Summary:
Recorded just over a year after Santana played its historic Woodstock Music & Art Fair performance, the band was fast becoming one of the biggest in the world. They were about to release their second album, Abraxas, and were riding high on the heels of three hit songs from their debut album and a new Top 10 hit, a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Black Magic Woman."
A year earlier - in fact only a few days before the Woodstock Festival - Bill Graham staged the first of several concerts billed as "The Fillmore at Tanglewood." Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the storied venue had just begun to experiment with staging contemporary concerts on their grounds. Staging a rock concert in a classical venue had yet to be done, so of course the concept of doing so excited Graham. He brought the full-scale Fillmore East production team in, including the Joshua Light Show, and booked a great lineup. This first concert featured B.B King, Jefferson Airplane and The Who, and drew the largest crowd that Tanglewood had ever seen by far.
Buoyed by the event's success, Tanglewood and Graham agreed to stage three similar dates in 1970. The last of these is this show, when Santana headlined after The Voices of East Harlem and the legendary Miles Davis had played (you can hear Mile's set here).
This historic and beautifully recorded performance features a smoking performance by Santana in the last year of their classic lineup, before a young Neal Schon joined the band. We think you'll agree it's an incredible performance by a great band in their prime.

The new Santana Band 1973 live in Japan preforming "Stone Flower" from the Caravanserai Album the fourth studio album by Santana released in November 1972. It marked a major turning point in Carlos Santana's career as it was a sharp departure from his critically acclaimed first three albums. Original bassist David Brown left the group in 1971 and was replaced by Doug Rauch and Tom Rutley, while original percussionist Michael Carabello left and was replaced by Armando Peraza. Keyboardist/vocalist Gregg Rolie, who was having a falling-out with Santana, was replaced by Tom Coster on a few songs. Caravanserai reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart in 1972.

Santana is a rock band based around guitarist Carlos Santana and founded in the late 1960s. It first came to public attention after their performing the song "Soul Sacrifice" at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, when their Latin rock provided a contrast to other acts on the bill. This initial exposure made their first, eponymous album a hit at the time, followed in the next two years by successful follow-ups Abraxas and Santana III.
Over the next few years, lineup changes were common and frequent, and although retaining a basis of Latin rock, Carlos Santana's increasing involvement with guru Sri Chinmoy took the band further into more esoteric music, which continued for many years, although never quite losing the initial Latin influence.
In 1998, the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with Carlos Santana, Jose Chepito Areas, David Brown, Mike Carabello, Gregg Rolie and Michael Shrieve being honored.
Santana has achieved a total of eight Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards which were all awarded in 2000. Carlos also won two Grammy Awards as a solo artist in 1989 and 2003.

Carlos Augusto Alves Santana (born July 20, 1947) is a Mexican and American rock guitarist. Santana became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered rock, Latin music and jazz fusion. The band's sound featured his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and African rhythms featuring percussion instruments such as timbales and congas not generally heard in rock music. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades. He experienced a resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine listed Santana at number 15 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. He has won 10 Grammy Awards and 3 Latin Grammy Awards.
Santana was born in Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, Mexico. Carlos learned to play the violin at age five and the guitar at age eight. His younger brother, Jorge Santana, would also become a professional guitarist. Young Carlos was heavily influenced by Ritchie Valens at a time when there were very few Latinos in American rock and pop music. The family moved from Autlán de Navarro to Tijuana In La Colonia Libertad, the city on Mexico's border with California, and then San Francisco. Carlos stayed in Tijuana but joined his family in San Francisco later and graduated from James Lick Middle School and Mission High School there. He graduated from Mission High in 1965. Carlos was accepted into the California State University, Northridge and Humboldt State University, but turned down both of the offers. Javier Bátiz, a famous guitarist from Tijuana, was said to have been Carlos's guitar teacher who taught him to play a different style of guitar soloing. After learning Javier Batiz's techniques, Santana would make them his own as well.

Classic Rock) Carlos Santana has been reunited with a pre-fame bandmate who fell on hard times over 40 years ago, and Santana has vowed to turn his old friend's life around. 'Magnificent' Marcus Malone was a member of the Carlos Santana Blues Band in 1967 -- but wound up in trouble with the law. And by the time Santana had become a big name act they'd lost touch with the percussionist. That changed when CNN reporter Stanley Roberts interviewed a homeless man on the streets of San Francisco, who claimed to be Malone and asked for help. Santana saw the TV report and went looking for his former colleague with no luck. Finally his manager spoke to Roberts, who arranged the emotional moment captured on camera below. Marcus Malone was discovered by Stanley Roberts, a reporter for Kron4, while he was working on a story about illegal dumping in Oakland. Speaking to the reporter, Malone mentioned that he was once a part of the music scene. Thanks a lot The new Santana Band 1973 live in Japan preforming "Stone Flower" from the Caravanserai Album the fourth studio album by Santana released in November 1972. It marked a major turning point in Carlos Santana's career as it was a sharp departure from his critically acclaimed first three albums. Original bassist David Brown left the group in 1971 and was replaced by Doug Rauch and Tom Rutley, while original percussionist Michael Carabello left and was replaced by Armando Peraza. Keyboardist/vocalist Gregg Rolie, who was having a falling-out with Santana, was replaced by Tom Coster on a few songs. Caravanserai reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart in 1972. Summary:
Recorded just over a year after Santana played its historic Woodstock Music & Art Fair performance, the band was fast becoming one of the biggest in the world. They were about to release their second album, Abraxas, and were riding high on the heels of three hit songs from their debut album and a new Top 10 hit, a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Black Magic Woman."
A year earlier - in fact only a few days before the Woodstock Festival - Bill Graham staged the first of several concerts billed as "The Fillmore at Tanglewood." Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the storied venue had just begun to experiment with staging contemporary concerts on their grounds. Staging a rock concert in a classical venue had yet to be done, so of course the concept of doing so excited Graham. He brought the full-scale Fillmore East production team in, including the Joshua Light Show, and booked a great lineup. This first concert featured B.B King, Jefferson Airplane and The Who, and drew the largest crowd that Tanglewood had ever seen by far.
Buoyed by the event's success, Tanglewood and Graham agreed to stage three similar dates in 1970. The last of these is this show, when Santana headlined after The Voices of East Harlem and the legendary Miles Davis had played (you can hear Mile's set here).
This historic and beautifully recorded performance features a smoking performance by Santana in the last year of their classic lineup, before a young Neal Schon joined the band. We think you'll agree it's an incredible performance by a great band in their prime.

Staging a rock concert in a classical venue had yet to be done, so of course the concept of doing so excited Graham. He brought the full-scale Fillmore East production team in, including the Joshua Light Show, and booked a great lineup. This first concert featured B.B King, Jefferson Airplane and The Who, and drew the largest crowd that Tanglewood had ever seen by far.
Buoyed by the event's success, Tanglewood and Graham agreed to stage three similar dates in 1970. The last of these is this show, when Santana headlined after The Voices of East Harlem and the legendary Miles Davis had played (you can hear Mile's set here).
This historic and beautifully recorded performance features a smoking performance by Santana in the last year of their classic lineup, before a young Neal Schon joined the band. We think you'll agree it's an incredible performance by a great band in their prime.

The new Santana Band 1973 live in Japan preforming "Stone Flower" from the Caravanserai Album the fourth studio album by Santana released in November 1972. It marked a major turning point in Carlos Santana's career as it was a sharp departure from his critically acclaimed first three albums. Original bassist David Brown left the group in 1971 and was replaced by Doug Rauch and Tom Rutley, while original percussionist Michael Carabello left and was replaced by Armando Peraza. Keyboardist/vocalist Gregg Rolie, who was having a falling-out with Santana, was replaced by Tom Coster on a few songs. Caravanserai reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart in 1972.

Classic Rock) Carlos Santana has been reunited with a pre-fame bandmate who fell on hard times over 40 years ago, and Santana has vowed to turn his old friend's life around.
'Magnificent' Marcus Malone was a member of the Carlos Santana Blues Band in 1967 -- but wound up in trouble with the law. And by the time Santana had become a big name act they'd lost touch with the percussionist.
That changed when CNN reporter Stanley Roberts interviewed a homeless man on the streets of San Francisco, who claimed to be Malone and asked for help. Santana saw the TV report and went looking for his former colleague with no luck. Finally his manager spoke to Roberts, who arranged the emotional moment captured on camera below.
Marcus Malone was discovered by Stanley Roberts, a reporter for Kron4, while he was working on a story about illegal dumping in Oakland. Speaking to the reporter, Malone mentioned that he was once a part of the music scene.

Mais uma polêmica ronda os bastidores do "Pânico na Band". Desta vez, o programa está na mira de Carlos Santana, youtuber que participou da edição de domingo (21) no quadro "Bate ou Regaça".

Durante sua participação no quadro, Carlos Santana acertou uma resposta, mas acabou sendo agredido da mesma forma. O youtuber se irritou e abandonou o estúdio no meio das gravações, virando motivo de piada no "Pânico".

Em seu canal na web, Santana esclareceu o ocorrido e disse que só participou do programa em nome da amizade com o produtor do quadro, conhecido como Lucas Selfie. "Fui à gravação do programa por amizade ao Lucas que me chamou de última hora. Chegando lá respondi a pergunta certa e eles queriam me bater. Nas outras perguntas, que errei, recebi as ‘porradas’ sem reclamar, mas acertar, rasgarem o papel e ainda quererem me bater não é justo. Deixei a gravação do programa, uma produtora e o diretor do programa foram atrás de mim, mas resolvi não voltar", disse. A assessoria de imprensa de Carlos Santana confirmou a intenção do youtuber em processar tanto o "Pânico", como a TV Band.

Carlos Santana foi convidado para o quadro "Bate ou Regaça", mas abandonou gravação no meio: "Me incomodei"
Mais uma polêmica ronda os bastidores do "Pânico na Band". Desta vez, o programa está na mira de Carlos Santana, youtuber que participou da edição de domingo (21) no quadro "Bate ou Regaça".
A atração reúne os youtubers que estão em alta nas redes sociais para participar de um jogo de perguntas e respostas. Ao errar um desafio, os convidados são castigados com socos e outras prendas violentas.
Durante sua participação no quadro, Carlos Santana acertou uma resposta, mas acabou sendo agredido da mesma forma. O youtuber se irritou e abandonou o estúdio no meio das gravações, virando motivo de piada no "Pânico".

Em seu canal na web, Santana esclareceu o ocorrido e disse que só participou do programa em nome da amizade com o produtor do quadro, conhecido como Lucas Selfie. "Fui à gravação do programa por amizade ao Lucas que me chamou de última hora. Chegando lá respondi a pergunta certa e eles queriam me bater. Nas outras perguntas, que errei, recebi as ‘porradas’ sem reclamar, mas acertar, rasgarem o papel e ainda quererem me bater não é justo. Deixei a gravação do programa, uma produtora e o diretor do programa foram atrás de mim, mas resolvi não voltar", disse. A assessoria de imprensa de Carlos Santana confirmou a intenção do youtuber em processar tanto o "Pânico", como a TV Band.

Carlos Santana Wanted Live Vocals at Super Bowl 50 Half-Time
The folks who loved the Super Bowl's halftime show this year might not be asking, was it lip-synched?
Carlos Santana certainly is.
In his statement sent to CBS and the NFL he said, "We would have rocked the halftime show and done the SF Bay Area proud. This is just an invitation for you to consider iconic bands as part of your halftime entertainment. Real live music, real live vocals, and give the audience real live chills."
The word is Chris Martin of Coldplay sang live but the bands instruments didn't seem plugged in but Beyonce and Bruno Mars? Well, that is another story.
Last weekend's Super Bowl 50 was at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco and Santana urged the organizers that local would have been better, "I do feel compelled to point out to you that the halftime show should have included some of the local iconic bands that the world would have loved to see perform. Bands like Metallica, Steve Miller, Journey and yours truly.
Santana is set to reunite a version of the band going back to 1971 and Santana III featuring lead vocalist and keyboardist Gregg Rolie, guitarist Neal Schon, percussionist Michael Carabello and drummer Michael Shrieve. They will release Santana IV on April 15th. Santana will start thier tour on Feb 26 in Dubai. They will also share dates with Schon and Journey in April. - by John Beaudin

Santana is the third studio album by Santana. The band's second self-titled album, it is often referred to as III to distinguish it from the band's 1969 debut album. The album was also known as Man with an Outstretched Hand. Santana is the debut studio album by Latin rock band Santana released in 1969. It is a release of largely instrumental music, recorded by what was originally a purely free-form jam band. Various takes of tracks from the supreme 72 album. It sure is SBD, though unfortunately the sound is pretty oversteered. Tracks 103-108 are all very early versions of Waves Within, but very different from the album version. The start is the same, but then vocals by Carlos himself…! Could be that the original did have some lyrics or it’s just a another song. I haven’t got a clue. I haven’t checked, but it if I recall it correctly that vocal part was also on the so called Apartment Jams.

The six tracks on Disc 2 (recorded - possibly 1971/72) here are the original notes:
Although this is widely traded in Santana Circles as Caravanserai sessions or rehearsals, there are no tracks from Caravanserai here. It is more likely that the recordings were part of Neal Schon’s auditions for the band in the Bay Area around this time. Perhaps there are others who can provide more info on these tracks. Also I have decided to strip out the non-music stuff. There are a number of tracks that are merely a drum beat or bass beat. Listening to this for 12 minutes at a time is not much fun. I have therefore pulled out the tracks which can be regarded as musical compositions, of which they are very good of the band at this period… Anyway for those who are fans of the band in this period with Neal Schon, it’s well worth a listen.

Various takes of tracks from the supreme 72 album. It sure is SBD, though unfortunately the sound is pretty oversteered. Tracks 103-108 are all very early versions of Waves Within, but very different from the album version. The start is the same, but then vocals by Carlos himself…! Could be that the original did have some lyrics or it’s just a another song. I haven’t got a clue. I haven’t checked, but it if I recall it correctly that vocal part was also on the so called Apartment Jams.

The six tracks on Disc 2 (recorded - possibly 1971/72) here are the original notes:
Although this is widely traded in Santana Circles as Caravanserai sessions or rehearsals, there are no tracks from Caravanserai here. It is more likely that the recordings were part of Neal Schon’s auditions for the band in the Bay Area around this time. Perhaps there are others who can provide more info on these tracks. Also I have decided to strip out the non-music stuff. There are a number of tracks that are merely a drum beat or bass beat. Listening to this for 12 minutes at a time is not much fun. I have therefore pulled out the tracks which can be regarded as musical compositions, of which they are very good of the band at this period… Anyway for those who are fans of the band in this period with Neal Schon, it’s well worth a listen.

Emergency workers in Kolkata continued to search for survivors underneath a collapsed overpass in a congested area of the eastern city, as the construction firm building the flyover was being investigated. At least 21 people were killed and over a dozens were still trapped under the rubble of the under-construction overpass that collapsed on Thursday ... "The condition is pathetic ...
