The
home is believed to be where the suspected shooter at Excel Industries, Cedric Ford lived. Ford was killed by authorities after the shooting.
Earlier tonight,
Newton Medical Center was placed on lockdown due to police activity in the area. The Newton Rec
Center is also on lockdown tonight.
People are being allowed to leave the center, but no one is allowed in.

Update 7:45 p.m.: Excel Industries has announced that the company will not be open for business Friday.
Update 7: 40 p.m.:
Eyewitness News has learned that Newton Medical Center is on lockdown due to police activity in the area. The lockdown at
Hesston College was lifted. The Hesston
School District also placed its schools on lockdown.

SWAT team members have responded to a home in Newton.
The American Red Cross is setting up a reception area at Hesston
High School for Excel employees/family and friends.
Update 7:30 p.m.:
Multiple eyewitnesses and employees at Excel Industries identify the shooter as Cedric Ford, 38, an employee at the company in Hesston. Ford lived in Newton.
According to
Florida court documents, he was charged with multiple crimes in his history, including burglary, grand theft, fleeing and eluding and other charges dating back to
1996. Ford was also booked in
Sedgwick County in 2008. Eyewitness News has not confirmed the charges in the Sedgwick County arrest.
Excel Industries shooter identified
His
Facebook page says he was a painter at Excel.
We have pulled pictures and video that were posted on
Ford's Facebook page. The photo shows him holding at least two guns and the video show him shooting what appears to be an assault rifle.
We know that Ford had criminal history out of Broward and
Miramar counties in Florida from 1997-2000.
We are working to gather more information and will bring it to you as it becomes available.
Thursday night, the
Harvey County Sheriff's Office issued the following statement:
Around 5pm tonight, there was an active shooter situation that began around the area of 12th and meridian in Newton where shots were reported. There were also reports of shots fired at
Meridian and Hesston Rd as well as an active shooter situation in Excel Industries. The shooter at Excel Industries has been shot and killed.
There have been numerous shooting victims as well as some fatalities.
Families are currently being notified by emergency personnel.

Sheriff T.
Walton says 4-7 people, including the shooter at Excel Industries in Hesston have been killed. Walton said the shooter was an employee, and he was killed by authorities.
Walton said as many three people were killed. As many as 20 people were hurt. Walton said there are four to five crime scenes in this case.
More information is expected at the next briefing at 9 p.m.
In
Wichita, Via Chrisiti
St. Francis says it is treating five patients from the shooting in serious condition and two in fair condition. Four patients are being treated at Newton Medical Center and six at
Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Mutual aid was provided with ambulances sent to the scene from
Rice County, Sedgwick County and several communities including
Marion, McPherson and Sedgwick.
Newton's fire chief also responded.
