Lyrics:
I need your love
I need your time
When everything's wrong
You make it right
I feel so high
I come alive
I need to be free with you tonight
I need your love
I need your love
I take a deep breath every time I pass your door
I know you're there but I can't see you anymore
And that's the reason you're in the dark
I've been a stranger ever since we fell apart
And I feel so helpless here
Watch my eyes are filled with fear
Tell me do you feel the same
Hold me in your arms again

Yes...those are people falling out...
911 wasn't the only aviation disaster to happen in New York. The 1960 New York mid-air collision, also known as the Park Slope Plane Crash, was a mid-air collision between two airliners that occurred over New York City on Friday, 16 December 1960. The collision of United Airlines Flight 826 and Trans World Airlines Flight 266 caused Flight 266 to crash into Staten Island and Flight 826 to crash into Park Slope, Brooklyn, resulting in the deaths of all 128 people on board the two airliners and six people on the ground.
At 10:21 A.M. Eastern Time, the United plane advised its company radio operator that one of its VOR receivers had stopped working (although they did not notify air traffic controllers of the problem), making it harder to navigate in instrument conditions. At 10:25 A.M. Eastern Time, air traffic control issued a revised clearance for the flight to shorten its course to the Preston holding point (near South Amboy, New Jersey) by 12 miles (19 km). The United plane was supposed to circle the holding point at an altitude of 5,000 ft (1,500 m) at no more than 240 mph (210 kn; 390 km/h).
The weather was light rain and fog (which had been preceded by snowfall). According to information from the United plane's flight data recorder (the first time a "black box" had been used to provide extensive details in a crash investigation), the plane was 12 miles (19 km) off course and for 81 seconds descended at 3,600 feet per minute (18 m/s) and slowed from more than 500 to 363 mph (434 to 315 kn; 805 to 584 km/h) when it collided with the TWA Constellation just ahead of the wings via one of the DC-8's engines. The Constellation's fuselage was torn apart violently, also ripping the DC-8's engine off its pylon. The Constellation entered a dive with debris being blasted out of the aircraft as it spiraled to the ground. The DC-8, without one engine, managed to remain in flight for some time.
With a death toll of 134, the accident was the deadliest U.S. commercial aviation disaster at the time, exceeding the 1956 Grand Canyon mid-air collision's toll of 128 fatalities. Both collisions involved a TWA aircraft and a United aircraft. The death toll also surpassed the 1953 Tachikawa air disaster as the deadliest aviation disaster worldwide, and would remain so until 1969, when Viasa Flight 742, a Viasa McDonnell Douglas DC-9, crashed after takeoff at Maracaibo, Venezuela, killing 155.
Filmmaker and critic Hollis Frampton was scheduled to be on the United flight, but decided to delay his return to New York for one day in order to see a retrospective of the work of Edward Weston in Minneapolis; he said of this decision that he was "never...able to decide whether Weston tried to kill me, or saved my life." Mountaineer Edmund Hillary was also scheduled on this flight, but was late and did not board the aircraft.

"According to AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams, the initial slow-moving nature of Bill will be an exacerbating factor with long-lasting rain and repeating showers and thunderstorms in some cases over the Ohio Valley.
"Any place along the path of Bill to the Atlantic Coast will be at risk for street flooding, rapid rises along small streams, travel delays and disruptions to outdoor activities even though the forward speed of the storm will increase," Abrams said.
"A pulse of heavy rain and flooding associated with the remnants of Bill could focus on northern West Virginia and neighboring portions of northwestern Virginia, northern Maryland, southern Pennsylvania, northern Kentucky and southern Ohio Saturday night into Sunday," Margusity said.
There is the potential for rises on some of the rivers including the Ohio, Potomac, Youghiogheny, Scioto, Lehigh, Raritan and Monongahela.
In a significant part of the Ohio Valley and a portion of the central Appalachians, 3-6 inches of rain is forecast with locally higher amounts.
The downpours will affect southern New England on Sunday into Sunday night, until a front from Canada pushes through.
According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Henry Margusity, the atmospheric setup, topography and urbanization will play a role in the flooding.
In part of the mid-Atlantic states, 1-3 inches of rain is forecast but amounts can also be higher at the local level.
Metro areas such as St. Louis; Cincinnati; Pittsburgh; Philadelphia; Baltimore; Washington, D.C.; New York City; Louisville, Kentucky; and Morgantown, West Virginia, could be hit with urban flooding and travel disruptions.
For some of the urban areas it will be the type of rainfall that can collect in underpasses, on lawns and in poor drainage areas along highways. Torrential downpours during the event will cause poor visibility for motorists and low cloud ceilings at area airports.
Showers and storms associated with the front dropping in across the Upper Midwest and southern Canada may be enhanced by Bill's moisture in some locations of upstate New York and northern New England.
The zone from around Bill to the front will be strewn with locally drenching showers and storms.
"It is looking more and more likely that the front approaching from the northwest will pull some of Bill's moisture northward into New England, prior to the front kicking Bill's moisture out into the Atlantic late in the weekend," Abrams said.
By the time Bill crosses the Appalachians, it will have little wind energy left. However, locally gusty thunderstorms can still occur with the potential for downed tree limbs and perhaps sporadic power outages.
Regardless of whether or not rain is associated with Bill or the front, there is a likelihood of drenching downpours affecting many areas of the Northeast during the Father's Day weekend.

Red Bull Hardline, the brainchild of Dan Atherton, has been dubbed one of the most epic downhill courses in the world. And there’s good reason for this. Red Bull Hardline with Jeep returned to the hills of mid-Wales this weekend to take on Dan Atherton’s beast of a trail that proved to be bigger and more technical than anything ever seen before in downhill mountain biking.

Progression was once again the word on everyone’s lips as the riders spent the majority of the weekend getting used to the huge features and technical elements of the track before setting down qualifying times on Saturday.
Former World Champion Gee Atherton was untouchable on Saturday; setting down the fastest qualifying time ensuring that he was the final rider down the course in the finals, but a tyre mechanical meant that he had to limp down the course leaving Ruaridh Cunningham to take the title.

The journey starts in Halifax and stretches right across Canada, from east to west and from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Halifax is situated in a deep, well-defined bay on the Atlantic coastline and has one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world.Ville De Quebec is the capital of the likewise-named province of Canada. In this European-orientated city on the St. Laurence river, French is the main language. In 1608, Samuel De Champlain established it as a centre for the fur trade. The massive and world famous Chateau Frontenac is the city’s best known landmark. In Montreal, Canada’s second largest city, the massive Basilica, the Oratoire Saint-Joseph, is an important pilgrimage destination and in the charming French-style area of the city which is located between the harbour and the modern banking quarter, numerous old buildings have been restored. Although Montreal is located 1600 kilometres from the open sea, it owes its wealth to its waterways which stretch from the country’s interior, to the ocean. In Native American, Toronto means, ‘Meeting Place’ an accurate description for the capital of Ontario Province and Canada’s largest city, a multi-cultural city with giant skyscrapers and noisy streets. Welcome to Toronto, the largest city in Canada and a hub of trade and culture.
“The City That Works” is full of a can-do spirit that is reflected in its buildings. From the famous CN Tower to the castle-like Casa Loma, there’s all sorts of eye candy for the architecture enthusiast. Your Toronto tour should include a trip to Edward Gardens in Hyde Park, or one of the many other green spaces located in the city. Take a bike ride along the trails, or enjoy a picnic while the local chipmunks look on. Don’t drop anything; they’ll grab it.
Your Toronto sightseeing can continue at the Harborfront Center. Go for a walk along the marina, or grab a pint at a brewhouse. And no trip to Toronto is complete without a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame, so make sure you’ve got your team paraphernalia in order before you venture inside. Looking for shopping? You’ll find the Underground City and Kensington Market ready to welcome you and your credit card – or several credit cards, as the case may be. After a day of madcap purchasing, why not stock up on fresh, healthy food at the St. Lawrence Market? You’ll have worked up quite an appetite for delicious local produce.
Before you leave, head to Niagara Falls and take in the spectacle of nature’s power. You’ll never forget the sight and sound of all that water pouring over the falls, nor will you ever forget your trip to Toronto.

Welcome to Montreal, Canada. This extraordinary city, which began life as a French colony in the 1600s, is now a stunning metropolis combining old-world architecture with modern dashes.
When Mark Twain visited Montreal in the 19th century, he was so taken by its many churches that he nicknamed it “The City of 100 Bell Towers.” These numerous buildings are often part of Montreal sightseeing; marvel at the imposing stone façade of Christ Church Cathedral, or stand beneath the great arched ceiling of the beautiful Notre Dame Basilica. You can spend days exploring the city’s many sacred spaces, but Montreal tourism is so much more than that; if you’re a foodie, you’re in luck, because the residents of Montreal adore a good meal, whether it’s poutine from a streetside bistro or fresh produce from the farmers market.
A tour of Montreal will take you across cobblestone streets and through architecture that dates back to the 1600s, but one thing you must remember to do is to walk and play in its numerous green spaces. The city’s inhabitants take great pride in Montreal’s natural beauty, and hikes up Mont Royal or along the St. Lawrence River are frequent activities for locals. Remember to bring your camera, as the riverfront and the mountain are full of striking photo opportunities.
What is your favorite part of Montreal?

Ottawa is the capital of Canada, and the fourth largest city in the country. Ottawa is situated on the south bank of the Ottawa River, and contains the mouths of the Rideau River and Rideau Canal. The older part of the city (including what remains of Bytown) is known as Lower Town, and occupies an area between the canal and the rivers.
The most important places to visit in Ottawa are: Parliament building (undoubtedly among the most beautiful parliament buildings in the world. It should be a must see for all visitors to Ottawa), Chateau Laurier (now part of a hotel. This famous Ottawa landmark retains much of its grandeur, inside you'll find luxurious settings and ornate decor), Supreme Court of Canada (take a tour of this important building. You can even attend the hearings here), Notre Dame Basilica (constructed in the 19th century this beautiful church is among the surviving churches of Ottawa), Rideau Canal (it's a UNESCO world heritage site. The canals offers excellent views of the city. In winter time, it's transformed into a massive skating rink) and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Ottawa travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. https://www.expedia.com/Ottawa.d178296.Destination-Travel-Guides
Welcome to Ottawa, Ontario, where you’ll find charming old-world buildings surrounded by picturesque natural beauty.
The first stop on an Ottawa tour should be the Rideau Canal. This waterway cuts the city in half, and it provides places for boating and paddleboarding during the summer. Visiting in winter? Not a problem—you can go ice skating along the Rideau when it ices over. On the south side of the river, you can see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Parliament Hill. A few blocks to the north is the National Gallery of Canada, a stunning glass-and-granite building full of art from Canadian, European, and other North American artists.
You’ll be hungry after all this walking around, so head to ByWard Market. If you see beavertails, don’t worry; they’re a pastry, not part of an actual beaver—and they’re delicious. ByWard Market also has some of the best fresh produce you’ll ever taste, so stock up on fruits and vegetables while you’re there.
After sampling the fare at ByWard Market, cross the river to visit the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. This is where you can tour recreations of Old Canada: explore 1800s storefronts, wander into log cabins, and learn about the First Nations people who inhabited Canada for thousands of years prior to European settlement.
Round out your trip with a venture to Gatineau Park, where you can relax by the lake or take tea in the MacKenzie King estate.

You don’t need to go all the way to France to say “Bonjour” and nibble on croissants. Quebec maintains strong ties to its French roots, which date back to 1608. In fact, the town’s official language is French and it’s even home to a replica of Norte Dame.
While you’re in town, mosey around the cafes and shops in North America’s oldest retail district, and visit the Musee de la Civilisation. Embark on Quebec City tours around the colonial buildings in Dufferin Terrace, the history at Battlefields Park, and the stunning beauty of Montmorency Falls. From the Saint Lawrence River to Fontaine de Tourny, there are endless attractions to experience in Quebec’s capital city.
When you’re looking to indulge in a little European flair, without leaving North America, explore Quebec City. To further fuel your adventures, check out our travel guide video and pick up more tips and recommendations.

Niagara Falls has long been a symbol of natural power and beauty. Visit this hallmark of Canadian and American tourism and see its majesty from a helicopter, boat, or walkway.
Your Niagara Falls tour begins with a little bit of information: more than six million cubic feet of water spill over the sides per minute. You can explore three waterfalls, the most famous being the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, which are the widest and most powerful. Take a half-hour boat cruise and bask in the falls’ mist, or enter a special set of walkways behind the falls and see the strength and might of the rushing water right in front of you.
No Niagara Falls sightseeing trip is complete without exploring the Botanical Gardens or Niagara on the Lake. The latter attraction offers boutiques, eateries, and picturesque views of the water you won’t soon forget.

Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario. It is located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. The history of Toronto began in the late 18th century when the British Crown purchased its land from the Mississaugas of the New Credit. The British established a settlement there, called the Town of York, which its lieutenant governor, John Graves Simcoe, designated as the capital of Upper Canada. The city was ransacked in the Battle of York during the War of 1812. In 1834, York was incorporated as a city and renamed Toronto.
The most important places to visit in Toronto are: Niagara Falls (located an hour and a half away from Toronto, awe-inspiring Niagara Falls attracts visitors from around the world), CN Tower (dominating Toronto's skyline, this communication tower stands at a staggering 1,815 feet. Spectacular Toronto views await you at the top), Old City Hall (an important historic landmark of Toronto. It too nearly 20 years to complete its construction in 1899), Royal Ontario Museum (Canada's largest museum of world culture. You can see impressive artifacts and archeological objects from around the world), Casa Loma (a magnificent castle on a hill in the north end of Toronto. Visitors are treated well in restored rooms and gardens) and many more.

http://bookinghunter.com
Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls that straddle the international border between Canada and the United States; more specifically, between the province of Ontario and the state of New York. They form the southern end of the Niagara Gorge.
From largest to smallest, the three waterfalls are the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. The Horseshoe Falls lie on the Canadian side and the American Falls on the American side, separated by Goat Island. The smaller Bridal Veil Falls are also located on the American side, separated from the other waterfalls by Luna Island. The international boundary line was originally drawn through Horseshoe Falls in 1819, but the boundary has long been in dispute due to natural erosion and construction.
Located on the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, the combined falls form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world, with a vertical drop of more than 165 feet (50 m). Horseshoe Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America, as measured by vertical height and also by flow rate. The falls are located 17 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York and 75 miles (121 km) south-southeast of Toronto, between the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York.

Travel video about destination Coast to Coast in the country Canada.
Sweden is located in the south of Scandinavia between the North Sea and the East Sea. The Göta Canal connects Kattegatt on the west coast, with the east coast and is the main waterway through Sweden from Gothenburg to Stockholm. From Gothenburg, we travel by boat, the Göta Älv, inland. One remarkable lock after the other opens up huge gates and the inflow of water raises the boat to the next level. The Trollhättan Canal Museum provides a good insight into the construction of the lock system and old drawings show its planning and construction from 1609. It also includes the history of the Göta Canal and how in 1718 Christopher Polhem was commissioned by CharlesThe Twelfth to build a canal. The pathways alongside the canal were once tow paths where oxen pulled the ships along by rope and trees were planted to provide shade to both Man and beast. Our journey leads into the waters of Bottensjön that is connected to Lake Vättern until we finally arrive at the port of Karlsborg. Behind the walls of Karlsborg Fortress are barracks, various buildings and a church. It is a truly massive construction, built in 1809 after Sweden lost Finland to Russia. Located on the idyllic Lovön Island is the royal castle of Drottningholm Slott that is the main residence of the Swedish royal family, the Versailles Of The North. Queen Hedvig Eleonora had this Baroque castle built in 1662 and in 1744 it was presented to Queen Louisa Ulrika as a wedding gift. This classic route from coast to coast has been an amazing experience with the "Blue Ribbon of Sweden" an unforgettable dream!

Travel video about destination Canadian Rockies in Canada.
Jasper, a small, quaint Canadian village, is the starting point for a 230-kilometre journey on the ‘Dream Road Of The Rockies.’ The Rockies are the eastern range of the North American Cordilleras and extend through Canada for 1,200 kilometres. The Jasper Tramway is Canada’s longest and highest cable car and travels up Whistler’s Mountain into a world of stunning mountain scenery, not to mention the Jasper National Park which is the largest and most northerly mountain park in Canada. The Columbia Icefield contains around thirty glaciers and is the largest ice mass in the Rockies. Travelling by snow coach, the stunning scenic splendour of the glaciers and the shining sky are in wonderful contrast to the icy light blue depths of the abyss. After raging waterfalls and frozen ice fields the journey moves on to tranquil lakes, a vast area where Man is only a visitor and Nature belongs to the deer, grizzly bears, elk and birds of prey of this region. From the top of Mount Whitehorn there are magnificent views across the white peaks of Bow Range and down into the deep valley that contains Moraine Lake The Canadian Rockies are a natural world that stretches across high mountains, captivating valleys and huge national parks.

Travel video about destination Montréal in Canada.
Canada's second largest city, Montreal is a fascinating blend of European charm and the American way of life.
In Vieux-Montreal, narrow lanes and small houses recall the past and also the lifestyle of the original settlers. In the old fire station at Place d'Youville - one of the oldest markets in Montreal -- is the Centre d'Histoire in which the 350 year cultural history of the city is on display, from the development of the Irokese Settlement, its prolific fur trade, and right up to today's shining, energetic Metropolis.
Although Montreal is located 1,600 kilometres from the open sea, it owes its wealth to its waterways which stretch from the country's interior, to the ocean. A trip on the Saint Lawrence River with the pleasure boat, BATEAU-MOUCHE, contrasts old, historic warehouses with the highly contemporary apartment block of the Cité du Havre Habitat.
Le Tour Olympique, Montreal's "Crooked Tower", offers panoramic views which extend more than 80 kilometres from its 175 metre tall viewing platform. Next to the Olympic Stadium, the Biodome, in which exotic animals from many corners of the world roam among waterfalls and tropical forests.
Next to the gleaming skyscrapers of the inner city, there are museums, churches and art galleries and in the old quarter, there are more historic buildings than in any other North American city, not forgetting the parks and the romantic harbor. Montreal is a gem!

In this travel video guide to Quebec City, I travel around Quebec City including its historic Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), stop in at the famed Ice Hotel where visitors spend the night on ice beds, and explore the Winter Carnival, the biggest winter carnival in the world that attracts over 600,000 people a year.
I finish up the Winter Carnival by watching a night parade and partying it up at a nighttime outdoor snow rave.

'The complex, far-flung network of preparedness by which America keeps itself ready to fend off attack is the story behind this THE BIG PICTURE film presentation. Beyond the United States, far to the North, stretches the latest link in the gigantic network of sight and sound, the remote radar stations of the Distant Early Warning System which we call the DEW Line. To erect these stations in regions few men had ever seen a short decade ago was an achievement of great proportions. To man them, to keep them operating, to bring in adequate food, clothing, and equipment is another gigantic task -- and a continuous one. The job of carrying supplies and equipment to those remote arctic stations belongs to the Army Transportation Corps. "DEW Line" was filmed by two camera crews whose members followed the East and West Coast Task Forces through their special DEW Line training at Fort Eustis; departure in convoy from Hampton Roads, Virginia, and Seattle; rigors of the trip through the Arctic ice pack; preparations for discharge; and the difficult and diversified conditions encountered at the actual unloading sites. Today the frozen Arctic is a link in our vast chain of defense -- a chain kept strong by many hardworking individuals, not least of whom are the much traveled men of the Army Transportation Corps.'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distant_Early_Warning_Line
The Distant Early Warning Line, also known as the DEW Line or Early Warning Line, was a system of radar stations in the far northern Arctic region of Canada, with additional stations along the North Coast and Aleutian Islands of Alaska, in addition to the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland. It was set up to detect incoming Soviet bombers during the Cold War, and provide early warning of a land based invasion.
The DEW Line was the northernmost and most capable of three radar lines in Canada; the joint Canadian-US Pinetree Line ran from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, and the Mid-Canada Line ran somewhat north of this.
Introduction
The DEW Line was a significant achievement among Cold War initiatives in the Arctic. A successful combination of scientific design and logistical planning of the late 1950s, the DEW Line consisted of a string of continental defence radar installations, ultimately stretching from Alaska to Greenland. In addition to the secondary Mid-Canada Line and the tertiary Pinetree Line, the DEW Line marked the edge of an electronic grid controlled by the new SAGE (Semi Automatic Ground Environment) computer system and was ultimately centred on the Colorado command hub of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
The construction of the DEW Line was made possible by bilateral agreement between the Canadian and American governments and by an alliance between the U.S. Department of Defense and the Bell system of communication companies. It grew out of a detailed study made by a group of the nation's foremost scientists in 1952, the Summer Study Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The subject of the study was the vulnerability of the U.S. and Canada to air attack, and its concluding recommendation was that a distant early warning line of search radar stations be built across the Arctic border of the North American continent as rapidly as possible.
Improvements in Soviet technology rendered the Pinetree Line and Mid-Canada Line inadequate to provide enough early warning and on February 15, 1954, the Canadian and American governments agreed to jointly build a third line of radar stations (Distant Early Warning), this time running across the high Arctic. The line would run roughly along the 69th parallel north, 200 miles or 300 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle.
Before the job was completed, men with the necessary knowledge, skills and experience were drawn from Bell telephone companies in every state in the U.S. Much of the responsibility was delegated under close supervision to a vast number of subcontractors, suppliers, and U.S. military units...

Produced during the Cold War "Aerospace Communications" is a film that shows the dreaded scenario of a nuclear war unfolding between the United States and another nation capable of launching a nuclear strike. Hosted by actor James Stewart, who served in the U.S. Air Force as a bomber pilot, the film describes the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS), Mid-Canada Line, and the Pine Line as well as the Distant Early Warning (DEW) line and the nation's new satellite-based communications system. It also details SAGE, the Semi-Automated Ground Environment, the Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE). This was a system of large computers and associated networking equipment that coordinated data from many radar sites and processed it to produce a single unified image of the airspace over a wide area. SAGE directed and controlled the NORAD response to a Soviet air attack, operating in this role from the late 1950s into the 1980s. Its enormous computers and huge displays remain a part of cold war lore, and a common prop in movies such as Dr. Strangelove and Colossus.
The film features fascinating footage of the Strategic Air Command and its infrastructure and equipment, including advanced communication and computer equipment, closed-circuit television systems, war rooms, radar systems, facsimile machines, telemetry and data links, including undersea communications and antennas. B-58 strike aircraft and B-52 bombers, as well as Atlas missiles, are also shown on patrol in the film.
The RCA 474L Ballistic Missile Early Warning System was a USAF "Big L" Cold War system of radar, computer, and communications systems that included the first operational ballistic missile detection radar. The network of 12 radars for detecting "a mass ballistic missile attack launched on northern approaches [for] 15 to 25 minutes warning time" also provided Project Space Track satellite data (e.g., about 1/4 of SPADATS observations).
It was set up to detect incoming Soviet bombers during the Cold War, and provide early warning of any sea-and-land invasion.
The DEW Line was operational from 1957 to the late 1980s and it was the northernmost and most capable of three radar lines in Canada and Alaska; the joint Canadian-US Pinetree Line ran from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, and the Mid-Canada Line ran somewhat north of this. Between 1988 and 1993, most stations were deactivated. Those that remained were upgraded as part of the new North Warning System.

It also details SAGE, the Semi-Automated Ground Environment, the Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Sealift_Command
The Military Sealift Command (MSC) is a United States Navy organization that controls most of the replenishment and military transport ships of the Navy. It first came into existence on 9 July 1949 when the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) became solely responsible for the Department of Defense's ocean transport needs. The MSTS was renamed the Military Sealift Command in 1970.
Military Sealift Command ships are civilian manned, and are referred to be as being in service, rather than in commission. Some, owned by the United States government, have the prefix USNS, standing for United States Naval Ship, whilst others, on charter or equivalent, are simply the normal merchant MV, SS, or GTS. Their hull numbers have the prefix T- in addition to the normal hull number that an equivalent commissioned ship in the USN would have.
Four programs comprise Military Sealift Command: Sealift, Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force (NFAF), Special Mission, and Prepositioning. The Sealift program provides the bulk of the MSC's supply-carrying operation and operates tankers for fuel transport and dry-cargo ships that transport equipment, vehicles, helicopters, ammunition, and supplies. The NFAF's role is to directly replenish ships that are underway at sea, enabling them to deploy for long periods of time without having to come to port. The Special Mission program operates vessels for unique military and federal government tasks, such as submarine support and missile flight data collection and tracking. The Prepositioning program sustains the US military's forward presence strategy by deploying supply ships in key areas prior to actual need...

Their hull numbers have the prefix T- in addition to the normal hull number that an equivalent commissioned ship in the USN would have.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEW_Line
The Distant Early Warning Line, also known as the DEW Line or Early Warning Line, was a system of radar stations in the far northern Arctic region of Canada, with additional stations along the North Coast and Aleutian Islands of Alaska, in addition to the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland. It was set up to detect incoming Soviet bombers during the Cold War, and provide early warning of a land based invasion.
The DEW Line was the northernmost and most capable of three radar lines in Canada and Alaska; the joint Canadian-US Pinetree Line ran from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, and the Mid-Canada Line ran somewhat north of this...

Glacier National Park is a national park located in the U.S. state of Montana, on the Canada–United States border with the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. The park encompasses over 1 million acres (4,000 sq km) and includes parts of two mountain ranges (sub-ranges of the Rocky Mountains), over 130 named lakes, more than 1,000 different species of plants, and hundreds of species of animals. This vast pristine ecosystem is the centerpiece of what has been referred to as the "Crown of the Continent Ecosystem", a region of protected land encompassing 16,000 square miles (41,000 sq km).
The region that became Glacier National Park was first inhabited by Native Americans. Upon the arrival of European explorers, it was dominated by the Blackfeet in the east and the Flathead in the western regions. Soon after the establishment of the park on May 11, 1910, a number of hotels and chalets were constructed by the Great Northern Railway. These historic hotels and chalets are listed as National Historic Landmarks and a total of 350 locations are on the National Register of Historic Places. By 1932 work was completed on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, later designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark, which provided greater accessibility for automobiles into the heart of the park.
The mountains of Glacier National Park began forming 170 million years ago when ancient rocks were forced eastward up and over much younger rock strata. Known as the Lewis Overthrust, these sedimentary rocks are considered to have some of the finest fossilized examples of extremely early life found anywhere on Earth. The current shapes of the Lewis and Livingston mountain ranges and positioning and size of the lakes show the telltale evidence of massive glacial action, which carved U-shaped valleys and left behind moraines which impounded water, creating lakes. Of the estimated 150 glaciers which existed in the park in the mid-19th century, only 25 active glaciers remained by 2010. Scientists studying the glaciers in the park have estimated that all the glaciers may disappear by 2020 if the current climate patterns persist.
Glacier National Park has almost all its original native plant and animal species. Large mammals such as the grizzly, moose, and mountain goat, as well as rare or endangered species like the wolverine and Canadian lynx, inhabit the park. Hundreds of species of birds, more than a dozen fish species, and a few reptile and amphibian species have been documented. The park has numerous ecosystems ranging from prairie to tundra. Notably, the easternmost forests of western redcedar and hemlock grow in the southwest portion of the park. Large forest fires are uncommon in the park. However, in 2003 over 13% of the park burned.
Glacier National Park borders Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada—the two parks are known as the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park and were designated as the world's first International Peace Park in 1932. Both parks were designated by the United Nations as Biosphere Reserves in 1976, and in 1995 as World Heritage sites.
Thank You!

"Very entertaining film made for phone operators about the many problems you may encounter from customers about party lines."
Public domain film from the Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied.
The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_line_(telephony)
A party line (multiparty line, shared service line) is a local loop telephone circuit that is shared by multiple telephone service subscribers.
Party line systems were widely used to provide telephone service, starting with the first commercial switchboards in 1878. A majority of Bell System subscribers in the mid-20th century in the United States and Canada were serviced by party lines, which carried a billing discount over individual service; during wartime shortages, these were often the only available lines. British users similarly benefited from the party line discount. Farmers in rural Australia used party lines, where a single line spanned miles from the nearest town to one property and on to the next...
Telephone companies offered party lines since the late 1800s, although subscribers in all but the most rural areas may have had the option to upgrade to private line service at an additional monthly charge. The service was common in sparsely-populated areas where remote properties are spread across large distances, such as Australia (where these were operated by the Government Post Master General department). In rural areas in the early twentieth century, additional subscribers and telephones, often numbered in several dozen, were frequently connected to the single loop available.
Party lines provided no privacy in communication. They were frequently used as a source of entertainment and gossip, as well as a means of quickly alerting entire neighbourhoods of emergencies such as fires, becoming a cultural fixture of rural areas for many decades...
Originally, in order to distinguish one subscriber from another on a party line, operators implemented a different ringing cadence for each subscriber, such as two short rings, or one short ring followed by a long ring. Each subscriber heard the ringing sequence and recognized their own to answer the call. Subscribers were able to listen in on other subscribers' calls. Frequently ringing phones were an annoyance, and more selective ringing methods were introduced using various technologies.
Especially effective on two-party lines was the distinction between tip party and ring party. Each telephone bell, rather than being connected across tip and ring as usual, was connected from one wire to local ground. Thus only the selected station in a two party line would ring...
In the local-battery system of the early cranked magneto phones, the phone's own battery powered its transmitter as well as the receiver of the called phone. If too many phones were off-hook and listening, the additional receivers would load down the transmitter's battery with a voltage so low that no phone could receive an intelligible signal.
With party-line service, particularly if there were more than two subscribers on the line, it was often necessary to complete a long-distance call through the operator to identify and correctly bill the calling party. In some cases, the calling party would misidentify themselves in an attempt to send the bill to another party...

Back in 2008, YouTube was a very different world with a cheesy browser and 10 minute upload size limit. The Norfolk Southern Harrisburg Line was also quite different. I dug into the archives just to see how much has changed, and realized there was over 2 hours of footage that hadn't been previously uploaded. This is Part 1 of several more 30 minute videos to follow as we take a look back to May-July 2008. It's not the best quality footage, since long time viewers know I started out with a small point-and-shoot camera that had a video function—even a cell phone 8 years later can take much better quality video.

The Harrisburg Line has changed a lot over the years in regards to train traffic and the appearance of locations. The biggest changes include traffic that no longer exists: trash trains (64J/65J) and CP trackage rights trains to/from Philadelphia (30J/31J) which expired in 2013, most of the coal traffic, and many of the locomotives in this video being retired/rebuilt or repainted from Conrail blue. The subtle changes included the removal of the code line and upgrades of most of the crossings, the old mill at Womelsdorf was torn down and is now an autobody garage, and the 8 to 10th blocks in Lebanon were bulldozed for two overpasses.
0:00 - 5/18: Eastbound Baltimore to Allentown mixed freight train 33A gets a clear signal at CP DORF with a blue SD50 leader.
1:20 - 5/19: Tie train 93M heads east with an ex-CR GP40-2 leading.
1:45 - Coal empties 85E head west through the same crossing later that afternoon with slow orders in effect.
2:15 - We catch up to 85E at Ramona Rd just west of Myerstown. The milepost 81 signal bridge is in the background, and as the camera pans, you can see the abutments for the old signal bridge which have since been removed.
3:25 - 5/30: Local train H31 speeds west through the crossing at Milepost 76.7 with a pair of ex-Conrail locomotives still in blue paint running in the "push-pull" configuration. To this day, this train still originates in Reading Yard in the late afternoon.
4:05 - We catch up to H31 working the ELK roofing materials plant around Milepost 79 just east of Myerstown.
5:15 - H31 crosses Railroad St in Myerstown.
6:55 - H31 passes the 81 signal and over Ramona Rd on its way to Lebanon Chemical.
7:45 - 6/3: Eastbound 534 coal train is bound for the Titus power plant below Reading, which closed down it's coal-burning generators not long after this.
8:30 - 6/12: 31J makes a rare daylight appearance westbound at Railroad St in Myerstown. These tri-weekly trains most often ran in the middle of the night.
10:15 - NYC garbage train 65J heads west for Mingo Jct. Ohio. This train was normally nocturnal. SD40-2 pairs on this train were common for several years. 10:50 - 65J again at Ramona Rd.
11:30 - Roadrailer 262 heads east through the many crossings in Lebanon with a blue widecab Dash-8 leading. The first part of the shot has now been replaced with overpasses.
12:15 - 6/25: A slow-going roadrailer meets westbound loaded slab steel train 67Z with a blue SD60 leading.
13:30 - Later that afternoon 33A starts east through CP DORF with a plethora of yard power taxiing from the Enola Diesel shop back to Allentown yard in the consist.
14:45 - 6/26: 30J gets underway at Richland with a pair of AC4400CW's, one being a CEFX lease. At 16:30 mid-day local H33 heads west with a long-hood forward C40-9.
17:00 - Later that afternoon 20G heads east at Wernersville. These containers, originating in Hobart, CA, traversed BNSF to Chicago. The BNSF power ran through onto NS, and these ex-CR SD50's were pooled in Cleveland and Pittsburgh to be added on the front for cab signals.5405 had a rare Leslie RS5T horn.
18:15 - Loaded slab steel train 67Z heads west through Richland with a blue SD60M and now retired C39-8E.
19:00 - 6/27: 65J with a pair of GE/EMD standard cabs.
20:00 - 7/1: Local train H47 with box cars for Deka Batteries heads east up the low-grade at Blandon. Notice the voice of the .8 defect detector.
21:00 - 500 coal train to Eddystone passes Neversink Rd with a pair of SD60I's that afternoon.
21:50 - Later on, ethanol loads to Seawaren, NJ grind up the low-grade at Temple on the Reading Line with one of the few repainted SD50's leading, with a fouled Leslie RS3L.
22:45 - 7/2: The Ramona Rd crossing was undergoing construction when a surprising blue GP38-2 showed up leading W4A to Enola Yard.
7/8:
24:30 - Probably one of the best catches of the year was loaded ethanol 68Q with a blue SD50 and a few BNSF SD40-2's trailing, including one in BN green.
25:15 - 21M at Lebanon with nothing special other than an EMDX GP38-2 mixed into the consist.
26:30 - 20G at Cleona with a colorful consist. The crossing arms and bells have since been replaced.
28:00 - A wild 965 power move came west an hour later.
28:50 - Just a usual pair of SD40-2's on 64J that evening.

wn.com/Trains On The Norfolk Southern Harrisburg Line 2008 Volume 1
Back in 2008, YouTube was a very different world with a cheesy browser and 10 minute upload size limit. The Norfolk Southern Harrisburg Line was also quite different. I dug into the archives just to see how much has changed, and realized there was over 2 hours of footage that hadn't been previously uploaded. This is Part 1 of several more 30 minute videos to follow as we take a look back to May-July 2008. It's not the best quality footage, since long time viewers know I started out with a small point-and-shoot camera that had a video function—even a cell phone 8 years later can take much better quality video.
Like us on Facebook!

Hello everyone! I know I took a while to finally make so more videos but I finally tackled the women's Trillium Parka. Like I had mentioned, I have had this coat for two years now and couldn't be happier. It has kept me incredibly warm, and the over all quality I don't have any complaints.
I did forget to mention what kind of layers you should wear under your winter coat. So first and for most, you need to wear a good base layer or whatever is closet to your skin, minus your bra, it should be synthetic or wool. Stay away from cotton! It holds moisture which means if you sweat at all it obviously won't go anywhere which in turn will not do anything for keeping you warm or dry. A great mid layer, a sweater whether again it is wool or fleece would work perfectly with the base layer in keeping you warm all together.
I hope I was able to answer all the questions that I would normally answer with my customers, again if anyone has any questions please leave them in the comments down below or reaching me at my Twitter or Instagram!!!

This educational documentary will show you how chocolate is made in a Hershey's factory. Chocolate is a typically sweet, usually brown, food preparation of Theobroma cacao seeds, roasted and ground, often flavored, as with vanilla.
This video depicts a Hershey's factory, an American company, in the mid-1970's, before the use of questionable ingredients such as 'high fructose corn syrup', where they used sugar. Hershey essentially took the European recipe for 'chocolate' and added more sugar, and also used milk, hence the term 'milk chocolate', which for some is a cheapened form of the ancient blends.
Much of the chocolate consumed today is in the form of sweet chocolate, a combination of cocoa solids, cocoa butter or other fat, and sugar. Milk chocolate is sweet chocolate that additionally contains milk powder or condensed milk. White chocolate contains cocoa butter, sugar, and milk, but no cocoa solids.

The year was 1985, and the Philadelphia Spectrum was playing host to the IBLA Exhibition Series between the US and Canada. This series pitted the best US box players against the best that Canada had to offer and the guys on both rosters served as a who's who of lacrosse in the mid 80s. This event was also called the North American Cup, and was a very cool concept. It's similar to the US vs Iroquois annual game (The Bowhunter Cup) that goes on now.
Was this game absolutely laden with star power? You bet it was! #12 for Canada is John Grant... SENIOR!. Bruce Ogilvie, Jim Wasson, Kevin Alexander, and Sean Quinlan are a couple other guys you might know. The US was also pretty stacked up with talent. Bill Beroza, Jeff Goldberg, Bob Griebe, Jim and Mark D'arcangelo, Dave Huntley, John Tucker, and current US Lacrosse CEO Steve Stenersen (USA face off man) led the way for Team USA, amongst others.
The intros, national anthems, and starting line ups run through the 10:00 minute mark, and then the action really picks up!

Thumbs up for Jack Benny!
Jack Benny first appeared on radio as a guest of Ed Sullivan in 1932. He was then given his own show later that year, with Canada Dry Ginger Ale as a sponsor —The Canada Dry Ginger Ale Program, beginning May 2, 1932, on the NBC Blue Network and continuing there for six months until October 26, moving the show to CBS on October 30. With Ted Weems leading the band, Benny stayed on CBS until January 26, 1933.
Arriving at NBC on March 17, Benny did The Chevrolet Program until April 1, 1934. He continued with The General Tire Revue for the rest of that season, and in the fall of 1934, for General Foods as The Jell-O Program Starring Jack Benny (1934–42) and, when sales of Jell-O were affected by sugar rationing during World War II, The Grape Nuts Flakes Program Starring Jack Benny (Later the Grape Nuts and Grape Nuts Flakes Program) (1942–44). On October 1, 1944, the show became The Lucky Strike Program Starring Jack Benny, when American Tobacco's Lucky Strike cigarettes took over as his radio sponsor, through the mid-1950s. By that time, the practice of using the sponsor's name as the title began to fade.
The show returned to CBS on January 2, 1949, as part of CBS president William S. Paley's notorious "raid" of NBC talent in 1948-49. There it stayed for the remainder of its radio run, which ended on May 22, 1955. CBS aired repeats of previous 1953-55 radio episodes from 1956 to 1958 as The Best of Benny for State Farm Insurance, who later sponsored his television program from 1960 through 1965.

Docudrama starring Joanna Reynolds about Bertha Wright - a great grand daughter of Abigail and Philemon Wright. In the 1880s she became very active in the Young Women's Christian Temperance Movement in Ottawa. She started riots in Hull Quebec when she tried to start a mission there. Bertha was baptized at St James Hull in 1863 and grew up at Britannia Farm where the Royal Ottawa Golf Course is now. Her husband Robert Carr-Harris surveyed the rail line from Buckingham to Lachute Quebec. Produced, directed and written by Rev. Jim Collins to commemorate the centenary of the founding of the YWCA in Ottawa with funding from Mid-Canada Television. Camera and DOP was Jim Huber with Gerry Bimm as editor, Larry Gavin was Executive Producer.
