The Fast and the Furious is a 2001 American street racing action film starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster. Directed by Rob Cohen, The Fast and the Furious was the first mainstream film to feature the Asian automotive import scene in North America. It is the first film in The Fast and the Furious film series. The film's concept was inspired by a Vibe magazine article about street racing in New York City, and its plot is loosely based on No Man's Land, and Point Break. This film bears no storyline relation to Roger Corman's The Fast and the Furious (1955), despite that being the source of the title. The 2001 film became the original of a franchise series when it was followed by 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) (chronologically the last), Fast & Furious (2009) and Fast Five (2011).
In the middle of the night, on a highway in Los Angeles, three black modified 1993 Honda Civics follow a semi-trailer truck, and they manage to hijack the truck, stealing over $6 million in merchandise of TV-s and electronics that were on the truck.

Set in the sexy and colorful underground world of Japanese drift racing, the newest and fastest customized rides go head-to-head on some of the most perilous courses in the world. Sean Boswell (Black) is an outsider who attempts to define himself as a hot-headed, underdog street racer. Although racing provides a temporary escape from an unhappy home and the superficial world around him, it has also made Sean unpopular with the local authorities. To avoid jail time, Sean is sent to live with his gruff, estranged father, a career military-man stationed in Tokyo. Now officially a gaijin (outsider), Sean feels even more shut out in a land of foreign customs and codes of honor. But it doesn’t take long for him to find some action when a fellow American buddy, Twinkie (Bow Wow), introduces him to the underground world of drift racing. Caught up in Toretto's world of gang conflict that is resolved in late-night car races, Spindler starts to sympathize with his chief suspect and falls in love with Toretto's younger sister Mia (Jordana Brewster). The United Nations condemned on Friday the "gruesome" killing of a wounded Palestinian attacker by an Israeli soldier in the West Bank, after a video of the shooting spread online. More on that later because this movie is obsessed with the name Martha ... There's no repeat of the destruction from "Man of Steel" here ...
