Microsoft testing app to unlock Windows 10 PC using Bluetooth
TOI Tech | Mar 10, 2016, 04.32 PM ISTNEW DELHI: Microsoft is working on a new app which uses Bluetooth to unlock Windows 10 PCs. Codenamed as 'Phone sign-in beta', the app was first spotted by a Twitter user.
The app will enable users to sync a Windows 10 PC with their smartphone, and they will also be able to unlock it, by picking it from the list of available devices. The objective of the company behind the app is to reduce the process of manually adding a password every time they unlock the device. Microsoft is internally testing the beta version of the app for Windows 10.
Moreover, the listings on Windows Store reveals that the Authentication app is in beta testing phase, and the upcoming versions will incorporate support for Microsoft account, one-time passcode generation, a sign-in solution for browsers and VPN and MFA approval via notification.
Microsoft is also trying to introduce new ways to secure and unlock Windows 10 PCs. The tech giant has earlier introduced camera support for Windows Hello and the fingerprint reader.
