Lonely Wives is a 1931 American comedy film directed by Russell Mack and starring Edward Everett Horton, Esther Ralston, and Laura La Plante.
Edward Everett Horton plays Richard "Dickie" Smith, a respectable defence lawyer, for murder cases, who turns into an unfettered Don Juan, after the clock strikes 8 o'clock, in this Pre-Hays Code comedy. To fool his Mother-in-Law, Maude Eburne, as Mrs. Mantel, he hires famous vaudeville impersonator Felix, the Great Zero, played by Edward Everett Horton, in a double role, to stay at the house. While he goes out on the town, with his new, sultry secretary, Patsy Ruth Miller, as Kitty "Minty" Minter; and, his new client, Laura La Plante, as Diane O'Dare, unsuspecting that the husband she wants to divorce, for neglect, is actually Felix, the Great Zero, himself.
When Esther Ralston, as Madeline Smith, returns early from her trip, Felix knows that the jig is up; or, is it.
It's a question of who's fooling who, which ends with an angry husband chasing them all with a loaded gun, an irate cabby looking for his fare, and a seemingly, flirtatious, fired, French maid. Meanwhile, Spencer Charters, as Andrews, the Butler, thinks he must have the DT's, seeing double of everyone. They know they'll reform their ways, if any of them survive the night.

Spencer Charters
Spencer Charters (March 25, 1875 – January 25, 1943) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 220 films between 1920 and 1943, mostly in small supporting roles.
Spencer Charters first stage work soon after leaving school was a walk on part, but it wasn't long before he was being given fair-sized roles. He played on Broadway between 1910 and 1929 and was a busy character actor in films during the 1930s and early 1940s. He often portrayed somewhat befuddeled judges, doctors, clerks, managers, and jailers. He died by suicide from a mix of sleeping pills and carbon monoxide poisoning.

South Australia
South Australia (abbreviated as SA) is a state in the southern central part of Australia. It covers some of the most arid parts of the continent. With a total land area of 983,482 square kilometres (379,725 sq mi), it is the fourth largest of Australia's states and territories.
South Australia shares borders with all of the other mainland states, and with the Northern Territory; it is bordered to the west by Western Australia, to the north by the Northern Territory, to the north-east by Queensland, to the east by New South Wales, to the south-east by Victoria, and to the south by the Great Australian Bight and the Indian Ocean. With over 1.6 million people, the state comprises less than 8% of the Australian population and ranks fifth in population among the six states and two territories. The majority of its people reside in the state capital, Adelaide. Most of the remainder are settled in fertile areas along the south-eastern coast and River Murray. The state's colonial origins are unique in Australia as a freely settled, planned British province, rather than as a convict settlement. Official settlement began on 28 December 1836, when the colony was proclaimed at the Old Gum Tree by Governor John Hindmarsh.

Spencer Gulf
The Spencer Gulf is the westernmost of two large inlets on the southern coast of Australia, in the state of South Australia, facing the Great Australian Bight. The Gulf is 322 km (200 mi) long and 129 km (80 mi) wide at its mouth. The western shore of the Gulf is the Eyre Peninsula, while the eastern side is the Yorke Peninsula, which separates it from the smaller Gulf St Vincent. Its entrance was defined by Matthew Flinders as a line from Cape Catastrophe on Eyre Peninsula to Cape Spencer on Yorke Peninsula.
The largest towns on the gulf are Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Port Pirie, and Port Augusta. Smaller towns on the gulf include Tumby Bay, Port Neill, Arno Bay, Cowell, Port Germein, Port Broughton, Wallaroo, Port Hughes and Port Victoria.
History
The gulf was named Spencer's Gulph by Flinders on 20 March 1802, after George John Spencer, the 2nd Earl Spencer, an ancestor of Diana, Princess of Wales.
The official name is now Spencer Gulf. The gulf was also named Golfe Bonaparte by Nicholas Baudin at roughly the same time as Flinders, but the name did not catch (others, like the Fleurieu Peninsula, did).

Edward Everett Horton
Edward Everett Horton (March 18, 1886 – September 29, 1970) was an American character actor. He had a long career in film, theater, radio, television, and voice work for animated cartoons.
Early life
Horton was born in Brooklyn, twelve years before New York City was consolidated, to Isabella S. (née Diack) and Edward Everett Horton, a compositor for The New York Times. His mother was born in Matanzas, Cuba to Mary Orr and George Diack, immigrants from Scotland. He attended Boys' High School, Brooklyn and Baltimore City College, where he was later inducted into that school's Hall of Fame.
He began his college career at Oberlin College in Ohio. He was asked to leave after an incident where he climbed to the top of the Service Building, and after collecting an audience, threw off a dummy, causing the viewers to think he had jumped. Later, he attended college at Brooklyn Polytechnic and Columbia University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi.
Stage and film career
Horton began his stage career in 1906, singing and dancing and playing small parts in vaudeville and in Broadway productions. In 1919, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he began acting in Hollywood films. His first starring role was in the comedy Too Much Business (1922), but he portrayed the lead role of an idealistic young classical composer in Beggar on Horseback (1925). In the late 1920s he starred in two-reel silent comedies for Educational Pictures, and made the transition to talking pictures with Educational in 1929. As a stage trained performer, he found more film work easily, and appeared in some of Warner Bros.' early talkies, including The Terror (1928) and Sonny Boy (1929).

Edward Everett
Edward Everett (April 11, 1794 – January 15, 1865) was an American politician, pastor, educator, diplomat, and orator from Massachusetts. Everett, a Whig, served as U.S. Representative, U.S. Senator, the 15th Governor of Massachusetts, Minister to Great Britain, and United States Secretary of State. He also taught at Harvard University and served as its president.
Everett was one of the great American orators of the antebellum and Civil War eras. He is often remembered today as the featured orator at the dedication ceremony of the Gettysburg National Cemetery in 1863, where he spoke for over two hours—immediately before President Abraham Lincoln delivered his famous, two-minute Gettysburg Address.
The son of a pastor, Everett was educated at Harvard, and briefly ministered at Boston's Brattle Street Church before taking a teaching job at Harvard. The position included preparatory studies in Europe, so Everett spent two years in studies at the University of Göttingen, and another two years traveling around Europe. At Harvard he taught ancient Greek literature for several years before becoming involved in politics, and began an extensive and popular speaking career. He served ten years in the United States Congress before winning election as Governor of Massachusetts in 1835. As governor he introduced the state Board of Education, the first of its type in the nation.

Edward Everett Horton plays Richard "Dickie" Smith, a respectable defence lawyer, for murder cases, who turns into an unfettered Don Juan, after the clock strikes 8 o'clock, in this Pre-Hays Code comedy. To fool his Mother-in-Law, Maude Eburne, as Mrs. Mantel, he hires famous vaudeville impersonator Felix, the Great Zero, played by Edward Everett Horton, in a double role, to stay at the house. While he goes out on the town, with his new, sultry secretary, Patsy Ruth Miller, as Kitty "Minty" Minter; and, his new client, Laura La Plante, as Diane O'Dare, unsuspecting that the husband she wants to divorce, for neglect, is actually Felix, the Great Zero, himself.
When Esther Ralston, as Madeline Smith, returns early from her trip, Felix knows that the jig is up; or, is it.
It's a question of who's fooling who, which ends with an angry husband chasing them all with a loaded gun, an irate cabby looking for his fare, and a seemingly, flirtatious, fired, French maid. Meanwhile, Spencer Charters, as Andrews, the Butler, thinks he must have the DT's, seeing double of everyone. They know they'll reform their ways, if any of them survive the night.

Richard "Dickie" Smith (Edward Everett Horton), is a seemingly respectable defense attorney by day, who turns into a philandering Don Juan when the clock strikes 8 o’clock. His wife, Madeline (Esther Ralston), has been away for several months, and is not expected back anytime soon. However, Madeline's mother, Mrs. Mantel (Maude Eburne) is staying with the Smiths, in an effort to curtail the possibility of any straying by Richard. Unbeknownst to her, he has made plans to go out on the town that night with his new, sultry secretary Kitty Minter (Patsy Ruth Miller), and his new sexy client, Diane O'Dare (Laura La Plante), who, a lonely wife herself, wishes to divorce her husband for neglect.
The issue is how can he go out on the town without alerting his mother-in-law. An issue which is seemingly resolved by the arrival at his home of a vaudeville impersonator: Felix, the Great Zero (also played by Edward Everett Horton). Felix is seeking permission to impersonate the famous lawyer on-stage. At first reluctant, Richard, noticing the striking resemblance between himself and the actor, realizes he might have a way to deceive Mrs. Mantel. In order to obtain his approval, Felix must agree to impersonate him at his house that evening, while he goes out.
While Richard goes out on the town, he discovers that Diane's husband is none other than Felix. Meanwhile, Madeline arrives home unannounced and early.Thinking that he is about to be exposed, Felix phones the nightclub where Richard has taken the two women for dinner and drinks. As he waits for the return phone call, much to his surprise, rather than exposing him as an imposter, Madeline begins to come on to him. He attempts to resist, trying to hold out until he can speak to Richard, but he succumbs to her charms just as the phone begins ringing.
When Richard returns home the next morning, Felix is still there. He is followed closely by a very inebriated Diane, with whom it seems he has spent his time away from home. When Felix recognizes Diane, and Richard understands that Felix has spent the night at his house, both men believe that his look-a-like has slept with the others' wife. After a series of events, Smith ends up chasing Zero with a loaded gun. Meanwhile, Andrews, the Butler, (Spencer Charters), thinks he must have the DT’s, seeing double of his employer.

The truth comes out when Madeline admits that she knew it wasn't Richard all along, and other than the kissing, nothing happened between the two of them. When Richard returns home the next morning, Felix is still there. He is followed closely by a very inebriated Diane, with whom it seems he has spent his time away from home. When Felix recognizes Diane, and Richard understands that Felix has spent the night at his house, both men believe that his look-a-like has slept with the others' wife. After a series of events, Smith ends up chasing Zero with a loaded gun. Meanwhile, Andrews, the Butler, (Spencer Charters), thinks he must have the DT’s, seeing double of his employer.

SHANE HURLBUT, ASC is an accomplished cinematographer who graduated from Emerson College with a Bachelor of Arts in Film. The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) nominated Hurlbuts first feature for Best Picture in the category of Motion Picture, Miniseries or Pilot Television. Currently, Shane is shooting an untitled Navy SEAL feature directed by Scotty Waugh and Mike McCoy for Bandito Brothers, Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers. This highly anticipated footage details the covert operations performed by the US Elite Navy SEALS.
Hurlbuts versatility and expertise affords him the opportunity to work within any production budget. In addition, he has designed a workflow with his Elite Team which reduces productions financial and eco-footprint, making it more efficient to accomplish the same number of set-ups as big budget projects. Shane and his Elite Team have shot a total of 14 films in a variety of genres, always maintaining the highest standards.
Shane balances shooting features with commercial work, using his diverse skill set to maximize short form campaigns. He has also worked with music legends The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, and Smashing Pumpkins.

Es la "conciencia" de Pinocho, el encargado, por el Hada Azul, de guiar al niño de madera por el buen camino. Fue doblado por Cliff Edwards quién murió con 76 años sumido en la miseria.
Geppetto: El "padre" de Pinocho. Un bondadoso carpintero que vive con un gato y un pez, Fígaro y Cleo, rodeado de relojes de cuco hechos por él mismo. Doblado por Christian Rub, después de descartar a Spencer Charters por el tono ronco de su voz.
El Honrado Juan y Gedeón: Juan es un personaje malvado, timador y un vividor que es representado por un zorro. Es el encargado, junto a su torpe y mudo compañero el gato Gedeón, de llevar a Pinocho por el mal camino y tentarle para que deje de hacer lo que debe. Se asemeja a los personajes de la obra de Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist. Fue doblado en su versión original por Walter Catlett.
Strómboli: El titiritero, otro de los personajes malvados del film, secuestra a Pinocho y le obliga a actuar en su teatro como "La marioneta sin hilos". Fue doblado por el actor alemán Charles Judels.
El cochero: El encargado, valiéndose de su amigable aspecto, de llevar a Pinocho y los demás niños a la "Isla de los juegos", lugar donde podrán hacer todo lo que quieran, desde jugar al billar o al póquer, hasta fumar. Allí los niños se irán convirtiendo en asnos a medida que se porten peor. Su voz era la misma que la de Strómboli.
Monstruo la Ballena: Como dice su nombre, ésta ballena es monstruosa. Es temida por los seres del océano.
Polilla: El "amigo" de Pinocho en la "Isla de los juegos", es el que le incita a que juegue al billar, que beba cerveza o que se fume un puro. Actúa como el típico niño que sabe de todo y que se cree el más listo, pero que en realidad es el más "burro", animal en el que al final se convertirá. Doblado en su versión original por Frankie Darro.
El Hada Azul: El hada buena, el personaje encargado de dar vida a Pinocho y premiarle, convirtiéndole en un niño de verdad, después de que haya aprendido cómo se debe comportar y a quién no se debe juntar. También es quien encomienda a Pepito Grillo la labor de velar por Pinocho y ayudarle en la difícil tarea de crecer lejos de la "mala vida". Para el personaje, los animadores se fijaron en la bailarina Marjorie Belcher, quién también sirvió de modelo para Blancanieves. Por lo que a la voz se refiere, es de la actriz Evelyn Venable.
Cleo y Figaro: Son las mascotas de Geppetto, Fígaro, un gato de color negro y blanco, y Cleo, una pececita dorada.
