Liner notes below which I lifted from the internet: ["...Drumbeats- -native, primitive--in a fascinating percussion fantasy by two skilled musicians. That's duelin' Demon Drums! Watusi A. P. B. -- throbbing signal drums pulse with the demon spirits, unleashed at last. Masai Rumble -- tribal rhythms, performed by two drummers, ending with the crash of cymbals. Tumbatu Tintintambula -- a flourish of cymbals and cowbells. Tombs of Cameroon -- spirit ululations, echoing gauntly through the reaches of vaulted sepulchres. Bantu Bounce -- solos by our two percussion pundits. A deliberate essay in corn, done with a light touch of the knowing and serious player. Kikuya Strut -- a march, to native American rhythms. Mombassa Bombilation -- thumpin' tom-toms. The remaining sections of Tanganyika feature the progressively more complex use of sound-on-sound recording to vary the textures of percussion sound. Nairobi Mambo -- Ubangi Boom -- Breezy Zambezi -- Specter of the Zulu Goddess -- Sumbawanga Rattatto -- snare drums, rattles, cymbal-crashes, and assorted percussion sounds, ending furiously. A note on personnel: Richard Campbell was winner of the famous Gene Krupa drum contest back in the '40s; his active career has included a U.S.O. tour through South America and Africa, where he studied authentic native rhythms such as are used on this... Harry H. Coon toured with the great Ben Bernie Band, winning wide acclaim from musicians as well as the public for his sensational drumming. In composing this tape, Messrs. Campbell and Coon worked closely with engineer James Cunningham, himself a musician, to achieve new and unusual effects. I ripped its contents for my enjoyment and created this video hoping to share it with others who appreciate hard-to-find and obscure music.
