Obina

Manoel de Brito Filho, better known as Obina (born January 31, 1983), is a Brazilian football striker currently playing for Matsumoto Yamaga FC.

Career

Vitória

Obina caught attention in 2004 when he made a solid season, despite the relegation of his club, Vitória. He scored 24 goals that season, 19 in the Brazilian Série A, being the top scorer of the team along with Edílson. At the end of that year he has been transferred to Al-Ittihad.

Flamengo

Flamengo's supporters like to refer to him as the Brazilian Samuel Eto'o (they usually chant ôôôô... Obina é melhor que o Eto'o, "Obina is better than Eto'o"), a joke-reference to the Cameroonian Chelsea FC player. Obina was fundamental in helping Flamengo win the 2006 Brazilian Cup. He has often been compared with Fio Maravilha for his folkloric charm. Kléber Leite, Flamengo's Director of Football, once referred to him as being "culturally naive."

During Flamengo's Taça Guanabara semi-final match against Vasco da Gama on February 25, 2007, Obina injured his left knee's anterior cruciate ligament after scoring in the second minute of the match. Flamengo's doctors estimated that he will be out of action for six months.

Joel Santana

Joel Natalino Santana (born December 25, 1948) is a Brazilian football head coach and former football player. The last team he coached was Vasco da Gama, in 2014.

Biography

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Santana played his entire career as a central defender in his native Brazil in the 1970s. He became best known as a player at Vasco da Gama, but failed to earn a cap with the national team. In 1980, he retired as a player and moved on to club management with Al Wasl in the United Arab Emirates. While much of his management career has been with Brazilian clubs, Santana has also coached clubs in Saudi Arabia and Vegalta Sendai in Japan's J-League.

Santana is one of the few head coaches to win Brazil's Campeonato Carioca with each of the four big clubs (Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco da Gama). His playing style has been characterized as defensive, with the main objective of preventing the opposition from scoring.

In 2004, Santana successfully kept Vasco da Gama from relegation to the second division of Campeonato Brasileiro in his fourth stint as club's head coach. A year later, he was hired by Flamengo to also save them from relegation, which he did successfully. Having established a reputation as an "escape artist" capable of rescuing teams from relegation, he returned to Flamengo in 2007 with the same goal. He not only prevented relegation, but lead the Rio state club to a surprising third place finish to qualify for the 2008 Copa Libertadores.

Wellington Paulista

Wellington Pereira do Nascimento known as Wellington Paulista (born 22 April 1984) is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a forward for Ponte Preta on loan from Fluminense.

Career

Born in São Paulo, he started as a youth team player with Juventus-SP. He gained experience while on loan to Mirassol, Paraná and Santos, where he scored nine goals in 30 games. This performance brought him to the attention of the Spanish Second Division club Deportivo Alavés. Moving to Spain in 2006, he remained with Alavés until December 2007, when he returned to his home country to sign with Botafogo. Paulista scored seven league goals in 28 appearances and was part of the Botafogo side that won the Rio Cup.

Cruzeiro

He signed a contract with Cruzeiro in 2009, and in the same year, scored 21 times in 38 appearances to help Cruzeiro finish fourth in Serie A and win the 2009 Minas Gerais State League. Five of his goals came in the Copa Libertadores, with Cruzeiro reaching the final, where they were beaten by Estudiantes. His haul of 10 goals in 30 appearances in 2010 helped Cruzeiro finish second in Serie A and reach the quarterfinals of Copa Libertadores. Loaned to Palmeiras in 2011, Paulista returned to Cruzeiro in 2012, scoring 28 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions before leaving for West Ham United on loan in 2013.

Lucio Flavio (film)

Lucio Flavio (Portuguese: Lúcio Flávio, o Passageiro da Agonia) is a 1977 Brazilian film directed by Hector Babenco based on the book of the same by José Louzeiro, who co-wrote the screenplay. It stars Reginaldo Faria as Lúcio Flávio, a famous bandit in Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s. Babenco did not want to limit the story to Lúcio Flávio, and stated it was also a film about Esquadrão da Morte, a death squad from the 1960s.

It premiered on November 22, 1977 at the 1st São Paulo International Film Festival, where it was elected the Best Film by the audience. In February 1978, it won the Best Actor (Faria), Best Supporting Actor (Cândido), Best Cinematography and Best Editing awards at the Gramado Film Festival. The film also entered the Taormina Film Fest, where it won the Best Actor Award. It debuted on the commercial circuit with 100 copies, breaking King Kong's 81, on February 27, 1978. As of November 2014, Lucio Flavio was the sixth most-watched Brazilian film with an audience of 5,401,325.
