Charles Hardin Holley (September 7, 1936 – February 3, 1959), known professionally as Buddy Holly, was an American singer-songwriter and a pioneer of rock and roll. Although his success lasted only a year and a half before his death in an airplane crash, Holly is described by critic Bruce Eder as "the single most influential creative force in early rock and roll." His works and innovations inspired and influenced contemporary and later musicians, notably The Beatles, Elvis Costello, The Rolling Stones, Don McLean, Bob Dylan, and Eric Clapton, and exerted a profound influence on popular music. Holly was among the first group of inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Holly #13 among "The Fifty Greatest Artists of All Time".
Charles Hardin Holley was born on September 7, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas, to Lawrence Odell and Ella Pauline (Drake) Holley. In Philip Norman's biography it is stated that his mother's family claimed to be descended from the English navigator Francis Drake.
Sir James Paul McCartney, MBE, Hon RAM, FRCM (born 18 June 1942) is an English musician, singer-songwriter and composer. Formerly of the Beatles (1960–1970) and Wings (1971–1981), he has been described by Guinness World Records as "The Most Successful Composer and Recording Artist of All Time", with 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles. With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame as a member of the Beatles, and with Lennon formed one of the most celebrated songwriting partnerships of the 20th century. After leaving the Beatles, he began a solo career and later formed the band Wings with his first wife, Linda Eastman, and singer-songwriter Denny Laine.
According to the BBC, his Beatles song "Yesterday" has been covered by over 2,200 artists—more than any other song. Wings' 1977 release, "Mull of Kintyre", became one of the best-selling singles ever in the UK, and he is "the most successful songwriter" in UK chart history, according to Guinness. As a songwriter or co-writer, he is included on thirty-one number one titles on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2012 he has sold over 15.5 million RIAA certified units in the United States.
John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English musician and singer-songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as one of the founder members of The Beatles, one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. Together with Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most celebrated songwriting partnerships of the 20th century.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved as a teenager in the skiffle craze; his first band, The Quarrymen, evolved into The Beatles in 1960. As the group disintegrated towards the end of the decade, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to devote time to raising his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.

What The World Is Watching
Heenan, Bobby 'The Brain': [to Bob Uecker] You received 7,000 votes to get into the Hall Of Fame. You'd have gotten a lot more, but you ran out of stamps.
Jesse Ventura: [to Monsoon after Steamboat fails to pin Valentine] Don't you be cheering for no-one. You're supposed to be unbiased. I get enough of that from McMahon.
Jesse Ventura: [after Ted Dibiase has pinned Muraco] One more match and Dibiase is the champion of the world.
Gorilla Monsoon: [Junkyard Dog had eliminated The King from the Battle Royal] The King is out of there.::Bob Uecker: Wow, you talk about a crown for a king. What a blast he took.
Jesse Ventura: [to Monsoon as Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth come down for the final match for the vacated WWF belt] Try to concentrate on wrestling. I know its hard for you.
Howard 'The Fink' Finkel, Ring Announcer: [Randy Savage has won the tournament and the WWF belt] The winner of the tournament and Undisputed World Wrestling Federation heavyweight champion Randy Macho Man Savage.
Gene Okerlund: It's been hard for me not to say this without using World Wrestling Federation champion Hulk Hogan.
Bob Uecker: All right Wrestlemania 4. This is the first time I got my contract renewed. Second year for me Gorilla.
Jimmy Hart: [after Brutus 'the barber' Beefcake cut Hart's hair] Look! I look like Little Lu Lu!::The Honky Tonk Man: Cover it up, Jimmy, don't let anyone see it!
Ted DiBiase: [after Greg De George couldn't believe that DiBiase had a 1st class dressing room] You won't find the Million Dollar Man in some stinky, dingy locker room with a couple of buffoons!
An erotic blast from the past. . . Peggy Sue . . .what she did before she got married!

I’m gonna go down town I’m gonna find myself some fun
I’m gonna go down town, I’m gonna find myself someone
Forget your hair forget your smell until there’s none
I couldn’t bear to sit and stare until they’re gone
I’m preying to gods I never need
Saying I, I won’t go out quietly
So I went down town and I found myself someone
Without your hair without your smell without your love
Found someone new to make me blue now that we’re done
I couldn’t stay to watch you grey and fade away like everyone
And now I’m preying to gods I never need
Saying I, I won’t go out quietly
I’m preying to gods I don’t believe
Saying you, you won’t take me quietly
Ma mama she gave me these lungs
My papa he gave me this tongue
Ma mama she gave me these lungs
My papa he gave me this tongue
So I went down town and I found myself someone
Without your hair, without your smell without your love
We’re only young for just this once and then we’re done
I couldn’t stay to watch you grey but know I see your face in everyone
I’m preying to gods I never need
Saying I, I won’t go out quietly
I’m preying to gods I don’t believe
Friend, come to bed
I wanted until the pretty ones
Had all laid down their heads
And then I said come to bed
You know that I'm yours
When we're the only bodies left
My friend, it want to stay
We can wait for all the other possibilities to fade
And by then it will be late
And I won't say a word and we can go our seperate ways
My friend, don't give it straight
I'd love to see effort of you lying to my face
So lie, lie with me
Because you know I'd like you best
If you were lying through your teeth
Kid, don't kid yourself
You're always watching someone who is watching someone else
Where's the someone always watching you
You looked away from him just so that you could scan the room
And watch, watch your eyes
I tried but I get dizzy trying to follow them side to side
And watch, watch your mouth
I tried my very best but I can't follow what comes out
I only came here to see you see me
I only came here to see you see me
I only came here to see you see me
I only came here to watch you watch me leave
I did my best, to let it rest
No I didn't say a word, but still I could have said much less
I held my tongs you hel the rest
But you held it far to long
And I got in over my head
So friend, I'll give it straight
I always need a hand to hold when it is growing late
So I will lie, lie for you
Because you know that I am yours
He may be strong
But he will not hold my gaze
For very long
His pretty eyes
Will soon grow tired
I'll look away
Before his looks have time to die
I missed a trick
Or two, or three
I will remain missing
Whilst you're missing me
He may be brave
I'll get him lying down
And you can break his ways
For I left but once
More times I stayed
You hold me stronger now
Than all the while I remained
I missed a trick
It would not do
I will remain missing
Whilst I'm missing you
I miss the shape
We used to make
I miss your breath
I used to take
I miss the hands
That held me in place
They kept me still
With all they gave
They sent me away
The rhytm surround the room
You'll be sleeping soon
The radio plays it's tune
You'll be dreaming
I'll take a match to the paper moon
And set it alight
A bright night light for you
I'll hold my body still
I'll hold against its will
I'll hold my breath
Until I'm blue and I'm bruise
You'll say this mind is ill
But sleep will come it will
First let the truths lay real
And dream will come back to you
The rocks they've thrown
Are all put down
And the backs that turned
Are all turned back around
And your hands still warm
In my own at night
But your bodys cold
Won't you warm it with mine
You cut my hair by the moon light
And I held my breath out of fright
As the locks fell loose by your side
And I had nowhere
Left to hide this pride
Now I'll bend my body till it breaks
I'll bend these truths to make you space
I'll bend and I'll break
For you.
The roads are all grey
Like our city
The lights they are as dim.
The roads here stretch for miles like our city
The nights are just as thin
We'll raise our glasses high here
We'll tell our tales as tall.
But this city's already so full of bodies
The beds they are all full.
She called she said we're closer now
That you're so far away.
There's reason beyond reason now
There oceans in our way.
You had no claim I'd long since left your bed
The water does no more than the words already said.
They build their buidings high here
They tell their tales as tall
But this city's already so full of bodies
It does not need one more
This sofa will not hold my shape
The spring they have no give.
I miss your arms about my own
A reminder I must be grown up and cold.
I have a love that will linger
Until I learn to live without it
I have a love that will linger
Until I learn to doubt it
He said that I was pretty
He said I'd do just fine
But this body's already taken
So taken I'm not sure it's even mine
I'll keep on keeping on
Till I've kept you for too long
Oh I'll keep on keeping on
Till I've kept you
Draw a map across my eye lids
Plot the route home through my veins
Beg there feet t keep on moving
Oh I'll fing my way again
Your words mingled with salt
Are only sweeter as I swallow
[1957]

Well, I love you, girl, and I want you, Peggy Sue
(Holly / Petty / Allison)
If you knew, Peggy Sue,
then you know why I feel blue
without Peggy, my Peggy Sue.
Well, I love you girl.
Yes, I love you, Peggy Sue.
Peggy Sue, Peggy Sue,
oh, how my heart yearns for you.
Oh, Peggy, my Peggy Sue.
Well, I love you girl.
Yes, I love you, Peggy Sue.
I love you, Peggy Sue,
with a love so rare and true.
Oh, Peggy, my Peggy Sue.
Well, I love you girl.
I want you, Peggy Sue.
Peggy Sue, Peggy Sue.
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty Peggy Sue.
Oh, Peggy, my Peggy Sue.
Well, I love you girl.
Yes, I need you, Peggy Sue.
I love you, Peggy Sue,
with a love so rare and true.
Oh, Peggy, my Peggy Sue.
Well, I love you girl,
and I want you, Peggy Sue.
I lost my head. I lost my heart.
You hit me with your long face,
You hit me with the cold
I lost my head. I lost it whole.
You hit me with your long face,
You hit me the cold.
And there's only so many conversations you can have,
Oh there's only so many conversations you can have,
Before words twist and turn
As they fall upon the ears I did not earn
They twist and turn as I fall into the arms I don't deserve,
Cause if your only words you're not mine alone.
You are future and past
But not flesh and bone.
And If I'm only words
I'm not yours alone
I am future and past
But not yours to own
If your only words your not mine to keep
You're a thing that exists
In a sentence I speak
And it's funny how a name can change over time.
From friend, to lover, to was once mine.
February snow.
The trees wore you like a dress
You left me high, you left me dry,
You melted to this mess.
And february snow.
You covered hills, you covered roas.
You hid the gray, you hid the green.
You hid my mind from me
This body of evidence, this body of lies,
This blanket of white
Couldn't help to disguise
This body of evidence
This body of lies
Oh fossils, you lie there,
And you pickled yourself with the liquor you drink
You learned to walk
But now your will it shrinks
Stand tall my love I call as you sink
Oh fossils, turn your flesh to stone
You've incased these bones
In a body that will not grow.
And these hands are prone to stray
To keep dark thoughts and fears at bay
And they'll creep upon a spine that is not yours
They long for new notes, new notches, chords.
And I dripped salty water on your kitchen floor
It was meant as a gift
But it was taken sore
I thought the puddles pretty
As the glistened raw
But you've spent your whole life
Cleaning mess that was not yours
Oh fossils, you lie there,
And your family like lichen
Will cling to your skin
You made your stand,
But now your will it shrinks
Stand tall my love they call as you sink
Oh fossils,
Turned your flesh to stone
Now the sand that trinckes through your veins is moving slow
And I'll look a ghost in the eye each day
Till my head is stone and my pillow clay
And these hands were the first that would go astray
But you never used your own to make them stay
So when i dripped salty water
On your kitchen floor
And I thought you'd be thankful
But you took it sore
And you said these puddles princkle
Till my skin is raw.
And I've spent my whole life cleaning mess.
The silence gets so ugly now
As it begins to grow
And soon you can't remember
If you ever even spoke
It gets so big it fills you up
It trickles down your throat
It gets so big it fills the air
It shoots right up your nose
So you mutter something pointless
Out of pure necessity
The only thing that's certain now
Is your uncertainty
You're sure you made a noise
But now it's surrounded by the air
How can you ever prove
That it was ever even there
Let alone that it had tone
That proved you didn't care
Now what started off as one thing
Just like everything will change
No matter your precision
The words start to rearrange
Into a brand new scentence
Reflected back into your brain
Transmormed during the journey
From your head and back again
So the meaning now is different
Though the words remain the same
Careful where you put your big ideas
Careless talk may cost us dear my dear
Careful where you wast your words so wise
For I'm the impressionable kind
The silence get's so ugly now
As it begins to grow
And soon you can't remeber
If you eve even spoke
It gets so big it fills the air
It shoots right up your nose
He just watched the words so pretty
As they flew out of her mouth
She tried to swallow them down
But in the end she had to get them out
You don't know what they mean
But you just like the way they sound
You like the way your name fits in
The corners of her mouth
You like the way your name fits in
The corners of her mouth
You like the way your name fits in
The corners of her mouth
You like the way your name slips out
Everybody up,
We're all getting down
I wrote out the names
And then I scratched them out
Everybody down
We're all getting fired up
I'm sorry I haven't called you back
My love
See not one thought
Would not stay long enough
They just knocked the next one down
And called each other bluff
Like some domino game
Or two plair pair
Where you find two the same
Then those two desappear
I couldn't prove that I love you
I couldn't prove that I love you
I couldn't prove that I don't
You can't fix something
That refuses to break
It all falls apart with just one small mistake
Our love is like a long division
Our love is like a long division
Please argument won't you stay here with me
Lay yourself down on the floor by my feet
Stay just long enough, no not too long
So I see where you're right
Oh Matilda, it was I who took the pill
That killed you
Oh sweet Matilda, I took that pill
And washed it down the water
And I hit the town that very night
Oh sweet Matilda, I was not ready
Was not ready for you
Oh sweet, sweet Matilda, I took that pill
And washed it down with water
It smelt so sweet but it made me sick
Are you lonely now?
I'll wrap this heart with cellophane
This is completeness again
The victory of which I'd spoken
To mend a heart that was one broken
Cause bodies break and so separate now
Green grow the rushes, oh
These are the seed we've sewn
But who knows that way grow
From a heart of stone and bone
I'll bury these hearts in a casket
Swaddled with love and tightly fastened
I'll bury this love six feet under
Packed down with mud asunder
Cause this blood that flows is all my own
Nourishing my flesh and bones
This blood is all my own
It's mine alone.
Green grow the rushes, oh
These are the seeds we've sewn
Cause veins turn to roots and roots take hold
And they creep up slow
I'll sing you one oh.
Green grow the rushes oh
One is one and all alone
I read it in the paper,
The paper said the times had changed
But if you only lose an hour
Or if you only gain an hour it feels the same
If you only lose an hour,
If you only lose an hour,
You'd just be late
And if you gain an hour,
Then you only gain another hour to wait
I read it in the paper,
The paper said the times had changed
But if you only lose an hour
Or if you only gain an hour it feels the same
I know I'll never have more
Than what you gave
I know I'll never have more
Than I gave away
If you try to make it black and white
You try and make it black and white
You lose all of the colour from the page
If you try to make it black and white
You try and make it black and white
You lose the colour and end up grey
So I had to blow it all
I had to blow it all
if you knew peggy sue

I know what it's like to be alone sitting in your room
Listening to all the doubts
That your parents have to say to you
And as your head gets all cluttered inside
Try to stay awake
Everything they say are lies
That's all the shit that you ever have to take
So hold in all your aggressions
Because you're grinding your teeth on down to
The bottom of your chin
It's not easy or so damn pleasing
To not laugh at everything they say that
They tell you what to be, you're not alone
I know what it's like to be denied at everything you do
It's not the same reason why that
Makes you change the things that you once knew
As your head gets all cluttered inside
Give more than you take
Everything they say are lies
That's all the shit that you ever have to take
So hold in all your aggressions
Because you're grinding your teeth on down to
The bottom of your chin
It's not easy or so damn pleasing
To not laugh at everything they say that
They tell you what to be, you're not alone
You say you want to take off your shoes just to
Walk barefoot down the street
Just to be the things that you can be
Just live for one more week, go!
You say you want to take off your shoes just to
Walk barefoot down the street
Just to be the things that you can be
Just live for one more week
So hold in all your aggressions
Because you're grinding your teeth on down to
The bottom of your chin
It's not easy or so damn pleasing
To not laugh at every word they say that
Oh Matilda, it was I who took the pill
That killed you
Oh sweet Matilda, I took that pill
And washed it down the water
And I hit the town that very night
Oh sweet Matilda, I was not ready
Was not ready for you
Oh sweet, sweet Matilda, I took that pill
And washed it down with water
It smelt so sweet but it made me sick
Are you lonely now?
Now you've swallowed me down
If you knew peggy sue,
Then you know why I feel blue without peggy,
My peggy sue-ue-ue-ue.
Oh, well, I love you, gal,
Yes, I love you, peggy sue.
Peggy sue, peggy sue,
Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty peggy sue.
