Raising its black flag over the rugged mountainous regions of Afghanistan, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has emerged as a new threat to the war-ravaged country as it battles the Taliban for supremacy.
Employing violence and brutality used by the group in Syria and Iraq, Wilayat Khorasan, (the ancient name ISIL has chosen for the region made up of Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of neighbouring countries), has emerged in seven different areas and vowed to step up operations, where the veteran fighters, the Taliban, once held sway.
Fighting to reconstitute the historical Khorasan into the so-called 'Caliphate' of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the group says it has grand plans for the region, starting with uprooting the Taliban and the government of President Ashraf Ghani.
Causing friction with the regional and overall leadership of the Taliban, armed battles have increased over the past few months with dozens of Taliban fighters killed in the clashes, most notably in the Taliban stronghold of Nangarhar province.
ISIL's local chapter has also managed to attract dozens of fighters from the Taliban's ranks into its fold, while foreign fighters unable to make it to Syria and Iraq have thronged to the group's territory.
In ISIL and the Taliban we look at the group's growing popularity, how it made steady inroads into the country and the threat it poses for the future of Afghanistan.
We gain exclusive access to ISIL's central leadership, and meet children as young as 5-years-old being trained to fight and dedicate their lives to the 'Caliphate'.

On the face of it, it looks like any state-run oil industry. Engineers, managers and traders, all help extract, refine and distribute oil, which makes its way across Syria and Iraq as well as overseas. But this is no state-run company. This is the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's (ISIL) lifeline - a business that provides the armed group with more revenue than any other source. Oil helps to fund its war in Syria and Iraq, as well as to provide electricity to the 10 million people living under ISIL control. But despite the oil trade being targeted by the US-led coalition against ISIL, the business continues to thrive. And many people are increasingly asking why. Russia has accused Turkey of buying oil from the armed group. Ankara in turn threw this allegation back at Moscow because of Russian support for Bashar al-Assad, who is also accused of buying oil from ISIL. And to complicate matters, ISIL oil is also being sold to other rebel groups in Syria, most of whom are opposed to ISIL but have no alternative sources of fuel. So who are the individuals and groups involved in refining and selling ISIL's oil? And where does that oil end up?

Avram Noam Chomsky (/ˈnoʊm ˈtʃɒmski/; born December 7, 1928) is an American linguist, philosopher,cognitive scientist, historian, and activist. He is an Institute Professor and Professor (Emeritus) in the Department of Linguistics & Philosophy at MIT, where he has worked for over 50 years. Chomsky has been described as the "father of modern linguistics" and a major figure of analytic philosophy. His work has influenced fields such as computer science, mathematics, and psychology.
Ideologically identifying with anarcho-syndicalism and libertarian socialism, Chomsky is known for his critiques of U.S. foreign policy and contemporary capitalism, and he has been described as a prominent cultural figure. His media criticism has included Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media (1988), co-written with Edward S. Herman, an analysis articulating the propaganda model theory for examining the media.
According to the Arts and Humanities Citation Index in 1992, Chomsky was cited as a source more often than any other living scholar from 1980 to 1992, and was the eighth most cited source overall. Chomsky is the author of over 100 books. He is credited as the creator or co-creator of the Chomsky hierarchy, the universal grammar theory, and the Chomsky–Schützenberger theorem.

Engineers, managers and traders, all help extract, refine and distribute oil, which makes its way across Syria and Iraq as well as overseas. But this is no state-run company. This is the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's (ISIL) lifeline - a business that provides the armed group with more revenue than any other source. Oil helps to fund its war in Syria and Iraq, as well as to provide electricity to the 10 million people living under ISIL control. But despite the oil trade being targeted by the US-led coalition against ISIL, the business continues to thrive. And many people are increasingly asking why. Russia has accused Turkey of buying oil from the armed group. Ankara in turn threw this allegation back at Moscow because of Russian support for Bashar al-Assad, who is also accused of buying oil from ISIL. And to complicate matters, ISIL oil is also being sold to other rebel groups in Syria, most of whom are opposed to ISIL but have no alternative sources of fuel. The ISIL militant group has claimed responsibility for a suicide attack in Iraq which has killed at least 60 people, medical and security officials say. Fighting to reconstitute the historical Khorasan into the so-called 'Caliphate' of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the group says it has grand plans for the region, starting with uprooting the Taliban and the government of President Ashraf Ghani.
Causing friction with the regional and overall leadership of the Taliban, armed battles have increased over the past few months with dozens of Taliban fighters killed in the clashes, most notably in the Taliban stronghold of Nangarhar province.
ISIL's local chapter has also managed to attract dozens of fighters from the Taliban's ranks into its fold, while foreign fighters unable to make it to Syria and Iraq have thronged to the group's territory.
In ISIL and the Taliban we look at the group's growing popularity, how it made steady inroads into the country and the threat it poses for the future of Afghanistan.

On the face of it, it looks like any state-run oil industry. Engineers, managers and traders, all help extract, refine and distribute oil, which makes its way across Syria and Iraq as well as overseas. But this is no state-run company. This is the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's (ISIL) lifeline - a business that provides the armed group with more revenue than any other source. Oil helps to fund its war in Syria and Iraq, as well as to provide electricity to the 10 million people living under ISIL control. But despite the oil trade being targeted by the US-led coalition against ISIL, the business continues to thrive. And many people are increasingly asking why. Russia has accused Turkey of buying oil from the armed group. Ankara in turn threw this allegation back at Moscow because of Russian support for Bashar al-Assad, who is also accused of buying oil from ISIL. And to complicate matters, ISIL oil is also being sold to other rebel groups in Syria, most of whom are opposed to ISIL but have no alternative sources of fuel. So who are the individuals and groups involved in refining and selling ISIL's oil? And where does that oil end up?

Optuženi Emin Hodžić, rođen 28.10.1992. godine u Sarajevu, državljanin BiH, u potpunosti je priznao krivicu za krivično djelo organiziranje terorističke grupe.
Hodžić je priznao u potpunosti da je određen vremenski period boravio na području Sirije i Iraka u strukturama tzv. IDIL-a, koji je od Vijeća sigurnosti UN-a proglašen terorističkom organizacijom.
Optuženi je priznanjem krivice pristao da mu se izrekne zatvorska kazna u trajanju od godinu dana, koju će izdržavati u Bosni i Hercegovini.
Predložena kazna u skladu je s ulogom optuženog u izvršenju tog krivičnog djela, kao i njegovom odgovornošću za krivično djelo za koje se tereti.
U okviru aktivnosti Tužilaštva BiH i partnerskih agencija za provođenje zakona u BiH i inostranstvu, sve veći broj državljana BiH i članova porodica prijavljuje nezakonitosti u vezi s odlaskom i boravka državljana BiH koji su na stranim ratištima.
Također, određen broj državljana BiH koji se nalaze na području Sirije i Iraka, zbog nesnošljivih uslova boravka, kontaktira sigurnosne agencije s namjerom povratka u BiH, sporazumnog priznanja i izdržavanja kazne u Bosni i Hercegovini, navodi se u saopćenu Tužilaštva BiH.

Over 60 terrorist of the ISIL group were killed and many more were wounded after a column of the terrorists found themselves in an ambush operation of the Syrian Army forces Southeast of Homs province.
The ISIL suffered a heavy death toll of over 60 killed members.
The Syrian army's artillery units, for their part, shelled the ISIL positions in the Palmyra Triangle.
The Syria army troops and the NDF advanced significantly against the ISIL in the surrounding of Tadmur and in the Quaryatayn hills.
Also on Sunday, the Syrian army's artillery and missile units severely pounded ISIL's military positions and gathering centers in a key region East of Homs province, according to FNA.

Ram Ben-Barak, the director general of Israel's Intelligence Ministry, says dividing Syria is “the only possible solution” to the conflict.
Israel's Minister of Military Affairs Moshe Ya'alon, who was in Munich to meet with European counterparts and Jordan's King Abdullah, also echoed Ben-Barak’s remarks. Ya'alon also voiced doubt that a ceasefire plan for Syria agreed upon recently would succeed.
After negotiations in Munich, diplomats from a working group of 17 countries, including the US, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran, agreed Thursday to establish a temporary "cessation of hostilities" in Syria within a week.
The International Syria Support Group (ISSG) also called for rapid humanitarian access to besieged Syrian towns. The Israeli officials' statements come as reports say Israel has been supporting the militants fighting the government of Syria's President Bashar al-Assad.
The Israeli regime has set up hospitals near the border with Syria to treat the injured militants coming in from the battlefield there. Locals in the occupied Golan Heights have also intercepted Israeli vehicles transporting injured militants on the road between al-Sheikh Mountain and the village of Majdal Sham.
The Israeli calls for dividing Syria was raised as Turkey and Saudi Arabia, two regional sponsors of militant groups in Syria, have in recent weeks voiced their interest in launching a ground operation inside the country.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said Ankara and Riyadh could launch a ground operation in Syria “if there is a strategy.”
The United States has welcomed the Saudi offer, while it has been met with strong criticism from Syria and its allies. Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem has said that any “ground intervention on Syrian territory without government authorisation would amount to an aggression that must be resisted.” He has also warned that potential aggressors would return home in a “wooden coffin.” Russia, Iran and Iraq have also warned against the deployment of foreign ground forces in Syria.
The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared up in March 2011, has killed some 470,000 people and left 1.9 million injured, according to the so-called Syrian Centre for Policy Research.

A former religious advisor to Osama bin Laden, Abu Hafs al-Mauritani has joined a chorus of Muslims in condemning the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group, denouncing its recent attacks in Paris as going against the tenets of Islam.
In his first interview to an English-TV audience, Mauritani tells Al Jazeera's Sami Zeidan that ISIL has "misunderstood" Islam, just as people in the West might "misunderstand Christianity".
"Islam forbids the killing of innocent people, regardless of whether they are Muslims or non Muslims," he says. "Killing civilians and innocent people ... is unacceptable and has nothing to do with jihad."
A former al-Qaeda ideologue who served on the group's Shura Council, Mauritani left al-Qaeda in August 2001 after disagreeing with bin Laden's decision to target civilians.
After the September 11 attacks, he fled to Iran where he spent 10 years in prison before being extradited to Mauritania.
Speaking from the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott, he accuses ISIL's recruitment methods, citing political and not religious grievances for the group's rise.
He blames the West's support for Israel, "corrupt Arab regimes" and "counter revolutions after the Arab Spring" for the spread of the armed group.
"Why else would they have hit France and not hit the Vatican?" he says. "The Vatican represents western Christianity, why didn’t they attack a church?"
France has been bombing ISIL targets in Syria since late September, and since the Paris attacks has carried out a wave of air strikes on the Syrian city of Raqqa, the de-facto capital of the "Islamic State".
Mauritani, who rejects Baghdadi's claim to be the leader of all Muslims, says ISIL fails to meet the conditions and requirements of a caliphate and is a "fruit" of the US-led occuptaion of Iraq.
Mauritani also talks to Al Jazeera about why he joined - and left - al-Qaeda and what drives people to join the ranks of ISIL and other armed groups.
