Build Description*
Path of Exile 2.3 "
Prophecy" added a new melee skill: Lacerate.
It's the love child of
Dual Strike and
Sunder: you attack once with each hand, and the attack continues in a piercing line for a reasonable distance. It can only be used with
Swords and
Axes, so we might pick up one of each. When you are toe to toe with your target, both attacks will intersect on top of your target, hitting it once with each weapon. This makes it ideal for stacking poison damage.
As a melee
Duelist using two weapons, I'm going for a
Gladiator Ascendancy, and focus on the bleeding side of that tree. Boosting physical damage and damage over time will affect both bleeding and poison. To stay alive, we will layer Armour, Evasion,
Life,
Leech and
Regen,
Block, and the Enfeeble curse.
*Ascendancy*
We start as a Duelist, then become a Gladiator.

Normal: Gratuitous
Violence, will make us cause bleeding, increases damage against bleeding targets, and makes bleeding mobs explode.

Cruel: Outmatch and
Outlast, will generate
Endurance and
Frenzy charges for us by killing things.

Merciless:
Blood in the
Eyes, increases the bleed chance, Maims bleeding targets, take less damage from bleeding targets, even more damage against bleeding targets.

Uber: Painforged, more damage or more block, both are good.

Riposte in this 6-link is fairly insane in terms of damage output, at least so far. This means the rest of the build can devote itself to helping us stay alive! The Riposte/Vengeance chain, Stone Golem and CwdT chain are all defensive measures to help us sustain ourselves during combat. This build stacks just about all defense layers it can.
Until you get Lacerate at level 12, use
Double Strike (starter skill) + Melee Splash (lvl 8) + Added Fire (lvl 8)
