धमकी दी थी कि वो मेरे कमरे में आकर मुझे पीटेंगे. मैंने कहा, कमरे में आ...

black stone opens to the mind
this weak body far behind
now closing in, hungry to begin
an ancient door to hidden light
for coming times to discover
I step across the Edge of Dawn
white light solid to my eye
deep down inside I'm alive
now I see it, the infant spirit
an ancient door to hidden light
for coming times to discover
I step across the Edge of Dawn
for better man to recover
death will give birth again
new life will rise my friend
now closing in, eager to begin
black stone opens up the gate
this weak body integrate
now I see it, the infant spirit
an ancient door to hidden light
for coming times to discover
I step across the Edge of Dawn
